Artleck 70 January 6, 2014 Author Share January 6, 2014 My apologies but if you meant the St Johns Wort that I mentioned earlier, it's not a place that you would go to but a natural supplement that you take. Here's some more information if you're interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypericum_perforatum wow.... that is some plant. I didn't realise it was a plant xD Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/ApplesBrony
Sn0wblind 78 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 Depression can strike without warning or reason. Sometimes, it can be simple nutritional deficiency. I've noticed that sometimes when I'm in a constant, inescapable depression 5-HTP supplements can help turn me into a neutral mood. I find it as not a "happy pill" but a supplement that swings your mood to equilibrium. Try pinning activities or states that cause you to trigger depression. I've noticed with me downtime made me depressed because it was inactivity that caused me to pause and let my mind run amok. I helped combat that by constantly staying busy, even when I didn't want to. It may be that hanging around friends who have a GF or a partner too much that makes you depressed because you see how happy they are. Whatever it is, try and pinpoint it and compensate. It's tough man, I know. Being single sucks and in this day and age when social bonds are exceptionally tough to form due to the degrading of their value, it is even more difficult to forge a meaningful relationship. Just keep trying even when it seems hopeless. 3 "Needs a little moar DERP..." Techpony (Inactive) 75 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 I'd like to add on to Sn0wblind's post that it's difficult at first but if you find something to keep your mind busy, it does help immensely. As for finding a girlfriend, it imho isn't the end of the world. I go by the philosophy that the right person will come eventually so I would go out and try to enjoy myself but that's just me though.

SomariFeyWright 776 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 I don't go into spiraling depression at any given moment. I'm a very positive, idealistic person who's honestly very hard to really sadden. But good GOD is it easy to give me depression. When I was in ninth grade, for the first time in my life, I started getting bad grades. The rapid difficulty spike from 8th to 9th was too much to handle, and my grades went down FAST. My parents started taking away all television, video game, and internet access for long periods of time. And as my parents can tell you, that was the worst year of my life. I was a serious downer. I stopped going out much, my overall mood was gloomy, I sometimes randomly went into crying spurts just because of all the friends I couldn't talk to... Hell, fleeting thoughts of suicide even bounced around in my head every now and again. And the hardest kick in the shin? My grades didn't improve at all. In the aftermath of all that, my dad tells me I was actually showing signs of minor depression, which honestly didn't surprise me. Since then, punishments are shorter and much less extreme, but still get the point across. ... Yes, I know, I'm a pathetic person. <<; Awesome signature made by Tromino. Throwaway19573639385 764 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 I have chronic depression so I get depressed a lot. I have some ways to get out of the depressions more easily. Mainly being more positive or enthusiastic, sometimes a bit too much, but it helps. A lot. After a while I realized that talking, even to a stranger, helps a great deal. Self-improvement is important, but a little help from others can become a great blessing. Secondly, do something that makes you lose energy, in any form. Be it drawing, working out, singing. Just try something new, something random and exciting, something that keeps your mind off everything that's bothering you at the moment. I bet you'll feel better right away, as long as you keep an open mind and a positive attitude to whatever you're doing. So, there're plenty of ways to get out of a depression. The only thing you gotta do is stop feeling sorry for yourself and stop moping around, picking up the shovel again and start working on your life. Standing still only makes it easier to give in despair, so please don't do it.

Wayzer 1,418 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 (edited) @, Ok this will probably sound cheesy but if I feel depressed I always try to do something productive. It might be helping somebody or do some chores. It makes me feel a lot better if I can make somepony just feel better And nah, I never got depressed at all. But here it has to be pretty serious to be called depressed. I have felt down and sad a couple of times of course. But not like depressed. chaoticgeek2 71 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 Yup, I probably have negative thoughts about myself and my life every other minute. I try to be more cheerful and optimistic for friends in their time of need but ultimately I'm a downer.

Silly 19 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 I have recently been very depressed due to a close friend dying of cancer, my cousin got the plug pulled yesterday morning, and I have just been having major money problems for the last few years. I am starting to recover or rather get used to it. And ApplesBrony, you are defiantly not the only one who gets depressed easily or often. Whenever I'm down I watch my favorite feel good shows. They always put me in a good mood. Also make sure to get plenty of sleep, I know it seems silly but when I don't get enough sleep I get sad much more easily. I get a little Cranky Doodle Donkey when I don't get my sleep too. 1 Big thanks to Seafoam446 for creating this signature!
Neon Fire 473 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 I used to a few years ago when all this crap was going on. I've gotten used to it and have learned to just stop caring. notdog1996 315 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 (edited) I'm actually depressed at the moment. The worse is, I know why I'm depressed and I know what could rid me of depression, but I can't have it now . I have an appointment in February with a psychiatrist, which I'm really looking forward to. I never really experienced depression before this year (well, 2013, that is), so I guess I'm not prone to it naturally. Painted Lattice 131 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 Yeah, I suffer from anxiety (esp. of the social kind) and depression but fortunately not too, too terribly. When it hits hard though, it hurts hard. I know how it is. Lately I've been feeling like I've just been throwing away the things that matter to me most--friends, boyfriends, grades. When I get sad I kinda just withdraw and sit like a lump. Feeling okay today though. I'm not really throwing that stuff away though it's just the feeling that I am. I left those guys for very good reasons but I keep thinking back on it and blaming myself for doing it. Everyone tells me I'm too hard on myself. Maybe you should try being easier on yourself, see if that helps. I'm here to talk to anyone who needs it. Taking psychology in school, I might be of help.

~Master~ Button Mash 2,307 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 Yes, and I'm going through it now, actually. Life hasn't been very easy lately, from a couple of fronts. Hiding my sexuality is stressful, along with body dysmorphia, and the stress of having just moved again is just…all piling up. :/ 1 Follow me on Tumblr! http://stratosthestallion.tumblr.com
Revy ~ Two Hands 862 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 (edited) I've had my bouts with feeling shitty. I've never called it 'depression' though but I could have easily been diagnosed with it. I'm doing better now it's been a rough year. Self medication was my way if dealing with it. The best way to lessen feeling shitty is to remain occupied, you probably feel like you want to be on your own when you're feeling rough. That's fine most of the time as long as you aren't just sitting there letting your bad feelings creep up on you if you don't decide to do something else it can get to the point where your helpless. Go for a walk, do some chores listen to music, read, play videogames, post in a forum Do anything but don't just sit there. PoniesPlease 365 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 Speaking as someone who's had depression since they can remember, I can tell you this: It's okay. It all feels hopeless at times, and that's part of it. But remember that you can only feel this way if you have felt something really good before. That feeling will come again, and when it does, what you;re feeling now will be a distant memory. Hang in there champ.
Malinter 3,064 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 I have anxiety that seems to make it much easier for me to be disturbed by things that years ago would never make me even bat an eye lid. ~Silver Essence~ 2,625 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 Somewhat, but not really. Most of the times, I remain calm towards any situation, and remain as best suited to my extent to make sure I don't worsen. That, and I try my best to get cheerful so it doesn't get to me, because if you know me, I tend to go deep within the darkness of depression if I don't act quick... Artleck 70 January 7, 2014 Author Share January 7, 2014 I think because I go back to college now. I think I'll be a lot more happy. Since my friends don't mind that I am brony, & one of them is a brony. :3 . also another good thing. I live in the UK, so I go college then go back home at times. like today I go college at 11:30am and come back home at 3:00pm. It makes me more happy to be around my friends since they are supportive. 1 Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/ApplesBrony
