movies/tv Why are people obsessed with Frozen?

I'm very obviously at the end of the conversation here, but I must ask... This question from a Brony? LOL!!! XD

I think it's a mistake to call Frozen a movie, because it's more of a musical... in fact, when Disney finishes the theatrical production of Frozen, that'll probably be a bazillion times better than the animated film. It's all about the music (I mean, does adult Elsa get more than 10 non-singing lines?).

I think Disney needs to make more of these spectacular animated musicals!

I loved the movie myself, and I can kind of see why it has such a huge following.

It'll die down eventually. I think everybody is just excited about a movie they enjoy.

I'm one of the "haven't seen it" people. But I've been seeing it everywhere.

I never keep up with this stuff (there's usually like a five year delay between when something becomes popular and when I finally, maybe check it out), so I'm always being deluged by stuff I've never heard of. It's annoying, but it's the price one pays for not giving enough of a shit to stay current.

How does one pay a price if not giving a deuce to stay current? And how you can be annoyed, if that's the case?

I haven't seen it either, but I plan to.. maybe next week..

Nothing will ever beat The Little Mermaid for me, so nobody shouldn't count on me becoming obsessed with it.

Am I the only person in this WORLD who didn't love it?

I mean- Yeah, the animation was incredible, the plot was well thought-out, and I liked the characters.

But the movie felt short and the story was kind of... basic. I can't think of any better word for that. For me, it was kind of predictable. I think I liked Lion King better.

This is all an OPINION.

I still have not yet to see Frozen, as the high-profile marketing of the Snowman (who takes the role of the obligatory children's movie goof-ball character - something that has drawn me away from a lot of Disney movies) makes me fear how much of a role this "Jar-Jar Character" plays in the movie. I also am naturally cautious of anything that gets a lot of hype - because it's usually getting too much hype. Same reason why I've been put off from yet seeing "The Lorax" even though I do really want to see it. Because I haven't yet seen Frozen, I'm not going to pass any judgement on it.

Am I the only person in this WORLD who didn't love it?

Have you read my first post in this thread? x)

I watched Frozen (pretty much against my own free will) with 4 of my friends who've watched it 50 times before and have insisted it was God's gift to Earth. I sat down, trying to forget how much the movie has been ruined for me by how much of the internet was saturated with it, trying WITH ALL MY HEART to give it a fair chance...But the entire movie was godawful; cliched, cringeworthy at parts, and the characters (if you really think about it) are complete carbon copies of pretty much anything ever made (the non-ice power sister and the love interest...Lea and Han Solo, anyone?). I did not smile, not. Even. Once. And that is this movie's greatest sin.

That unplanned pregnancy is going to need quite the clean-up. But it was either that or Despicable Me 2 for the Oscars, and DM2 sucked some heinous a$$.

I really am not trolling or anything.

I, as a movie lover, was insulted by the level it sometimes stooped for a cheap laugh or D'aww-worthy scene.

GG, can't wait for the next Disney movie to come out in another 2 years and for a fandom to develop over it.

Oh god, yes.

Not just Disney movies, either.

Like that goddamn sloth from The Crudes or those stupid Minions or the slugs from Flushed Away.

They usually get me to hate the movie without even seeing it. x)

I liked it. It wasn't OMGTHEBESTTHINGEVERMADE and it wasn't terrible. But I enjoyed it. The animation was beautiful, Idina Menzel's singing voice is fantastic as always (I first heard her sing for Wicked, not Frozen,) and I loved that we finally get a nice film about sisterly bonds and how that can be a form of love. The obligatory comedic relief character can take a long walk off a short bridge since he was annoying, but it will never cease to amuse me that he is voiced by one of the main actors for the original broadway production of The Book of Mormon.

It's not my favorite Disney film for music by far and it's not even my favorite animated film, but I can see where it gets the praise. I just wish people would look for the singers' other works outside of Frozen. Menzel did Rent, Wicked, and a bit of Glee.

You posted that 3 times.

Also. Technically,Elsa shouldn't have a horn or wings.

If she had a horn,it would be normal for her to have ice magic. (Which was not the case in the movie.)

If she was an earth pony,it would make more sense for people to freak out.

Okay.. I'm not attacking your opinion, but are you sure you weren't caught off guard with the twist of the story?

The one sketch I have of pony!Elsa she has a sliced off horn with a stump left hidden by her mane, which explains why she wasn't in control of her powers in the beginning but slowly learned how to master it (and later craft ice wings because why the hell not.)

Makes the story a little more grim but I'm attached to unicorn amputee Elsa.

DM2 was a terrible movie. I really didn't like it, but I thought Frozen was good, though I do not AT ALL believe it's worth obsessing over. People literally die for the movie.

I just saw this movie with my husband for the first time yesterday. It's alright; heartwarming and creative. I wouldn't go gaga over it and don't understand why people have been doing so, when there have been many disney movies in the past that people just kind've shrug their shoulders at when they are just as good as Frozen (Princess and the Frog anyone?).

Spoilers!

My favorite part of the movie, the very beginning. The ice scoring was wonderfully animated, rich in history, and historical accuracy. Scandenavia is the best place for storytelling, I tell you!!!!
As far as the rest of the movie is concerned....I didn't like a dog acting reindeer, although he was cute ;) I am not sure how I feel about the emphasis on relationships in the way it was portrayed in this film, because it's made for children. Even if it does have a good message about relationships and how they should NOT be, it's glossed over in a way to where kids will be left confused. We as adults understand, but considering the realtionship aspect affects the climax of the movie, I do not consider this a kid friendly film in terms of moral ambiguitiy that underlines the obvious.

I cannot for the life of me understand how the "Let it Go" song has homosexual ties....I am so confused here....

This film makes me feel....lots of feels....I have a sister....I feels....

I thought it was average for a Disney princess movie. It was the typical Disney Princess movie with an atypical villain. The regular Disney clichés were not avoided and male characters continued to be plot mules who carry the plot while doing really very little. The snowman character of Olaf could have been completely cut and nothing of value would have been lost from the story. He was more annoying than funny and turned out to be precisely the Jar-Jar character I feared he would be.

The villain never exactly makes his goals clear. Yeah, he wants to rule the kingdom, but what does he want to do with it? Does he just want the power to rule out of jealousy for his brothers (boring and clichéd) or does he want to do something more exciting? Maybe raid the treasury and go back home? Maybe start a fake war with Weaseltown as so to absorb it's land and assets? C'mon, Disney through me a bone here. Anything but the jealous little sibling angle.

And there was far too much singing, even for a Disney movie. I felt like I was watching a watered down version of Tangled with too many songs. I could see why Let It Go won the award, though. It was really well written and a really enjoyable song. Have no complaints with that one.

I didn't even watch the movie, even though I had free tickets to see it (please don't kill me.)

Personally, I loved it largely because it turned the ridiculous, Hollywoodized idea of "true love" on its head. "Oh, I've met my true love!" NOPE! He's a jerkwad! "It's so obvious now! My true love it Kristoff! I must have to kiss him to break the spell!" NOPE! The true love that will heal you is your love with your sister!

I liked that too. It was a weird twist of the typically true love thing.
