Moved to Elsewhere 11,331 November 19, 2013 Share November 19, 2013 Okay so last night my headphone plug broke off and is stuck in my headphone jack. Now I can't hear any videos or anything related to sound. Do any of you have any suggestions?
That One Techpriest You Used To Know 2,286 November 19, 2013 Share November 19, 2013 Get the plug out of the hole. In theory, it's simple, in reality... not so much. Do you have a technician around your home? If so, shell out the thirty bucks and have him get it out, so you don't void any warranties or something of that nature.

WhiteLight 14 November 19, 2013 Share November 19, 2013 Magnet? Think that will work? I've never actually had that happen to me yet but I'm so scared to death it will NO! Using a magnet can interfere with inner components of your computer and permanently damage it. Get the plug out of the hole. In theory, it's simple, in reality... not so much. Do you have a technician around your home? If so, shell out the thirty bucks and have him get it out, so you don't void any warranties or something of that nature. Take it apart? That's all I got. I agree with you, Magos. It's a better idea to get a professional's help rather than taking it apart and causing permanent damage to the system. 2 Wanna be in my signature? Just PM me. Untitled Goose Q 5,137 November 19, 2013 Share November 19, 2013 Well, the first thing I'd try is attempt to get a purchase on the broken piece with a pair of pliers, but if that doesn't work then you would either have to get a technician to have a look or replace the jack, which would most likely require a replacement of part or all of the casing (on a PC, at least). Doc. Volt 2,561 November 19, 2013 Share November 19, 2013 you can use a magnet.. just remember to remove any memory card or sims... all data can be loss... btw you can't do anything with a magnet since it works with a plug.. tearing it apart also is no use since the cilinder where you out it in is sealed.. the only hope is to use some clamp... time s ago happened to me too.. but since i've got a lab... i placed the mobile in a drill press.. then maded a 1/2 mm hole in the jack with a micro tools, putted inside a small piece of wires, a point of solder.. and then pull... but i don't think you have the equipment or the ability i do this as a job so... caramba2654 602 November 19, 2013 Share November 19, 2013 Well, you can always buy a new computer... Just kidding. Taking the computer apart usually helps, but if it's in the jack, then it might be more complicated. I would try the pliers, as someone else said. The really thin ones, though. Doc. Volt 2,561 November 19, 2013 Share November 19, 2013 sorry i wroted at high speed... it's no use to tear apart the instrument, as the jack is in an encapsulate cilynder... if you want to try the magnet just remember you will probably erase memory banks or flash cards, i have made a small hole in it, solder a wire to it and then pulled.. but DON'T TRY it unless you know what are you doing... instead try with a clamp... trust me i'm an engineer (XD over used quote) Red cross voluntier:""The first to arrive,The last to leave" Proud member of the Code3 Bronies!
