Yeah, while there is a lot of content we're generating every week, it would be hard to have something new and fresh on all the time. And if Hasbro gets uppity about Fighting is Magic, imagine if one person goofed and put some copyrighted material or whatever on national television. The internet is open-ended enough to connect the fans, I think.

It sounds cool in theory, but probably wouldn't be executed well. I don't mean to sound like a pessimist, but it just doesn't seem likely to succeed in my opinion.

I personally think that that wouldn't work out. I could confidently assure you that there would never be a TV Channel for that.

A show? Possibly.

A channel devoted ONLY to the MLP:FIM fandom? Theres just no way.

For a show (which I assume you meant a show rather than an entire channel) it would cost a lot of money to produce the show for the sole purpose of pleasing a handful of bronies. I'm sure that people would watch, but a show dedicated to something like a fandom happens in rare chance. Talking Bad and Talking Dead are examples of that, but in these shows they discuss the show and it's storyline with celebrity guests.

Basically, I come to this point.

No way Hasbro/The Hub would let that happen, let alone make it themselves. The Hub themselves play MLP enough I think for television(about 3 episodes a weekday usually, that's about 15 a week so they get through the seasons pretty fast), a channel full of pony would be too much unless we end up having a mammoth amount of episodes. Besides, fan videos are great and all but they're fine on Youtube honestly.

The legal obstacles are self-evident.

Despite how insanely active the brony fandom is, and how dedicated its members are, it really doesn't create enough original content to keep a channel like that afloat. Rather, it's not that there isn't enough content, it's that there isn't enough of the right type of content for television. Fan art and music are great, but people don't often sit in front of their TV just to listen to music or stare at still images. There's no point. We would need more original animations, documentaries (which would interest very few people outside of this fandom, and I daresay few within it), convention coverage, and as much as I hate to say it, probably some kind of reality television in which bronies are basically followed around; maybe they could be observed at meetups. Game shows could be made too. Honestly, the whole idea sounds too corny to me, no matter how you package it, and I'm about as sentimental as people get towards this fandom.

And I don't care to watch hundreds of Hasbro commercials a day either, even if they're all for MLP merchandise. An overabundance of commercials always sucks. You know they'd have to be there.

Curious individuals who have no idea what bronies are will stop in to see what the channel is all about, most of them promptly leaving rather than joining us. Even great enthusiasm across the fandom for it would wane quickly, I believe.

In my opinion, such a channel would be very short-lived.

so...you want Equestria Daily on the tube? because that's what it sounds like. it is an interesting and fun concept, but i can't really see them keeping the channel for long. there would need to be buttloads of info in order to keep it a 24/7 channel.

I don't know if that would ever happen but I sure would like to see it! Even if it was a paid channel or something I would deffinitly save the extra doe to have it! I believe if a channel like that exited, the Brony community would double maybe even triple in size so I am a big fan of the Idea!

Well first and foremost, the idea by itself is ridiculous in the context of of television. It would never happen.

However, as a purely internet thing, I don't think it would be that bad. At worst, it'd just be a content aggregator of youtube videos that already exist, conveniently wrapped up into an easy-to-find-and-watch package. At best, it could be a well-edited weekly hour-long showcase of some of the higher level fan creations and videos, which would be kinda cool.

That way instead of digging through hundreds of videos without guidance, someone could have the editing judgment to just bring the best into a single place.

But yeah there's no way there's enough material for a channel, internet or not, and there would never be an actual TV channel. It's almost impossible to start a new network anyways. All the new networks in this day and age are just other already-established networks branching off into a new demographic and airing schedule.

Plus there's only like 2,000,000 bronies at best and 750,000 at worst, which is not even a 1 on the nielsen ratings if they ALL tuned in, lol. So it's a pretty outlandish, if fun, idea.
