I just downloaded Linux Mint 17 and got wifi working on it.

I love it so far.

It's like having a brand new computer. Wiped my hard disk and started with a clean slate. Everything is working super well now. Before I had malware, adware, and all sorts of shit slowing my compt down. My hard disk had 64gb of space and it was all nearly used up by useless programs that came with it when I got it (hand me down).

And its all gone.

Meh heh...heh heh...heheheheh.

MWAHAHAHAHA!

It's a beautiful thing killing the bloat KelGrym!

The only reason I keep Windows around is for Adobe and my work issued laptop. My daughter even has Ubuntu on her laptop and loves it.

After trying openbox+tint2+conky..

I dont think I can look with a straight face on XFCE or monsters like gnome/kde ever again  :umad:

Probably not the best thread to post it in, but I've been fiddling with openbox and tint settings recently and made this:

Recently downloaded ToME for linux, a popular rougelike.

Figured out how to unpack the tar and everything, but when I launch the game launcher, it can't update patches because it doesn't have a directory to write the data to.

I can open the game itself, however, I won't get updates.

Any help?

I'm thinking of installing Linux for a PC build I'm getting since I probably won't have money for a copy of Windows 7 64 AND a dedicated card. (Or even 8.)

Of course I am getting this machine for playing GAMES. Luckily I have found a program called "Wine." Would you recommend it if I wanted to play some good games that were meant for Windows but to play on Linux?

I've had some good luck with Wine before. There's a compatibility list here if you're interested in how specific games or apps run:

Everything looks good so far in my searches. I think I might even STICK with Linux.  :)

As much as I loved using Linux in school, and it's slow growth in gaming, Windows is still dominant (gaming wise)

So I'm stuck with Windows, but I like Linux a lot more.
