honestly, killing/defeating/imprisoning Dracula has lost all novelty. There have been several people who've defeated Dracula and not been of Belmont blood, so I don't think it's really as mandatory as it use to be

Richter got his ass possessed only a few years after beating Drac. Julius had the power to defeat Dracula and seal him away for good.

 

Not to mention that he has so much raw power that his most powerful attacks, nearly forty years after he beat Drac, could crumble the chaotic form of Dracula's true castle.

 

No seriously. In the fight with Julius in Aria of Sorrow he uses an attack that makes gigantic chunks of the castle several miles away crumble and fall to the Earth!

honestly, killing/defeating/imprisoning Dracula has lost all novelty. There have been several people who've defeated Dracula and not been of Belmont blood, so I don't think it's really as mandatory as it use to be

Intentional storytelling or a company holding onto a franchise as long as they can? We may never know but the constant revivals of Dracula will make the final defeat in 1999 all the more satisfying even if we do know what happens afterward in the Sorrow series.
