Hello darkness, my old friend, I've come with talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping, left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain, still remains
Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone, narrow streets of cobblestone
Neath the halo of a streetlamp, I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light, split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw, ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking, people hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never shared, and no one dared
To stir the sound of silence

Fool, said I, you do not know, silence, like a cancer, grows
Hear my words and I might teach you, take my arms then I might reach you
But my words, like silent raindrops fell, and echoed in the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they'd made
And the sign flashed its warning in the words that it was forming
And the sign said the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls, and whispered in the sounds of silence.

This is from memory.

So basically yes, I like Simon and Garfunkel.

I do like Simon & Garfunkel from time to time and I particularly like this song

I know there's a place you walked
Where love falls from the trees
My heart is like a broken cup
I only feel right on my knees.
I spit out like a sewer hole
Yet still receive your kiss
How can I measure up to anyone now
After such a love as this?

Absolutely! Simon And Garfunkel was among the best music the 1960s produced. It's rare that I like most songs a band has created. I'm this way about alot of my favorite bands too. But with S&G I've liked/loved almost everything I've heard by them.

"Cecilia", "The 59th Street Bridge Song", "I Am A Rock" and "Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard" are all great, but their absolute best song is "The Boxer". It's one of the best classic rock songs of all time. The chanting, the strings, the monstrous snare drum smashes and bass horn (whatever it is) are so dramatic, so moving.

Im a pretty big fan- I have been listening to them since I was little. My favorite song by them is "the boxer."

...

"Still, a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest."

this is one of my favorite lines just because its so prominent in our lives... people just stuck in their ways, not listening to what others have to say... im not sure exactly why but this song always gives me goosebumps c:

Rock, you are a rock. Gray, you are gray. Like a rock, which you are. Rock.

I was actually considering quoting that line when I posted it. It's a mantra I've internalized as I navigate through life.

I'm afraid that most of the songs they usually play on the radio, such as Cecilia, Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard, and Mrs. Robinson just don't do much for me. However, The Boxer is one of the finest examples of folk I have ever heard, and being that is becoming one of my favorite genres, that is saying a lot! The ending is so intense!

I also like their rendition of Scarborough Fair:

Got to agree with you on those, they don't do as much for me either, and The Boxer is brilliant, and their rendition of Scarborough Fair is the best I have ever heard.

And I have to say that it's pretty good. But, I still haven't heard any other songs from them. I will look up some more eventually.

Eventually is not soon enough!
