movies/tv Which type of animation media has more artistic ability in your opinion?

First off, I have no idea where this thread should actually be seeing as I'm still new to the community, so be kind as I figure things out.

 

Okay, I know we all have our own views on what types of animation media that we can either like over the other, both, or really don't care. I know a lot of ponies also tend to take debates rather too far, but I'm just starting this thread to see who likes what on an individual basis and maybe discuss the differences of how one could allow for more or less animation ability.

 

I personally prefer source film maker because if a 3D animator with it is good enough with it, he or she can make some really outstanding animations and videos and using for example being Ferexes and Argodaemon from youtube. What's everypony elses thoughts?

I'm not particularly picky on how something is animated as long as it's animated well.

 

Note: Half the shows on Adult Swim that looks like a thirteen year old animated them where everything moves like cardboard on top of backgrounds is not being animated well.

This. For me, choice of medium is in and of itself an artistic choice, and with any manner of animation you can make something cool. Just look at Homestuck. Basic Flash, but executed so well thanks to the story behind it.

They are way more forms of animation media than those two you know...

Anyway, yeah it depends I guess. I think CG can potentially look the best though, but 2D animation can be more artistic at times to me.

Both of those forms of animation media are very artistic, along with CGI and 2D animation. I would include 3D too, but it has been used a lot more than usual where you think it has lost its artistic quality though I digress.

I echo the first two responses.

It depends on how the medium is used. A good, creative Flash beats a plain SFM, and a good, creative SFM beats a plain Flash.  :lol:Though, I suspect flash may be a little easier to work with to be honest; depends on the result regardless though.
