Some exciting news from the MLP livestream from Hasbro (spoilers)

Hey,

So, there is some exciting news from MLP livestram going on from Hasbro its self.

One, is it is offical. Twilight will get her own kingdom at the end of season four called the Rainbow Kingdom. Here is the livestream that says it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcZ3yN6pGiw#t=35

Second, the Rainbow Kingdom will tie into the show somehow. Probably as like a power center for the Mane 6? That would be cool I guess.

Now, some exciting news! MLP will be around for another five years according to Hasbro. Yes, another five years of ponies, and there will be new characters added, cameos, and much, much more coming.

Here is the article from Equestria Daily: http://www.equestriadaily.com/2014/02/hasbro-investor-webcast-information-eqg.html

So, are you guys excited about these upcoming changes? Or do you think they will affect the show negatively?

I'm always excited about seeing what comes next, I like way they've been experimenting more and trying to evolve the story and characters.

RAINBOW

FUCKING

KINGDOM?

HELL NO

Now, that's no way to react.

I can imagine most of the fandom reacting with negative reactions, and thinking that the show is going to go down the tubes from these decisions by Hasbro. Honestly, I'm not going to lie and say that these changes won't leave any raised eyebrows. Although, I'm not mad about this. All we know is the premise, don't judge it if you didn't see what is going to happen yet.

Here is my two cents about it:

I'm actually glad they're doing this. Look at shows like Spongebob. That show has the same old stale characters doing the same thing over and over again!

But MLP...they're giving their characters new grounds to tackle, new obstacles. In my opinion this can only be good. Adding new actions and new obstacles will let the show grow and grow and make it more fresh.

Right now I feel strangely isolated... although this feeling is familiar. I'm sat back with this bottle of Tango Cherry, hearing Rainbow Kingdom and thinking "Hmm, Rainbow Kingdom? Sounds interesting... wonder what they'll do with it." Around me, people have jumped forward out of their chairs, dropping to their knees in despair and wailing to the ceiling "RAINBOW KINGDOM?! IT'S A CATASTROPHE!"

And I call out into the tearful conglomeration of Bronies and say "It's two words!"

I mean, from the video linked in the OP, and the first few comments in this thread, the fandom hate this idea. How can you hate something if all you know is the premise? Remember when we learned about Shining Armor and Cadance? Nobody was looking forward to that, and it blew our socks off. Besides, a Rainbow Kingdom is only fitting. If Celestia and Luna preside over one kingdom, and Cadance presides over the Crystal Empire, it's only right that the last princess in the monarchy, Twilight, gets her own kingdom too. And what else could be more fitting than a Rainbow Kingdom? It ties in wonderfully with the Rainbow keys we've been seeing this series!

Hmmm.... not liking that name much, Doesn't have the same ring to it as Canterlot or the Crystal Empire. Hell, why not just name it after her and all it the Twilight Kingdom? or name it after the Everfree if that indeed is what the restoration of the castle was about.

I don't exactly know how to react to the news. Still on Season 1, to be honest (watching MLP from the beginning, all the way through).

xD Saw the article on Equestria Daily before you started this thread.

I'm not a hardcore brony (though I am one, just more closet-brony), so this news doesn't exactly make me wanna throw random objects around...

Anyone actually imagine Twilight being able to manage a kingdom?

If You didn't know, there will be apparently "rainbow power" or in other words each member of the mane 6 will have a "super" version, which they wont need to wear their element anymore, because they will BE their element, which is (Spoiler!)probably what is in the box. http://www.equestriadaily.com/2014/01/rainbow-power-display-massive-manes.html

Rainbow kingdom seems to be fitting, due to the (Spoiler!) new powers they will be getting(Spoiler!)

There better be a epic boss battle by the end of this

Remember how everything thought the Wedding was going be a horrible mess, and Cadance was going to be a mary sure because she was a Alicorn?

Yet, the Wedding turned out be one of the best episodes in the entire series.

Twilight Kingdom

Twilight Kingdom...

The picture I instantly drew in my mind was one of a flying city that sits between Celestia's Equestrian Empire of Day and Luna's Moon Empire of the night.

Twilight's Sky Empire of the Horizon sounds pretty badass to me :3

That's a silly statement if you ask me.

"Twilight Sparkle kills Rainbow Dash" - You're telling me you wouldn't hate this upon hearing a premise like this?

Eh, that episode was pretty decent. If the song would have sucked and if it wasn't as big in scope it would have been mediocre.

Unlikely. If they handle her kingdom like they do her wings, they'll just ignore it completely and act like nothing changed.

I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the name Rainbow Kingdom, by the way. Don't get me wrong. It ties in well. But I don't know if I like the name lol

Well, just like I did when I got into the show in the first place, I'll just have to watch with an open mind. I just hope that they don't go too far and ruin the characters. I want to see them grow, and 5 more years is a long time to do it in. But it also gives them a lot of time to screw things up. Remember Season 3? Who's to say that won't happen again?

I don't care for the new rainbow-fied looks either. I'd rather them look the same...and who knows? Maybe their looks change.

post-6322-0-38833000-1392402669.png

But that just doesn't look that good to me. Crystal Ponies were WAY better than this. They can create a new kingdom without changing them altogether, imo.

Either way, Rarity says it all here

Hope for the best

Maybe.  But this feels like another case of gratuitous pandering.  A blatant 22 and 1/2 minute toy ad, not unlike the nearly indigestible transformation of Twilight Sparkle into a princess.  I can tell immediately when these hard sells happen simply by how jarringly they are presented.  I'd love to be wrong, but for now, I'm skeptical.

After season 5 or early season 6 MLP is gunna be as bland, and as boring as the simpsons. Filled to the brim with pointless celebrity cameos, SJW issues brought up for no good reason, episodes focused on a character that previously had done little due to how annoying their character was, and without major change said annoyance is thrown into the audiences faces continuously. Some times ending a show really can be the best thing for it, ending it on a high note rather than letting it turn into the simpsons of childrens shows.

Rumor Says that they will have a totally different persona when they "transform"

(You should have put that in a spoiler!)

post-24604-0-32314400-1392403442.jpg

and-

I would think that after season 4 they will put a long break

after the long break they would either-

1. Continue the story of the mane 6- trying to ignore the fact that twilight manages a kingdom (that means- with or without twi with the others)

2. Move on to tell the story of another set of ponies (most likely)
