Magical defenses around my home,

I have for when the Timber Wolves roam.

Guardian masks upon my wall,

Keep them away, both big and small.

Probably just magic.

That's almost a good poem, but her masks are that of welcome, not to threaten.

I'd say she knows some sort of potion that repels the Timber Wolves. She's very experience in that department.

Given how apparently easy they are to defeat, she probably has a stockpile of rocks ready for that occasion. :P The smaller ones are probably much harder to hit. The scent theory sounds pretty solid too though. You never really can tell with her. She could potentially know some kind of ancient fighting style from her homeland.

Well, obviously she is a Timber Wolf in disguise.

Or more likely, she uses funky magic to either deter them or stop them noticing her.

I think she uses some combination of fighting and potions. Shes lived in the Everfree Forest for a fairly good time now, so she probably developed some potion that she carries with her to keep them away/keep her safe. If she does use a potion then maybe before she developed it and first started living there she used fighting. She seems like a strong fighter and shes wise so I'm sure she could've gotten by like that at first.

7.62 by 54 millimetre cartridges of steel, brass and nitrocellulose delivered from a Dragunov rifle of course. What else?

As has been mentioned above does she probably have some sort of wicked witchcraft to keep them away. Meh.

She probably has some sort of magic around her house to protect herself. I don't think it would be wise to live in the Everfree forest without some form of protection. Also, she probably knows some epic kung-fu or something. :P

The timberwolves are prissies, they were scared away by rattling pots and pans and didn't venture onto Granny Smith's farm even when the forest surrounded it. Zecora probably just smacked some pans together constantly for an hour to make them scared of her cottage.
