When it gets too rediculous like: Bonbon is a destroyer of worlds who defeated a computer and set ponies free, then I cringe. But a DJ liking dubstep is easily plausable. While I might not agree with many of the "set personalities" the fandom assigns to characters who have no real role in the show, none are hardly cringe-worthy to me. The whole Lyra "human" thing is a good example. I dont care for it, but I dont cringe every time I see a picture of her with some "I <3 Humans" thing. But at least the fans are stemming that (and most fan made assumptions) from something like a weird sitting position. Same for Scratch. I guess it's okay to believe that one character does stuff that may not be cannon, I personally don't have any headcannons, but in the case you mentioned maybe it'd be better to say: "I THINK Vinyl likes dubstep" or something like that.
