A man saves risks his life saving a mayor's family. The mayor offers a reward for doing this.

 

We all hear stories about people who turn down such rewards because they are virtuous. If there were a story of a man who saved these lives, but also eagerly accepted the reward, should that man be respected or chastised?

 

Not everyone is the textbook definition of a hero, some people will gladly accept a reward. This is a question I've been pondering as of late.
