I read a fanfiction (sort of) where Shoeshine later visited Rarity and Pinkie Pie and gave them the idea that perhaps Fluttershy had always felt that way, but was too kind to say so. Back on topic, um i'm gonna cop out and take digi's response (cherry pic if i will) and say It's a purely subjective response on flutter shy's response that she normally isn't thinking about. your theory suggests if flutter shy had some kind of terrats that made her scream out the truth she'd be spitting out brutally honest information about her friends constantly cause that's at the for front of her mind, don't get me wrong that's interesting, but i think flutter shy thought of those things as a defensive tactic. Just how I react poorly to someone posting "Oh you," or "haters gonna hate" to trivialize me or some other baiting tacting by hitting the God damn ceiling because such antics strikes a raw nerve with me. it's a hot button. I can be told "oh that's negligible" and that's interpretive. Just how flutter shy was getting into her new assertive self felt threatened about losing it and lashed out. It's a valid reaction. Maybe not a healthy one^^. Flutter shy doesn't lash out to defend her current demenear because her current mind set is timidity. She chooses to do that. In truth Fluttershy, like all the ponies, has changed and grown, so to be fair-she's both. She's kind and compassionate, but can stand up for herself when needed. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. She had probably thought those things at some point in the past-but with the new persona the random thoughts became weapons to use against what she perceived as an attack. Your mind is where all your unrestrained bile lies. But most of the time when you cool down, you think, "No that was just the anger talking." Fluttershy was angry and bitter of years of being a doormat, and when she get's some unwise advice from someone which appears to solve her problems, she gets swept up in the sudden power trip. Somewhere inside, Fluttershy might actually believe that parties and fashion are kind of frivolous. But on the other hand, Fluttershy has been shown to have an impressive knowledge of fashion and sewing. Why would she know that if she thought it was worthless? I think Fluttershy was on a bitter, angry, adrenaline fueled power trip, and all she wanted was to assert power over others. And a good way to do that is to hurt their feelings. If you know them as well as she knows Pinkie and Rarity, then you'll know what will hurt their feelings the most. But that doesn't make it okay. Someone doing that in the real world would be in need some some serious therapy to deal with their bottled up rage. And their friends might never forgive them.
