Frost kept his gaze focused on Chain Mail as he ran down the path, rolled his eyes when he stopped to fight the animal. He began to walk towards the town, following his map display. "Do you fight everything you see?" He asked letting out a laugh as he stopped to watch the battle. "Ehhh I guess its one of the easier ways to gain EX." He said, his facing returning to its normal straight expression.

Lightning just kept quiet during the quarrel between frost and chain mail, Frost likes the mace, chain mail and i like the sword. he thought as he watched chain mail fight the wild animal " yeah i guess, but it seems trivial." he said to frost as he started to walk towards the town.

Since the place where the boars spawn isn´t very far from the town Lightning decided to walk around the town where she hoped to find some more quests.

She found just another two quests she could do, one of which involved making a campfire and cooking a piece of meat on it. The other one was somewhat harder, but the reward was a somewhat better scythe. Her quest log said "find the farmer outside of town."

Lightnings minimap didn't show where he was. Looking back on it the questgiver stated that the farmer was lost and that's why the boars are attacking.

 

Since Lightning still was new to gaming she first thought of doing her quests one by one, but that'd take too much time.

Outside of town, where the boars were, Lightning didn't see any NPC so instead of looking further for him she just went and slayed the ten boars she had to.

Lightnings experience bar was almost full so she wanted to kill a couple more just to level up.

She sneaked up to a boar and readied her weapon. It began glowing a somewhat dark purple. When Lightning released the energy she jumped towards her target, got the blade of the weapon at the targets neck and then she jumped back again.

 

"So this is a so called "Sword skill"." Lightning thought.

She didn't know how to perform one, until now. 

Lightning now wanted to learn all of them. It felt pretty easy to kill stuff with it.

"Now to find that farmer pony." She tought.

"Yes, I do fight everything I see to the death. Partially because it's easy XP." He said, bringing his sword down and causing the mob to disintegrate into dust. "But also because it's fun." He added, putting the flat of his blade against the back of his neck. "And I was trained to fight."

Frost stared blankly at Chain Mail, he could already tell that they were more than likely never going to see eye go eye. "I could have guessed, as I'm sure a lot of ponies here were taught to fight as well." He stated, shrugging his shoulders slightly. He brought up his menu and looked at his map, he selected the next town and brought up its available quests. "Huh, some of these quests are open at certain times....looks like mine isnt until dawn.....why dont we do some hunting to pass the time...i get the feeling we started off on the wrong hoof." He said, scanning the surrounding area.

"Makes sense. It seems to me that who ever made this game aimed for realism." He said, cleaving the nearest mob in half. "By the way. Who in the fire caves do you pull up that menu?" He asked. He had never played a game before. In fact, he was handed this game by a CO and told to stay in it until he became a functioning, and non-sociopathic, member of society.

Zephyr chuckled. "Ya everything seems so real! I'm new at this Nerve Gear stuff as well, so maybe it would be best if we stuck together." Zephyr pointed his hoof off into the distance. "According to the guide book some of the first quests will be off in the 2nd town, which is thataway I believe" Zephyr hesitated for a moment before asking, "Have you tried the combat system yet? I don't quite understand it myself just yet." He swiped his hoof and brought up his menu. After a moment, he found his lance and equipped it. Then motioning towards a boar he asked, "Wanna give it a shot?"

Frost stopped and looked up from his own menu to look at Chain Mail and tilted his head. "Well I could ask how you've made it without using it, but it is early so here let me show you." He said as he closed his menu to demonstrate the opening process. He held his hoof straight out in front of him and paused so that Chain could see, he then brought his hoof back down to its original position. The menu then opened to its main screen in front of him. "There now you try." He said

Thunder spent her first hour or so with the game running around a large forest outside of the starting town. Killing some generic enemies such as boars, spiders, and other creatures. She got used to the combat system very quickly as it was very similar to other nano gear games she had played in the past. After she racked up a a lot of XP her dagger started to glow purple. "Sweet! Level Up!" she said as the words flashed across the screen.

New Perk Speed Blade: Dagger speed is increased by 15%

 

Thunder Roller grinned and decided to head into town. She found a rather simple quest involving cooking a piece of meat over a campfire. The reward was some basic armor. (Midnight never clarified what reward for this one was so I just thought to go with this.)

"Alright, seems simple enough. Thunder said as she walked into the trees to collect some wood. Soon she had a nice fire going and her boar meat was cooking very nicely. Maybe some other players will notice the fire.

Sparkey saw two players chatting and quickly ran over to them. "Sorry, but do any of you have a log out button? I need to log out but I can't find it." He looked at the two player's names. Zephyr and Terra. He opened his menu again and looked through it, but still, there was no log out.

    Stormwing was excited. Really excited. He had gotten one of the last few copies of Equestria Online. He had wasted no time getting home; he had flown home in an instant. He excitedly sat down in his room and flicked the computer on, making sure that everything was in place. Stormy placed the Nerve Gear helmet on his head, flapping his wings in excitement. "This is sure to be fun." 

 

    He was morphed into the world without the knowledge that he would be here for a long time.

   

    Nonetheless, he was excited and did not know. He stood in a big empty space, with a glowing screen in front of him. "Ooooh!" There were numerous boxes to fill, things to select... So he got started. He typed his name out with the little pen-like writing apparatus that had been provided for non-magical ponies. He saw this screen, which he had already began to fill out:

There was plenty more to be filled out. Naturally, he picked "Pegasus" for his race, and "Broadsword" as his weapon. Later, after he was finished completely, he checked the box that said "I agree to the terms and conditions". He never read those. As soon as he clicked "Accept", he was dissolved and then placed into the game. 

 

    He was in a town with no idea where he was at. There were ponies bustling around, some wearing new armor, some brandishing new weapons. Most were simply chatting about. Somepony said something about a log-out screen, but he couldn't hear all of that and paid no attention to it. He figured he might as well go off and explore a little before attempting to make some new friends. "Here goes." He trotted off towards the center of town.

(Sorry for taking so long. I had a christmas party I had to go to)

And so, Chain Mail went through the motions. "Well, that's better than anything I had in real life." He said, scrolling through the screen. "Huh, level 3. How interesting." He said out loud as he scrolled through the rest of the menus. "Huh, no sign out screen." He added as he closed out his menu.

Frost tilted his head, "Dont be stupid there has to he a log out option." He chuckled as he reopened his menu. "See you just scroll down and its right........where is it? Probably just a bug I guess. He said trying to shrug off his worry. "Come-on.....there's gotta be good hunting opportunities around here." He smiled

A pony smacked facedown in the center of the group of players. He had been flying and had lost control. "Oh, uh, hello there." He had a black broadsword strapped to his back, between his wings. He stood and looked around. "Was I interrupting you? I can leave, or if you wanted to start a group..."

"Oh there is. I've been in these woods for the last few hours." He said, jumping in the air, landing blade first on a wild boar, then threw the boar at another boar. Both Lvl. 1 boar died from the attack. "Wild enemies like that spawn all over the place in here. That's probably why I hit lvl. 3 so fast."

Lost wandered through the for a while. She was in awe at the games city designs and graphics. The ponies almost looked... "May I help you?" She jumped when an ncp talked to her. She hadn't expected it to react, and with such emotion too. "Very impressive." she thought. She pulled out a book and started taking notes while the Ncp talked. 

 

She wasn't taking note of what he said, but instead, she took notes of what he was doing and her surroundings. She loved the technical part or gaming just as much as playing.

 

She jumped when the Ncp spoke to her again and said, "I'm sorry, but all available quest have been taken; save for one." It held out it's hoof, and a screen appeared.

She pressed accept and gave the Ncp a pat on the cheek. "You've just made my day." She lightly chuckled as she headed off towards the city's outskirts to collect materials. "I can't wait to get crafting. Maybe even met another player."

After getting a killstreak, higher than needed, Lightning finally found the NPC she was looking for. 

Before talking to it Lightning cooked a porkchop for another quest in the town.

"So the mayor has send you, didn't he?" the NPC started. "​The reason my livestock has been acting up is because of a group of imps. If you'd get rid of them I'm sure traveling to the town will be possible again."

Another quest Lighting accepted after getting her new weapon.

It did a little bit more damage, but after using her starting weapon so much she needed something better since Lighting soon would reach the fourth level.

 

On to the imps it was. They were probably about the same level as Lightning since the quest showed up with a yellow title. The rest of the text said "Imp minions killed 0/5, Imp master killed 0/1".

The minimap revealed a small cave where the targets would be.

Lightning wanted to test out her new weapon, as well as some attacks she came up with herself.

Since nopony talked to her yet, except for the obvious NPCs, she hoped somepony was on the same quest so she could get rid of her shyness.

Frost was about to open his mouth to reply when another player fell in the middle of his group. He stared for a moment as the pony slowly rose to his hooves. "No...no you weren't interrupting anything at all....but if you'd like to join us for a nice little hunt I have no objections to it at all." He replied with a wide grin.

@, Lightning had just made it to the outskirts of the town and saw Lost Thought walking, he ran up to her and said "hello there, who might you be, i'm lightning." he said smiling looking at her wrench "interesting weapon choice." he said waiting for her to respond.

Lost was shocked at first by the pony running up to her. She panicked and thought it was a hostile ncp. She drew her wrench since it was the only weapon she had on her, but lowered it when she saw it was another player.

 

He had asked her about her name and weapon of choice. She paid more attention to one question than the other, "You think?" She was happy to see someone take interest in her wrench, possibly another inventor? "I have a knack for building things. I guess when I entered the game, I didn't think that should change... Oh, where's my mind, my name's Lost. Lost Thought."

Stormy grinned and stood back up, looking around. "I'd love to join. Brand new player here." He extended a hoof to the other pony, smiling brightly as his ear twitched. "I'm Stormwing. Storm, if you'd like. Most ponies call me that." He seemed like a very friendly pony.

((OOC:I am confused... his avatar is named Zephyr or Scratched Disk? I though his avatar was Scratched while Zephyr was playing the game)) He was about to try the combat system when he was interupted by another player named Sparkey. 

"What are you talking about? No logout button? That's crazy! Hold on a minute imma check it."

Interacting with the interface he didn't see any button that suggested logging off, exiting, no x, no nothing...

"Maybe it's voice activated hold on let me try. "Exit!", "Alt+F4", "Alternative Button plus F four!", "Shut Down!", "Close!", "Log-Off!"..." slowly the realization came to mind, but there was still hope this could all be a lie. "Has anyone of you tried removing the Nerve Gear?"

@, Lightning looked around then back to lost thought "well it's nice to meet you, i'm not really a builder myself, more of a singer." he said yawning, he had little sleep before coming into the game "oh sorry, i'm just really tired, i think i'm gonna log out." he said pulling up his menu, after scrolling through everything twice and finding no log out  button or anything like that "apparently not, i couldn't find a log out button." he said calmly, hoping not to alarm Lost Thought.

Frost smilied at the stallion, "It's nice to meet you Storm, I'm frost and this is Chain Mail, here hold on let me send you both a party invite and then we can start our little hunting session." he exclaimed in a happy tone as he opened his menu, found his recent players, and sent them both an invite to his party.

Frost turned around to see that Lighting was no longer behind him. "Darn I was gonna ask him to party up next." he muttered in a slightly sad tone. He opened up his recent players list again and found Lightings name. He sent him a friend request along with a message attachment. Hey it's Frost, I hope we can meet again....you seem like a strong player, one I could use on a team. he smiled and pressed send

((OOC: His avatar name is Scratched Disk, though Zephyr is playing. I'm thinking that after the "revert back to real looking" I will also have this avatar name changed to Zephyr just to cut back on the confusion. Sorry about that)

 

Zephyr started to feel panic rising from within him. "I don't think you can from this side! Not with how the Nerve Gear works..." Zephyr was on the brink of collapsing on the ground. He was hyperventilating, and his world seemed to be spinning. He felt sick to his stomach and was wondering if it was possible to throw up in EQO. Just as he was about to find out. a strange light appeared around him and he felt himself being pulled through it.

The next thing he knew, Zephyr was standing in a plaza at the beginning town. The noise was deafening. "What's going on?!" Zephyr shouted. his voice seemed to get lost in the noise. "Terra, do you kn... Terra?" Zephyr looked around frantically. combing his eyes over the crowd. Terra was no where in sight. Neither that other pony that had just joined him. "TERRA!" He shouted, again voice lost in the crowd. Zephyr took a deep breath and studied the surrounding area. He was standing next to a unicorn wielding a sword and a earth pony with a large wrench. He was about to give up hope on finding Terra, when he remembered something he read in the book. There was a messaging system! Zephyr quickly found the section and wrote, "Hey! Are you alright?!"
