In regards to the question, if the changelings ARE to come back and remain interesting, seeing other changelings with some prominence and diverse personalities is a necessity. We all love Megatron, but he's not the only reason we love the Decepticons, is he? We love Starscream, Shockwave, SOUNDWAVE! We need those kind of changelings to compliment Chrysalis.

In the series itself, no; I sort of hesitant about making drastic changes, of course, because they could affect the whole show's overall quality.

 

In ACW, that'd also be a negative, as well, given there was no real place for another - named - changeling. Of course, if the episode was structured differently to where it could fit, I'd be all for another named changeling, preferably an admiral, general, or just a high-ranking member in the Changeling army.

 

For a fanfic, a rebel Changeling in QC's army, rebelling against the hive mind would be 10/10, pretty great

As an idea, well, I think it's awesome.

I love exploring some of the lesser mentioned parts and deepening the universe as a whole.

...However, I don't really see that happening in the cannon universe; from what I gather, the changelings were largely an evil force, bent on consumption/destruction. Heck, the drones weren't even given a role that showed they were affinitive towards speaking as ponies do (understanding, yeah, but not carrying it out), so they may naturally take a different route; if we want to get into actual depths of how their society is able to work, there may be a hive-mind or non-spoken-language bit when they're acting as true changlings rather than ponies. Or, they could be extremely simplistic. Regardless I thinks it's possible a named changeling may not even translate without it being an assumed identity. Maybe their 'names' are their scents? Or their subtle differences in exoskeleton/genetic material? Or some quirk/signature in their magic pool? Chrysallis could be an aberration of normal limitations/abilities due to her high power status or unique position among the hive. Being a queen, and one of the few to need a higher intelligence and independent identity, she could have one that translates into pony culture as needed.

...But yeah, my original point.

I don't see them able to flip changelings into a sympathetic role easily when they were essentially used as an evil force bent on conquest and using/practically-consuming ponies in either a body or mind sort of way.

I think the baton gets thrown to fanfiction writers/artists to re-imagine things a little bit, and justify their actions in a way that goes beyond the more-than-PG morality of sometimes you have to fight and conquer (and kill?) to survive.

I'd like to know how chyrsallis became the changing queen.

 

Is she the Alicorn of the Hearts and Hooves day story?

 

Or was she born that way from another queen, much like ants and bees and such? That option alone asks the question are there multiple hives each with their own queens?
