How about this car tire? That's rubber, folks. Ponies don't have rubber tires, only wooden wheels.] bscap0081.jpg SolarFox's point is good. But I don't think your historical argument works. While horses may have been bred by humans, the ponies in this show are not the same thing. Spanish horse breeders couldn't have existed if Spain doesn't exiat. It's a different world entirely. What if the ponies in Equestria actually didn't evolve from horses... what if they actually evolved from humans? O__o Aren't some over thinking it a bit? I always figured it is the way it is because it’s a fictional universe in a cartoon, created by humans in a real universe aka this one, hence the odd human inventions popping up, like tea cups, which looks better than a troff for the record and recognizable to people. Ohnhai 69 February 24, 2014 Share February 24, 2014 (edited) Equestria is it's own world with its own distinct evolution of life. That Twi and all her pals resemble RL Earth ponies is an example of convergent evolution and should not be used to assert that they are the same, or indeed have a similar history. The Tasmanian Wolf was a marsupial yet on that isolated continent evolved into the same role as canines elsewhere, to the point where, at first glance, you would confuse the two. EQ Ponies don't need, and are unlikely to have the same evolution history as their RL counterparts, so any argument posited on an assumption of a link is on desperately unsound ground Therefore the argument that humans must have existed in Equestria because RL ponies owe a lot of their current form to selective breeding by humans is faulty as there is no conclusive evidence that EQponies have any biological link with RLponies. (Their morphological diferences, wings, horns, binocular vision, intelligence, ability to use tools with hooves!! , speech all seem to suggest that there is no link at all) Edited February 24, 2014 by Ohnhai
MistyStarBright 9 February 24, 2014 Share February 24, 2014 Well maybe that was just a mess up when Ashleigh Ball was reading the script and no one noticed.Or maybe the scriptwriter got it wrong. Also, in one episode, Rarity said "on the other hand" and in another didn't know what ponies where supposed to wallow in. She also didn't know that ponies don't usually wear clothes. SECRETLY A HUMAN?

Maybe humans did once exist in Equestria, and MLP takes place long after their existence so any evidence that humans were ever there is gone, buried under thousands-no, millions-of years of weathering and erosion. And maybe the portal that Twilight passed through in EqG was actually a portal to the past. 2 I refuse to let go until you're impressed. I refuse to let go until I'm depressed. Well maybe: But couldn't it be that the characters in MLP FIM and all the MLP generations, as well as the toys that started it, are pastel coloured and unlike real ponies anyway, so they kept it simple and didn't try to fix what isn’t broken and stuck with that concept for human equivalents? Tons of kids and adult animations have characters with the skin colours most people have in the real world: such as Ben 10, how many people wrote or write complaint letters because the Ben 10 character is white? or that Karl from the Simpsons is black? (sorry for going off topic btw people) Good point there, but I think it's still true. But here's an example; okay, so, Twilight is a nerd, she does magic, is very well educated and has pointy eyes. If she were Asain people would flip it. If she was white, people would flip it for the nerd part. Also, lots of bronies would flip it if anypony was any race, because it wouldn't match their headcannon, they'd get upset that Hasbro gave them a race, etc. So it would be best to just leave it. SharpWit 2,669 February 26, 2014 Share February 26, 2014 You couldn't fit a full sized horse down a mine could you! well you could if you dug a bigger hole. that's just the result of laziness. problem solving. I think that at one point Equestria had more advanced technology, but due to something like a war, or disease, or famine, or all three, population went down and much of the technology was lost, banned, or is used currently in moderation. Because of the ponies natural/magical abilities being able to be used for everyday needs, the old technology wasn't seen as something required, so it was given up. But every once in a while some of this old technology springs forth again such as flim and flam's locomotive whatever, and vinyl's equipment. Possibly the war was with the griffons, and they lost. as a means to pay for war debts they conducted trade with Equestria, which is why we see things like cups with handles, although applejacks mugs can fit pony hooves, so who knows. this is all head canon. As for their ever being humans. no. sure ponies in our world may have been bred for spanish mines, but for MLP, I don't that works, especially with all of the history. Maybe those griffons made more than just cups since they don't have magical abilities we know of other than standing on clouds The problem with that theory is from "suited for success." Fluttershy clearly asks for FRENCH haute couture. French= from France. So if there is a France in Equestria, there being a Spain is not out of the realm of possibilitiy. True, but Gustav the griffon was french, and Equestria is based off of North America. On the official map we see an arrow pointing towards the griffons, but that is also in the same direction as europe. so does that mean that griffons are really european, and instead of them colonizing the new world. both ponies and other large mammals, more specifically bison, crossed what would be the considered the land bridge from asia to north america, during the ice age/windegos fucking with everyone because they're like that? I'm surprised that no one has brought up Iron Will yet. Minotaur. half man half bull
