Some people such as myself, listen to music while creating works of art, whether it be drawing, or writing.

There is a specific type of music which can enhance your creative flow, or train of thought.

After awhile of going around reading articles, I encountered one about this subject.

...and Specialists from the fields of music, neuroscience, psychology, and neurology describe advances in understanding the complex relationship between music and the brain. Intended for psychologists and neuroscientists, contributions address the origins of music, the musical mind, the neurons of music, musical brain substrates, musical expertise and brain plasticity, and the relation of music to other cognitive domains.
 

Listening to, in particular, classical and instrumental music, has recently been thought to enhance performance on cognitive tests. Contributors to this volume take a closer look at this assertion and their findings indicate that listening to any music that is personally enjoyable has positive effects on cognition. In addition, the use of music to enhance memory is explored and research suggests that musical recitation enhances the coding of information by activating neural networks in a more united and thus more optimal fashion.

As mentioned in the article, classical and instrumental music is the most optimal 'genre' of music to listen to while creating forms of art.

I actually got most of my music from pony.fm, and most of it is from Carbon Maestro. I do have some songs that I like listening that I didn't find in the brony community, but they are few and far in between.

Well when I'm drawing ponies I prefer listening to a brony music playlist. Stuff by Toaster, Tombstone, and any of other people who create that style of music. I also listen to some classical and when I really want inspiration I listen to a bunch of Hans Zimmer, especially stuff from Pirates or the Batman movies.

...I like the idea of this topic. I can safely say that I prefer listening to music that fits the mood of whatever character I'm drawing. When I draw my OC Arctic Frost, I generally listen to pop punk or metalcore, because it helps me get a feel for his character and how he acts. When I draw Crossfade, his sister, I generally slap on a Nightcore hour mix and brainstorm songs to nightcore. When it comes to everything else, I settle for anything like Avenged Sevenfold (or metal, in that respect), as I find that heavy metal helps me focus for some reason.

I listen to a combination of things, I have an entire playlist on youtube full of music I listen to. Its pretty funny though, because Im constantly changing what music videos I put in it. 

 

A lot of the music in the beginning is fast paced stuff to keep up my work flow, I can get board and tired if I listen to something slow and Im working on a piece that is likely is going to take me more than one hour.
