Heh you can if you like. My thought was that since she's dark colors and Evergreen is a dark shade of green that it suited her a little better than Forest Rift, which to me doesn't seem to have anything to do with her

So do i but it doesn't make much sense and it goes against my usual pony naming rule: name ponies on how they look, not on their talent or personality. Exceptions are names that relate to what the parents' talents are.
The only reason I thought of it was that her greens made me think of forests and Rift popped into my head and the word Rift makes me think of the color black, so I put them together. I dunno.
