Five more years of pony and plans for the future.

As you may have heard Hasbro plans to keep MLP going for at least five more years maybe more than that. I wrote this today on Equestria Daily and I wanted to share with the forumers here so here are my plans and hopefully maybe some of you will follow.

 

 

 

Even when the show ends on its final episode I am still going to be a Brony contributing fan made music like I do and watch the episodes I have already seen again and again. I hope you guys follow me and stay a Brony even after the last episode together we can make MLP last a longer time than 9 years and keep doing all the fan made things that we have been doing. What I am saying is let's be Bronies and keep the show alive but in a different way we the Bronies can keep the show going on with our amazing talents together.

I'll be honest, as long as the cast still remains for the most part, and are willing to remain loyal to their fanbase of bronies, I guess I'm cool with it.

 

I just worry that it will be the next spongebob or family guy, where you love it at first, but now you wish it would end as it's overstayed it's welcome.

I totally agree, i really hope that the fandom stays Strong even long after the show has diminished. I expect some people will probably leave or just forget the show, the artists will either make new art or keep on with the show, the fic writers will either bundle up on some other site or they will make even more epic stories that will captivate us all. I heard about the extra five years of the show, and I'll just say my thoughts below.

 

If the writers and the voice actors along with the animation will stay the same, the fandom should still support them since without the two factors there wouldn't be a show or a fanbase to begin with. We just hope there will be no decline in quality, similar to Spongebob and Family Guy.

I second this. If it doesn't go down the path Spongebob and Family Guy did, I'll be very happy. However, we have absolutely no way of knowing this. Unless, of course, you guys can time travel. where's the doctor? we may need him.

I don't know...that sounds like a LONG time to keep a show like this going...

So 130 episodes? 

 

If so then I don't know... depends on how good they make the episodes, but either way I'm happy to see more MLP

My thoughts exactly. No matter how liked or popular a show may be, eventually it could reach a point were it long over stayed its welcome and who's only purpose now is to be milked for every last dollar they can get. 

 

Though a more hopeful though is that all I've heard so far is that there will be five more years of "pony". They never said anything about five years of Friendship is Magic as far as I'm aware. Maybe there'll be a new series still in line with Gen 4, but with a new cast of characters and theme. Perhaps we can even foresee Gen 5 somewhere down the line, all this is baseless speculation on my part.

 

I can't say where I'll be five years down the line. Maybe I'll take a break if the series suffers a sever decline in quality and come back when it picks up like I did with Yugioh Zexal, I don't know. What I do know however is that I still have boatloads of fanfiction to keep me busy in the meantime.

I'm with the people worried about decline in quality. And with the way they've been treating Princess Twilight, I'm not too sure they can make a long series without losing quality. Or even a change in the focus, shifting from slice of life to adventure. This is actually personal opinion.

 

But I'm being negative here. This season IS great and I think that the future holds great things for the fans... Even if I still would like to see a movie with the ponies and Equestria. There is hoping.

Very excited to hear that we won't have to worry about the show ending for a long time yet. Just hope as well it doesn't fall down the same path as Spongebob and The Simpsons.

If they advance the setting/timeline they might be able to pull it off, otherwise we'll probably be in for a slow decline.

At this point i have came to the conclusion that every ones opinion on this and i mean everyone is as follows

Goodness, cool that we'll get ponies for a long time from now on, but, as with many, I'm also scared that it might decline it's quality.

Since watching the show is all I do to contribute to this fandom, I don't know if I'll be able to keep the brony title once the cartoon comes to a close. I'll probably refer to myself as a "post-brony", though.

 

But yeah, I also wish the quality doesn't run into the ground by then. The only reason The Simpsons won the world record for the longest running sitcom of over 20 years was because they ran the quality straight down after the 5th or 6th season.

   I am quite optimistic for both the show and the fandom, as the characters become deeper and congruent, the animation clear and frivolous, we may see a golden age of MLP, for you see generation four was the renaissance of My Little Pony, from its humble yet primitive beginnings as generation one, MLP has superseded all expectations, and has forged a new culture and epoch of understanding and expression. It is untapped new potential, as new fans join the herd, crossing national barriers, and stretching the threshold of the jovial human civilization, now the show can become better, so if it does we as bronies will evolve with it, just think of the possibilities, new pony art yet unseen, new pony songs yet unheard, new fan fiction yet unread, new pony characters yet unknown, and all it needs now is new bronies and pegasisters, to unravel their talents and bring it to life, I know my pony art is improving, some day I hope to animate it like Jan Animations, who brought us Button Mash. Now there is always the chance of setback, or hindrance that could delay a season or episode, our artwork is not the only thing improving, but our person, we argue less, and cooperate more, just as long as we have the goal in view, we can be an fandom that is the envy of popular culture, showing the world that no matter how diverse we are, we can join together to express our joy for MLP, and build new friendships are real as we want them to be, as real friends not just internet friends, thus my brony friends we can look to a bright future, full of lustre and risk, but to Equestria we gallop, and canter in union we will see what My Little Pony has in store for us in these five years.

There was a point in time where we speculated on if MLP can achieve the same airing time as Family Guy or even the Simpsons. Though, one problem with Family Guy is that they've changed so much over the years and Seth MacFarlane has pretty much proven that he can't be funny without media reference or sexual or racial content.

 

If MLP doesn't completely change it's face over the next five years, I'll be absolutely stunned. But, at the same time, I'll be happy. It'll prove that Hasbro can keep a show running while still sticking to what it's known for. I'm looking forward to these next years, for the better or for the worse.

I have heard about this. So it's possible that there is up to 5 more seasons. Here's what I think:

 

"Even after the show ends, I will do my very hardest to help keep it going. I believe maybe after 5 years (I will be graduating from college in 2019) it will keep going and will be a long lasting show like SpongeBob or Family Guy except not have it turned bad. Even if the show ends I believe art will continue, fanfics will be written, music will be played, and animations will keep going. I also think after FiM ends, people will start to make Animation Series on their own and hopefully at this point PonyTube will be up and running (I made a post about this a week ago or so). The Fandom will continue to be strong, the Con's will keep going, and my love for MLP will be carried on Forever. I am a #Brony4Life. I have an EQG YouTube series that I'm trying to startup being worked on. I believe the fandom will even be stronger beyond 5 years from now. I will always be apart of this fandom and I hope you all follow so that we keep the fandom strong for a long time to come."
