Actually, BronyCurious once addressed this issue, like, if he had to choose one of the Mane Six to go, it would be Twilight Sparkle. Not because she is a bad character, but because she has already achieved more than any other pony.

That doesn't mean, BTW, she must go completely. They could turn her into a supporting character, like Her Highness.

On the other hand it could be Applejack, because she has no character developement. She has no goals or desires, like RD or Rarity, she already has a position in life she ever wanted. Her character flaws were already exploited in "Applejack Season" and "Look Before you Sleep". So it seems like there is no way for her to move forvard.

But.

I believe she is very important for the Mane Six as a group. Especially in adventure episodes. Since the first one she took the role of a second in command. And nopony could handle this role better then she does.

Everypony has a favorite, and want's them to have air time.  I think the show is fine as is.  The dynamic between all of them is what is important.  I understand your point, but why fix something that works?  As long as there are lessons to teach, I really don't care if my favorites get the air time they "deserve".  Anyway, I'll think on it a little more, but  I doubt my opinion will change much.  

 

Anyway... what would a cutie mark for arguing look like?

Her OCD is horribly annoying She is a useless character She is a crappy princess of friendship She is awkward, and bad at making friends so why is she the leader of the "Friendship magic"? She's weak. (In the Season 4 premiere when she gets attacked by plants, he claims that makes her weak.) She's a mary sue. She's annoyingly negative. He claims her magic is weaker than Rarity's...wait, what?

1. "Lesson Zero" is one of the best episodes ever.

2. Useless protagonist? That's news.

3. And what exactly are the job prescriptions for a princess of friendship?

4. Because she is good at holding friends together, I suppouse.

5 vs. 6 = a contradiction (as FNGRpony has already pointed out).

7. Just a repitition of point 1.

8. Nothing against Rarity, but only thing she is really great at is telekinesis. She can precisely manipulate several objects at once. But she never even tried to use any advanced magic. Only other thing I recal she did was locating of jems.

The goal of a well written TV show is for the characters to never reach their goals until the final episode. Twilight simply switched from being a student to being a princess and her goal now is to excel at that. It's not a ending but a amazing beginning. Now none of this means that the others won't keep achieving because they will. Now it may be easy for me to say this because I'm a Twilight fanboy, but I have faith the Mane 5 will develop too and you'll also be happy.
