I could probably get something going for you. I archive about 90% or more of my work. I'm extremely picky about what I decide to use, but I'd be fine with passing it along to someone else that can make use of it.

@@shadowbass,

Yo, I've got about 15 years of music experience; but I don't have FL studio. I can help you formulate patterns and different stuff though. Send me a PM for more details.

@synthis

im not really asking for something to start with, im asking how to get good at it (you could say)

i would like to use the quote "give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime"

if you understand then what i mean then that should explain it all

@applejared

i know it might be easy bu ti struggle with it (i dont know why) and im good (you could say) at finding decent patterns but i lack when you have to (or should) change the pattern to not have the song repetitive, but keep the rhythm the same (like when a "bass drop" or any drop comes, the patterns change and make the song better)

also thank you guys for responding :3 you all deserve a gif (not made by me because i suck at art so badly)

The best advice I can give is to try it analog. Some of the best stuff I make is from riffs I make on the guitar. Messing around with the riff after I made it is where I get most of the chorus ideas from. Even if you don't have an instrument to work with, just try changing a few notes here and there. You'd be surprised how much different something can sound from a one note change in the pattern.

If that doesn't work with single note oriented patterns, try working with chords, or a double melody. You could also add a lead to a rhythm pattern. These are just some of the ideas I use when I write. Hope it helps.

Watch lots of youtube tutorials, and look at the work that others have done. Trust me, this is the quickest way to learn. There is no "official" way to make a good melody, you just have to have the ear, and eventually you will get better and better.

Just take my work for example. You can find it at www.soundcloud.com/mogul-dash, and take a look at my VERY first song. Then compare it to my most recent posts. You will notice that over the years my melodies greatly improve, along with my mixing and mastering. Just give it time, and observe others.

Exactly man. I started with FL Studio and didn't know what I was doing. After working with that I moved on to Ableton and bombarded youtube and google looking for tutorials trying to soak in every piece of info I could find. There is a youtube channel called Dubspot that goes into in depth breakdowns on different DAWs. I learned a ton from that so I'll link them to you and see if this can solve some of your issues http://www.youtube.com/user/DubSpot Hope this helps dude and good luck.

@@PlanetStorm,

Too shy? Come on! It's not like I'm gonna bash you or anything. All I'm gonna do is critique and offer help in areas you struggle with.

Nothing against MLP forums but I'd recommend looking into joining http://mylittleremix.com/ if you need help and advice on how to improve your music.  It's been essentially a music school that's been the main forum for brony musicians since it was formed several years ago. As stated watching youtube videos for music production will help a lot as will just reading the manuals of the daw's and synths you use so you understand them more. Making music is very hard but that's no reasoin not to get involved. Brony music is still amateur music and doesn't have to be made to impress people. If you enjoy making it, then do so. If it causes stress and depression , then don't.  Baby steps.

I have made brony music since 2011. I like all kinds of music and genres. I'm sure you'll like some of it..

Here's My YouTube..I have several albums on Bandcamp and Pony.FM.

Check out the 20+ Musician project Maressey which I am running.

I've always loved FL Studio, and from what I've learned throughout my experience, you're doing a great job! Keep doing what you're doing! With making music with programs like FL Studio, most if it is always trial and error, so keep in mind to 'Try, Try Again' and don't be afraid to recycle ideas.

I am always looking for opportunities to show the world what I'm capable of.
