Scootadress 361 September 14, 2013 Share September 14, 2013 I'm starting to get afraid, my work isn't noticed. ((Though, mine admittedly, are shit anyways) I tried and tried to draw better, and I am getting better, but I'm afraid when I do post, I get the shaft anyways. I work really hard for my traditional drawings, but get 10 views total mostly for each. Then I look at people who are "famous", I see over priced chibis! How come anime that is drawn that isn't very grand gets more views? Basers are more liked too, which is sad. My friend lost over half of her friend's list when she started drawing her characters out, not using bases. Its upsetting because they are really amazing. I really want to post manga and crossovers I am making up, but the likely hood of it being viewed by a person are slim. Its hard to improve on something when no one, ya know, comments, right? 4 SCOOTALOO = Best CMC PINKIE PIE=Best Pony LUNA=Best Princess
MelancholicMemory 2,027 September 15, 2013 Share September 15, 2013 Unfortunately, in the surplus of artists on the internet, it is very very hard to get noticed, especially because of the fickle audience one ends up having online. This is not just the case on the internet, but it is certainly even more applicable here. The musical equivalent of this was expressed in the following song, so it is apparent in all mediums.
Silverhoof 2,844 September 15, 2013 Share September 15, 2013 Find good artists and fav their work. Comment on every piece you can. People will start to recognize your name and follow you back to your gallery. Find an excuse you post your work here at MLP with a link to your gallery. Ask for criticism at the creative forum here. Open to doing a few requests. The key to improving is draw draw draw. Remember, you draw for the love of art, not the viewers. Success will come, viewership will rise. Just keep plugging away. and you should have added a link to you DA gallery here in this thread. Sometimes a little self promotion helps. Look, my gallery is here: http://black-falcon01.deviantart.com/ I don't even draw, I'm a collector. All my gallery is full of work I commissioned. I wonder if there is an appropriate forum to post all our DA links to...Might be fun. 2 UNICORN FAN CLUB: http://mlpforums.com/topic/113426-unicorns-are-the-best-ponies-fan-club/ NEW SILVERHOOF http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/new-silverhoof-r4429 Equestrian Physiology 101: http://mlpforums.com...physiology-101/

Scootalove 10,689 September 15, 2013 Share September 15, 2013 Trying to advertise your art might take a while to do, but try finding some art that appeals to you and comment on it. It is pretty hard getting noticed on a site like that. Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules

Unfortunately, unless you already jump into deviantArt with a small army of followers behind you, you're going to have to start at point zero. You will have to gradually build a small army of followers and move on from there. -_- Actually this rule pretty much applies to any type of website and or web-midia where someone can become really well known and or famous for something they do or content that they put out. (hints toward youtube) Most of the people that do get a lot of attention are the people who do art for a more popular things like anime and fanart. If you still don't believe me, just click the link in my signature that says DeviantArt.
Blique 211 September 15, 2013 Share September 15, 2013 Everything's about advertising. If you don't advertise yourself, then no matter how good you are, you won't get any attention at all. I know a lot of amateur drawings that get more views than pro ones. @Silverhoof made a lot of good points. I also recommend putting aaall your images in groups. It doubles or triples your view count, and if people like your stuff, then it just keeps getting shared and added to more groups. http://blique.deviantart.com/gallery/ I looked through most of the high-member-count groups for ponies and added my stuff to them. I haven't made a proper list, but you can see the groups to the right of each image. Most of my images belong to some group (all of my ponies belong to at least three, with the most being eight), so you can go through and pick out ones that suit your images. There are groups for OC ponies, evil ponies, canon ponies, royal ponies, gala ponies, and so on. Get your name out there, post in the DA forum, post in forums all over the web...Advertise! If your art is good, it will spread on its own. (I have a decent following on DA, but tumblr is still a mystery to me. orz Can't have everything.) 1 I make digital art, traditional art, scarves, and crafts. http://mlpforums.com/topic/65309-bliques-ponies/
Motion Spark 7,807 September 15, 2013 Share September 15, 2013 do what I'm doing right now ----> http://kyle23emma.deviantart.com/ advertise your page everywhere, it's kinda bad to say it, but you sort of have to become an attention whore, but that if your art is good enough. Or you just made friends through deviant ART, put youartworks in groups, fav and comment. And make friends, you can also participate in livestreams of popular artists and advertise your page here and there. This is a competition wether or not you like it. caramba2654 602 September 15, 2013 Share September 15, 2013 One thing that would really help you is that if you put your DeviantArt link in your description, along with a nice banner and such. Good descriptions usually catch people's eyes and they make you click them. OnylexOmnyPony's signature is quite an example. I won't be a complete brony until I get a Thunderlane plushie and go to a convention.
Zygen 6,066 September 15, 2013 Share September 15, 2013 Well, i'm not that experienced in art exactly, or Deviantart really either, but its basically a thing with the fact that so many people have accounts and its such a heavily populated place that frankly alot of people are going to get drowned out in the sea of the population. To get famous you have to be active there and advertise if you can in places, and just wait some for word to hopefully get around. Its kinda the same thing as youtube frankly, popularity is hard to achieve there, especially without advertising or something like that. Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! Misty Shadow 8,023 September 15, 2013 Share September 15, 2013 (edited) DeviantArt is a blast. The crazy pictures and the many lulzy comments I look at on there really win it for me. Forget becoming "noticed" there though. It's just not worth it, and your main focus should be sharing what you put your heart into with the people who want to look at it. Edited September 15, 2013 by CloudMistDragon Everyone loves Misty. For good reason, of course. :
SkyBound 829 September 15, 2013 Share September 15, 2013 I can honestly sympathize with this situation, as I have dealt with the same thing on DA and there is not much that can be helped at the beginning. But you cannot hold any kind of expectation when it comes to this sort of thing, whether it be views, followers, comments or anything else because you may make yourself more anxious than you should. Art is subjective and people can be a bit fickle but that should not deter you. It can be very hard to get yourself noticed in the swirling tempest that is art but do not let this discourage you and do not let it distract you; if you love drawing and doing art, then do not stop! For now, draw for you and not for the people out there. Post your art and work where ever you can with your DA link for interested viewers (and it would not hurt to put it on your profile here either). Posting your work here would be a great start as well, as I am sure there are many that would be more than willing to comment on your pieces, myself included. And I will end this long-winded post by saying I wish you the best of luck and I hope to see you post some of your work here soon. 3 Deviantart Tumblr
)O( Scarlet )O( 1,259 September 15, 2013 Share September 15, 2013 Yes, in adittion to my previous post, I pretty much have to agree with just about everypony else on what they have said, post the link to your deviant art id everywhere you are online, a good place is to put it in your signature, which is easily done, also what SkyBound said rings true, draw/write for yourself and not for anypony else (unless it is a request/commission of course), and I'd very much like to see your art on here, posting your art on forums like this one and any other decent forums you are on, with a link to your deviantART in the OP is a good place to start. Looking forward to seeing what you can do (Avatar art done by and Signature art done by @Guardian Braveheart (Aka my little brother), Avatar and Signature done by myself)
Tired Brony 89 September 15, 2013 Share September 15, 2013 (edited) I don't know very much about Deviant art's strange ways but I think what really managed to make my popularity take off (I think at least, I don't know what good is on Deviant Art) is that I got 2 of the huge #Brony groups to host my .gifs on their pages. I don't know what your work looks like but if you feel like it can make the cut try submitting your work to one of them. However for my stuff it's probably because I work with animations. The number of animators pale in comparisons to the amount of artists. And my YouTube page remains a ghost town, DA was just supposed to be something for my other projects. Scootadress 361 September 15, 2013 Author Share September 15, 2013 The sad part is I've been there at least 3 years. When the crazes took over, you saw LOTS of views per day. Then I switched the way I drew and lost over half of them as well. I'm definitely trying to fave and do all that, its just really hard to get the views. Planty 1,053 September 15, 2013 Share September 15, 2013 @@Scootadress, I understand where your coming from, and feel the same sometimes about blog posting. The thing is, in the end you need to just do what you enjoy and not worry about the view your getting. if you live for only stats then you may get more views but you will no enjoy what you are doing (and in the end thats the reason your doing it ). Advertise what you are doing though (as said above) and post your art on reddit or on here. Certain characters always get more upvotes as well, my Twilight sparkle art got twice the upvotes of my Apple Jack despite my Apple jack being better in many ways . 1 Have ANY questions about Christianity? 碇 シンジン 27,437 April 4, 2018 Share April 4, 2018 I think the that it is important to prioritise the things right since i personally think that the creating of the art should be more important than the fact if people notice it or not. i think that if you really draw the art for the sake of drawing it and enjoyment you gain from it you can progress further as an artist than someone who draws jsut for the views so to speak because i think that art is something that you really need to put some thought and energy into Rarity Fan Club
