Ever Made Up A Complex Game On The Spot?

Okay, so this memory kinda popped into my head.

A while back, my friends and I were in math class and we had a free period. We didn't have anything to do, so we decided to play Tic-Tac-Toe. As we were playing, we started changing the rules and the way the game was played. Within a surprisingly short amount of time, we had created what was basically an

MMO RPG Tic-Tac-Toe game.

Yeah.

There was a dungeon master, a map maker, the number guy (who would call out a random number and that would be how many spaces you moved) and the regular players. Throughout each map were merchants and beasts that you had to battle, and an ultimate boss that you had to defeat before you could go through the door to the next level.

It was fantastic. We had so much fun and it has been an inside joke for the last year and a half for us. I just thought of it and was wondering.

Have any of you ever been with your friends (or by yourself) and made up a random game? Maybe based off a regular game, like our MMO RPG Tic-Tac-Toe, or a completely original one?

If you can think of anything, I'd love to hear your stories!!!

MMO RPG Tic-Tac-Toe game.

I don't get it. It is a table RPG on pieces of papers? How can it be Massive Multiplayer Online? XD

Well, yes I have. I was in junior high, and we were talking about Ragnarok Online, an MMORPG we used to play together back then. As our conversation went, we started drawing things, making stats, setting rules, and boom. There were some pages on my friend's book. Three or four pages for storing player's data, one page for map, another one for battle arena, and some pages for items and their prices. It was really fun. We continued playing it, the next day.

RPG TIC TAC TOE sounds fun!

I invented this one game screwing around with some playing cards and building towers with them.

Everybody gets dealt a few cards.  They can either build up their tower, or throw a card at another person's tower to knock it down.  2 more cards are dealt on each player's turn.  The first person to reach a defined tower wins.

It had a lot of luck, skill, and grudges involved XD

(I also invented the EXACT SAME THING as Dungeons and Dragons before I even knew it existed.  Don't you just hate it when you think you invent something and then it turns out that someone already did it?)

Haha, well, the RPG was because we each had our own characters,  (we made the Tic-Tac-Toe board quite a bit bigger) and we were all trying to get to the middle (the door to the next level) the fastest. The MMO part of it was just because we found the idea of a ton of people playing an RPG Tic-Tac-Toe game online humorous. It was added in purely for the lolz. :D

happy.png That sounds like my kind of game right there. I bet it was a ton of fun!

Well, I didn't know about D&D when I played that game. My friend (the guy who started drawing at first) then introduced me Heroes of Might and Magic III, which was very similar to our game. We then spent our afternoon in that guy's house, playing it on Hot Seat mode. He gave me a copy of the game, and my father thought it was a porn CD when I brought it home. XD

I remember having our vampire race way too overpowered. The speed and life steal were annoying as hell. It made other races, including me, teamed up against the vampires.

ohmy.png Your game sounds so awesome!!! I wanna play it now! laugh.png All of the games my friends and I would play would end in grudges. It was inevitable. wink.png But really, that sounds like it would be so cool to play!

Haha, I've done that before! I can't remember what it was, but I was so excited because I thought I had made something cool and my friend was just like, 'That's already been done.'

And I was like, DERP! derpy_emoticon1.png

Not really, i'm not that terribly creative frankly.

Although i did make some really bad drawings when i was young in a notebook i had and pretended it was a game i was going to make. It didn't get very far exactly though ;p.

Haha! I would do that when I was younger as well! In fact, I still do sometimes! Never gets anywhere though. :P

I remember quite clearly in grade school, I would make up a whole world that my pencil and eraser were in. The pencil was the superhero and the eraser was the sidekick. ... Yeah. I didn't have many friends back then. Plus, I used to get everything that was taught really fast so I could space out and still get really good grades. But by golly, that pencil and eraser! They saved the world of desks and binders more times than I can count!

I tried to make a game called, Guess The Drawing. Where I make some drawings, and you have to figure out their meaning. Not much creativity. :P

:D That's cool! It reminds me of a game I used to play with my friends, where we would for a piece of paper three ways and draw either the top, middle or bottom of a creature without looking at the other halfs. ^_^ You should have seen the abominations that came out of that!

Oh, and there was a game where one person would draw something, the next person would recreate it to the best of their ability, and the next would have to rely on the duplicate and not look at the original to try and replicate the previous drawing. Then the last person has to guess what the original was. :P Basically, the first drawing is of a boot and the last drawing is like a giraffe.

I remember once I went on this trip with one of my closest friends at the time, and on the car ride back we came up with a deck of cards game on a whim. We came up with all these rules and I started putting them down on the notes application on my iPod touch. When we got back, we tried the game out and it was actually super fun. I recall us joking around about how we'd become famous if we showed it to people laugh.png It's a shame I don't remember how to play it anymore, and the rules are gone sad.png My friend probably forgot it too.

Aw, too bad you don't remember it! Sounds fun. Cards games are really fun; used to play them all the time, but now I don't know where any cards are. :P
