technology Question About Getting a New Phone.

It's slow and laggy, mainly. I've seen it before, holy shit it lags bad.

I'm not having them problem, maybe it's either age or the phone being bloated with crap?

I've been working on getting everything back on so I all kinds of completed downloads XD

I plan to grab some screen protectors, I tend to use cheapos that i can replace easily because my covers tend to get dirty and scraped up quick,

It's a really old piece of fanart(early 2012, I think) called "Innocence", I've used it on most of my phones because it just looks so damn pretty on a good quality phone screen due to the vibrant(yet soft and cool) colors:

It's till one of my all time favorite pieces of MLP fanart to this day.

What complaints do they make?

That's odd, your link is broken even though it matches up to the one I found. http://limreiart.deviantart.com/art/Innocence-281281931

Thanks for that though.  :squee:

He did say that it's a 16GB phone and the chipset is a bit old, and carriers love to fill their phones with bloatware, so probably.

I'll bet they've got it loaded with crap or it's not fully updated, it's modified, or something. I've noticed no lag when I've played with the S3 my sister has. It's just stock and fully up to date, on Verizon.

Not sure where you're at either Daring, but quite a few international models only have 1gb of RAM when the NA model has 2.

Both my friend and I are from Massachusetts. Maybe he got a bad phone? I dunno. It's not as bad as his old Motorola Atrix 2 though, that thing crashed all the time.

Odd. If I'm crunching the numbers in the "Running Apps" Screen right this one seems to have like 1.5GB(unless it uses 500MB or so for system tasks that don't register or count on the processes screen)

It's also the original Dual-Core CPU instead of the  Quad the later models had.

If you guys want a living hell, get a hold of a Ascend II and try it out, these are it's "amazing" specs:

3.5in screen that's so dim you have to be in a fairly dark area to see it

Like 64MB of RAM

Like 64MB Internal Storage(with like 42MB available, max)

600MHz Single-Core CPU

Android 2.0

The damn thing is a joke that would barely be passable a as a toy for a child.

That very well could be the case, wouldn't the first time I've seen faulty memory/storage/cpu components. And yea, most older Android phones are pretty bad. Back in those days I actually saw the logic in going with an iPhone.

Just like on a PC, some of the memory is reserved strictly for the OS/UI. Turn off as much of the bloatware you can that you won't use, and all will be well.

I don't think US Celluar phones have any bloatware, actually.

Then that's awesome. Two things I hate about Verizon are their prices and extreme amount of bloatware. But I really have no other choice since I'm on a family plan with my grandparents.

Yeah, I've had three droids from them(including the shitty one mentioned above) and none of them really had any bloatware or extra crap.

Thankfully you can remove the bloatware if you have a Windows Phone. Making it unremovable on Android, iOS and feature phones is kinda bullshit imo.

It really is. I wish Google would take control and make it so companies can't lock their apps down. Fine, let them install them but they have to be removable without root.

I'd love to have a Nokia Windows phone, but I don't like any of Verizon's offerings. I frikkin LOVE my Zune, even had an app on my iPhone when I had one that cloned the Zune UI for a music app. And I think the Windows Phone UI is smart.

I have a Nokia Lumia Icon and it's easily the best Windows Phone on Verizon. A bit pricey, but well worth the money. Not sure if you're too enthusiastic about it because of the non-expandable storage, but I've been dealing with the 32GB internal just fine. It's fast, call quality is pretty damn good and it actually fits into my hand really well. Oh, and that camera. Wow. It's better than some DSLRs I've seen.

Yea, I tend to skip over phones without an sd slot. Main reason I went Note 2 over Droid DNA, then I just upgraded to the Note 3 without looking at anything else since I found the spen most helpful.

There is gonna be the Samsung Ativ SE soon, which has half the internal storage (only 16GB) but a microSD card slot and comparable specs to the Lumia Icon but with an IR blaster as well.

If you want to continue talking about this, shoot me a PM, it's getting kinda off-topic lol

heh Just a little bit. I won't be looking for a new phone anytime soon though, so I guess we could return the topic to it's rightful owner. lol

I generally follow the rule of only using the internal storage for apps and using a SD Card(I have a 16GB right now) for everything else.

That's how I do things. Apps on internal, and movies, music, pics, etc on external. Makes live so much easier IMO since it keeps the fast, built-in, default storage for the apps.

It also speeds up data transfer because you can just swap out a card.
