movies/tv Favorite Cartoon Episodes

All right you might have seen my thread of the worst episodes of good cartoons found here. So now, lets talk about the best episodes of cartoons. Here's mine.

Mlp- Pinkie Pride- Not much to say that hasn't already been said especially in my blog here where I already gushed over the episode. I will say that it has gone up to being my favorite episode in the whole show.

Courage the Cowardly Dog- The Mask- This episode deals with domestic abuse in the best way possible. This cartoon always seemed to be the best at tackling serious subjects along with Hey Arnold and this episode really shows. Everything was presented realistically and you really do get invested in the story.

Ed Edd n Eddy- One+One=Ed- This episode is defiantly weird for this show but in a good way. The Eds literally try to learn everything to the point where they are picking apart the logic in their own show from taking off outlines to taking off mouths to eating part of the sun. Everything is really funny and it's one of those episodes you want to watch over and over.

Powerpuff Girls- best rainy day adventure ever- There is not much conflict to the episode, it's just 11 minutes of fun. It really reminds you of when you were a kid stuck in a rainstorm. They also play a lot of humor with it. It's got both relatability and humor to make it great.

Fairly Oddparents- Pipe Down- This one people probably don't care about. But when I was re watching this show, I re watched this one and found it hilarious. Basically, Timmy wishes the whole world was silent right as a meteor is about to hit. The episode feels like a silent cartoon. All jokes hit perfectly and it's great to see the characters reactions to being silent.

Spongebob- Band Geeks- All right I like how everyone in town is working together and actually show sympathy for Squidward unlike in later episodes. Also the song at the end makes this episode worth it.

All right discuss away!

Giving a shoutout to Haunted of Teen Titans fame.

popgoes-the-light.gif

I really love the trope Sanity Slippage, okay? It's a wonderful source of tragedy and character exploration. Placed in probably the least intriguing season of the show, Haunted was the first episode I saw, and man did it sell me on the character of Robin!

Robin begins the episode staying up late at night, still hunting for clues that the team's longtime adversary Slade might still be alive. Cyborg tells him to go get some rest, but he can't. Robin can't handle the thought of not being ready, of not being prepared for the lone villain who can truly outthink him. Robin has a heavy sense of responsibility to his team that instantly endeared me. He continues to examine the mask Slade left behind, coughing he breathes in dust from the box.

We have a fairly typical battle sequence to set up Robin finding himself in the dark forest alone... other than the fact that Slade's there. And thus begins our plotline. Slade is the master at manipulation. The fact that nobody else can see Slade, and that he evades Robin's every attack... it's all part of the plan.

Starfire gently greets Robin upon discovering him in the forest, to which he responds by yanking at her arm and questioning why she didn't go after Slade. Which is understandable from Robin's perspective, as their greatest enemy just lost their trail and Starfire did zilch about the thing.

At first, the question is about who is seeing the truth, but as the episode progresses, Robin's condition gets worse. He's heavily bruised from the battles with Slade/throwing himself at the ground and slashing at the air. In a scene that still sits with me to this day, his terrified friends find him. There is no Slade, they tell him. You're not fighting anyone. All of them are deeply concerned, as they should be; Robin's costume is completely torn up by now, and green lighting sets the mood.

By the end of the episode, Robin literally almost ends up killing himself from the fighting; after viciously attacking for the last 18 minutes or so, he mutters weakly to Slade while curled up on the floor in his injuries "Stop". This is a character who is determined in the extreme, who never ever stops; that sparked the premise of this. And here he is now; begging and defeated and on the brink of death.

Fun times!

The plot is resolved in an extremely heartwarming way, but damn that was really dark okay. It is rare that individual episodes of a series can stand so vividly in my imagination without watching them for a long time, but Haunted did just that. Maybe it was not the most indicative of the series' tone, maybe it was really spoilery for a first episode to pick, but I don't care, because it was quality.

All right time for more.

South Park- This one is hard to pick since they're multiple episodes that are really good but my favorites are Good Times with Weapons, It hits the fan, Cartoon Wars, Make Love not Warcraft, and Free Willzyx.

Family Guy- Back to the Pilot- I normally don't find this show that funny, but this episode was hilarious. It was basically making fun of the pilot episode and making fun of their own show in a humorus way. They even made fun of their cutaways. Honrable mentions got to PTV and Road to Road Island.

Pokemon- Island of the Giant Pokemon- ThePokemon get separated and they get subtitles to understand what they're saying. I sure wish they did this again then maybe the Pikachu shorts would be more tolerable.

MLP: FiM (Duh!) - "Magical Mystery Cure" (Parts 1 - 3)

Is it wrong that my favorite episode is the longest episode? ^^

Seriously, it's almost completely about Twilight Sparkle, I love it! ^^

Sonic X - "A New Start"

Totally a hard episode to forget, not only have the best SonAmy moment in the series, but Sonic starts out as Super Sonic when he first appears, you can't get better than that! ^^

I'll probably think of more as the day goes by. ^^
