gaming To anybody who records video game footage... How do YOU do it?

NOTE: This is an opinion thing, so I am not ASKING for help or anything. Also, I don't have a lot of money for a high performance computer, so I usually only record video game consoles that use composite cables.

I want to hear how you do it.

Personally, if I can, I try to use original hardware hooked up to a DVD recorder, then rip the video from the DVD to get my footage. DVDs also work as my archives too! :)

I just use FRAPs for PC footage, as of now. I have some USB capture devices but I haven't tried them yet due to just not getting around to it.

First off its good to have a fast computer so your audience isn't annoyed by lag. Next, fraps. It's a super easy program and captures very well. If I want to record commentary, I use a free program called audacity and use my microphone as the input. Hope this helpd

I use Fraps too. If you want to use that, be aware that video files recorded by it are HUGE. I've seen Fraps recordings take upwards of 120GB space just for a half-hour long, 1080p recording.

To be honest i suggest you dont do it! Youtube is filled to the brim with Let's plays and Game Channels and only a hand full are good. But Do what thou wilt, be the whole of the law.

I can see that, and plus: the awesome Game Grumps have taken over the Let's Play genre of YouTube videos! :) There is no way I can be as cool as them... :(

I usually just try to keep my footage archived until I find a good time to make a review someday...

A $50 capture card I got at Best Buy. It has pretty good quality and it works with my underpowered PC. I can't really complain becasue it's better than using  a camcorder.

This is the kind of quality I get on the Wii's Virtual Console.

I use Fraps for my PC footage, which does take up a lot of space (Hence why I have 6TB of disk space).

I use an Elgato GameCapture HD for my Xbox, the quality is great and the file size is tiny compared to Fraps, I did try recalling it to record my PC but it didn't like that :P

I use Dazzle, Pinnacle Studio, some splitters and a sorta weak laptop to do my recording. The quality comes out kind of low but I only really record fighting game matches so it's not too bad as long as there are no dropped frames.
