Solar was somewhat surprised when the Black Legion member that he first met came up to him.

"I think that I'm good now, but thank you. I'm starting to figure things out." he said before a question poped into his head. "Actually, I may have just thought of one, but I'll have to ask you when there is nopony else around."

Jaeger raised an eyebrow at Solar's statement. "Well....I'll be lookin forward to that question then, but until then I shall ask questions of my own." he said with a slight smirk before asking "So what's it like in the Celestia branch eh? Is it really as strict as other ponies say it is?" he chuckled. "I heard they could turn you into a mindless drone if you stay to long.....your not one..are you?" he laughed tapping Solar's head to make sure it wasn't hollow.

Lee walked over to Moon Crypt and sat down next to him, nodding at his greeting. "Hello...Sir..." The last part he hesitated on. He wasn't used to calling Moon Crypt sir but figured he should do it out of formality, if only for the sake of the more soldierly ponies around him. He looked around again, watching every pony and then turned to his mentor. "If you don't mind my asking, how big is this mission going to be?" Lee looked around the room again, searching every ponies emotions for anything that could cause trouble. "And what would be so important that they need to send a changeling?"

Sunny blinked knowingly at Charcoal's comment, "Heh, yeah, singin's my thing. I dance too. You aughtta try it sometime." She then looked to the group of ponies and Moon Crypt and began to process something to lighten the mood, "In fact...I think I'm gonna do it right now," she said with a sudden jovial attitude as she cleared her throat, "You're welcome to join if ya want."

 

Slowly, Sunny stood up and  proceeded towards the center of the room silently. It almost looked as though she were sad before she breathed in a heavy breath, stretching her lungs and vocal chords. Then, bursting from her mouth, the mare hit a powerful soprano B3 with a jazzy touch to it. "Y'all listen to Sunny now!" The golden maned mare then hammered into her song with her  bold, awe-inspiring voice:

Sunny's smile was brighter than it had ever been before when she finished. She tried to give the same to the others...hope...that was all they needed.

Lee listened to the pony named Sunny sing her song. By the time she finished singing, it was all Lee could do to stop from licking his lips. The happiness and hope emanating from her at that moment more then made up for him missing his lunch in his hurry to get here. He chuckled to himself at that. He never thought he was going to get a show and a lunch. He almost felt his heart lighten up a bit. "Was probably that song." He thought to him self. He had never tasted hope like that before, it was amazing.

Charcoal clapped her hooves together. She was an amazing singer. "Bravo. That was amazing." Charcoal said. "How do you do it? I can't get myself to do anything on a stage or in front of ponies without becoming a nervous wreck. But you go and sing for all of us like it is nothing."

Solar gave Jaeger a look as he began knocking on his head. "I've spent five years in the Royal Guard, three of them being one of Princess Celestia's body guards and one year as commanding officer of the 743rd Sky Guard. Celestia just has strict standards. Standards that have been place for over 1000 years. I learned that when I joined the guard. As for her branch, I would imagine that those same standards apply...if not amplified. You do not want to anger the Princess of the Sun, believe me on that one...." Solar says with a light laugh. "She may seem like she doesn't have a mean or strict bone in her body, but watch out if you get her angry. One of my 743rd Sky Guard pegasi found this out the hard way, being assigned to the Christal Empire....Having to fly there in the middle of winter...Do you have any idea how cold the frozen north is in winter?......"

 

"Let's just say, we do things Celestia's way for a reason. She says fly, your off the ground before she gets the Y out and ready to ask how high Princess."

 

"Now as for the branch of the Inquisitions, I am still new here, so I have yet to learn all the traditions like I did in the guard, but look forward to it."

Solar claps his hooves after the song was done. It was rather catchy, but felt out of place to him. He looked back to Jaeger. "I hate to be the fun police, but I think we need to get to the matter at hoof. We may be going in blind. Until we get our intel, I'd feel more comfortable knowing somepony has my back Jaeger....besides, It seems like even some of the Lord Inquisitors don't always see eye to eye. I could imagine their branches don't also..."

Jaeger listened as the story went on, he nodded every so often to let Solar know he was fully aware of what he was saying. He honestly was not surprised at how Solar had described it.

 

Once he had finished awnsering his question Jaeger gave one final nod. "Not surprised to say the least, at least they teach you to defend and attack, as well as morals.....I guess your not a mindless drone after all." he said with a slight laugh as he clapped his hoofs at the unexpected, but rather uplifting song Sunny had sung.

 

He listened once again as Solar began to explain his views on the situation. Jaeger saw many of his own traits in Solar, and this actually made him like him...somewhat. He patted Solar on the shoulder and smiled widely. "I've got your back, it's my job after all...just don't get me killed eh?" he said with a chuckle. "I honestly could care less who sees eye to eye or not..." he said looking over his shoulder at Shadowblade, remembering what he had told him. "....and if you don't see eye to eye with me I won't care, if I have a job to do it needs to be done. Save all that eye to eye crap until its over." he said in a more serious tone.

Sunny rubbed her mane modestly at Charcoal's remark. "Eh, just ain't any need to worry. Ya never know when ya might make somepony's day," she claimed enthusiastically before turning to address Solar and Jaeger, "and y'all worry just a bit too much. Somethin' about you guard ponies just emits auras of seriousness. Have a bit of faith in the us and the Inquisitor folks and things'll be sure to work out. " The mare gave yet another cheery smile to the pair before turning and trotting back over to Charcoal and plopping down next to her abruptly.

At the end of the song, Moon Crypt clapped politely before checking his watch. "Yes, I believe it is about time we started this brief." He stood up and held open another door as the others entered, closing it behind him. The light shed from the center of the room made his changeling form all too obvious from the light streaming from the table. As everyone settled down in the chair, he pulled out an office file and opened it, laying its contents on the table- it appeared to be topographical maps of a mountain range, a cave system, and a map of a small town labeled "Golden Pines".

 

"This is the Equestrian Western Mountain Band- it connects to the well-known Dragon Mountain from the south and is what separates Central Equestria from Western Equestria. Nestled within these mountains, on the southern end of the Everfree Forest, is a tiny little village known as Golden Pines. It has been separated from the rest of Equestria because of its location, and the last known contact with it was fifty years ago, due to superstition- and truths- about the Everfree Forest." He smiled sadly and shook his head before continuing. "Two days ago, we detected a strong presence of abnormal energy, demonic in origin, but we do not know of its source. Lord Inquisitor Stardust of the Twilight Branch took this matter before the council, demanding that a team of Inquisitors remove the threat." He paused to take a breath. "If there is truly a demonic threat here, it is a dangerous task indeed. Who knows how long the corruption might had been waiting underneath of its surface? So that is why I called on you."

 

"We will be leaving in six hours. Prepare for mountain climates and both combat and diplomatic situations. I have my reasons for bringing each and every one of you on this trip, most reasons I am unwilling to disclose. Let me assure you that. Any questions? Comments?"

 

And with that, Moon Crypt leaned back in his chair, smiling a small, sad little smile, his blue insectoid eyes reflecting the light.

Charcoal raised a hoof. "Um yeah, are we talking about rocky mountain climates or cold? And if this demonic presence is so bad why doesn't one of the princesses deal with it?" Charcoal asked. Only after she asked it did she feel a bit naive for asking such a question.

"So, I can only assume I'm here for combat. After all, my diplomatic skills are rather... Lacking." He said, more of a murmur than a statement. "So, it looks like my bringing poisons everywhere with me finally paid off." He added, now much louder than before, waiting to slink out almost entirely undetected. He didn't have much of a reason to stay in here. But hunting demons, that's what he had been raised to do.

Jaeger sat and listened to the briefing in silence. He began to process everything he was givin. The terrain, weaponry, but the intel seemed to be scarce to him, he couldn't really put something together. So....it's going to be a decide on site scenario....just wonderful. he thought, rolling his eyes in mild frustration. He looked down at the pistol on his side. He figured he was going to need an assortment of weaponry for the changing terrain, but before he could round up his arsenal he had one question. "Excuse me....you mentioned diplomatic situations? What scenario would that fall under of I may ask?" he said, his tone as icy as usual.

Lee finally understood why he had been chosen. Changelings were known for their deception abilities and if it came to diplomacy, he could tell exactly what another pony was feeling and could also shift to a different form to accommodate different situations. He smiled, a genuine smile, his first in a while. "Deception, diplomacy, it all is the same to me. I assume that's why I'm here."  He said, grinning in such a way that his fangs showed. It wasn't a pretty sight, even if he did look like a normal unicorn.

Guardian slipped silently out of the room. He had heard what he needed to, he he headed back and recived gatherd post of his potion stock and threw them into an inchanted backpack, given to him by an aging alicorn. He also grabbed his medical pack, knives and clothes. Just the normal thing for a mountian climb.

David stalked back up to his room. He closed the door and turned around. After taking off the vest he was wearing during the meeting, he pulled everything out of the pockets and transferred them to a larger vest, with a few more pockets (most hidden) and a hood. It was also lined so that it would be warmer then his usual attire. Changelings, being the insect like beings they were, weren't usually bothered by the cold or heat to much. "Never can be to prepared though." He said to himself as he put varying supplies in assorted pockets. The last thing he grabbed was a belt made out of a special rope/string that was so folded up, he had about a mile of rope wrapped around his waist, compacted in to a small belt. After double checking his supplies, he turned around and headed back out. He walked back to the meeting room where they had been debriefed in and sat back down to catch the tail end of the discussion.

Sunny piped up excitedly after the other ponies said their piece, "An adventure? Great Celestia almighty, that sounds like fun! I can't wait! I'd bet there'll be some good views over yonder."  It was as though she blotted out the parts of the danger, combat, and evilness in general, acting as though it were a vacation...The saddest factor for Sunny however, was that she never exactly had much of anything either than her rapier, a small pouch of bits, and some Caramel family Cider-Sugar. She was very lacking for travel and journeying over almost any terrain either than flatlands, yet the mare still ignorantly wished to go by what she believed was her heart telling her to. In her mind, all she needed was happiness, hope, and four strong, hardworkin' hooves. It honestly kind of surprised her though that she was selected for such a mission. Taking out her talent with a rapier, Sunny didn't believe she had too many skills that would help the Council or her team.

 

As the two ponies left to 'suit up,' Sunny simply sat patiently and waited, smiling anytime a pony would look her way. Why do they need me, a singin' and dancin' farmpony?

Lee had been listening to every other pony talk when he finally came up with a question to ask. He thought he saw a problem with the plan and would liked to have it cleared up. "...Sir...Are we all entering the town as one large group? Won't that be a bit suspicious? Shouldn't we enter the town separately? Or at least in pairs? And wouldn't an air ship also be like broadcasting to every demonic force there that we are here? Our entrance isn't exactly inconspicuous."

As Solar sat listening, his mind was racing with ideas. Jotting down ideas on invasion options if need be. His mind was attempting to figure out different angels.

 

He took the map to look at it, studding it in detail, taking notes, but keeping them to himself.

 

By the time the meeting was over, Solar had more than enough information to make a plan or two.

 

When Moon Crypt mentioned having reasons for bringing everypony that was assembled, the first thought that went through his head was why him. Was it his speed in the air, his strength...or something he had not noticed about himself.

Moon Crypt smiled lightly. "If we told the princesses to deal with it, not only would we all be fired, but the Princesses and the Elements would be too stretched thin. That, and, last we checked, the demons were able to counter the Elements of Harmony using their own foul magic."

"Well, not only has it been fifty years since we last encountered them, I found that convincing... let's say... cults? It is a lot easier to convince them to move then to fight your way past, yes?"

Moon Crypt raised an eyebrow. "We aren't. We are going by train to a transfer station called Dodge Junction, which is about a mile or two out from the Everfree Forest, then we are going to hit the forest and trek through it and into the mountains. How we enter the city will depend on what is going on... which we can easily determine before we enter..."

Moon Crypt smiled and shook his head, his gaze fixed on Sunny Caramel. "Everyone is free to go ahead and suit up. I'll be here for another hour or two if you have any questions."

Jaeger nodded slightly. "Sure....whatever you say..." he muttered as he stood and walkedtowards the door of the room as to go and find an amory to get his supplies together.

Jaeger stopped when he passed Solar, It appeared the stallion was in deep thought....or maybe he just dosed off with his eyes open. Jaeger tapped him on the shoulder and spoke quietly as to not disturb the others conversations. "You alright? You look like your thinking hard. If your planning I can understand it. That's what I do as well..."he said pausing at the end for a moment before speaking again. "Why not come get suited up with me? It'll give you a chance to ask me that question." he said with a chuckle.

Charcoal walked up to Sunny and tapped her on the shoulder. "Hey, you want to come get suited up with me? While going alone would be fun, I would like it if I had somepony to talk to instead." Charcoal said. That and she really didn't want to have to talk to anypony else. It was hard enough to talk to Sunny the first time.

Sunny couldn't help but express a wide grin in gratitude of Charcoals offer before looking over to Lee thoughtfully. She the turned back to Charcoal and nodded accordingly, "I'm up for it...so long as we take this here pony-" she nudged Lee identifyingly even though she hadn't formally met him yet, "with us," she said with a hopeful look. Charcoal was being awfully nice to her...She hoped she'd eventually be able to return the favor. "Though, I warn ya, I could probably chatter your hooves off if ya ain't careful," Sunny laughed as she stood up.
