For me, the most enjoyable thing as a whole about season 4 has been the MASSIVE step up in animation/visual quality.

Someone needs to at least put together a compilation of all the scenes with epic lighting effects.

Definitely. I think they have tried to make it the best animation possible since that there is an expanded, all-age audience than there was when they first started the show. I mean, young children, the initially intended audience, don't care about that stuff, but with lots of adults watching, the animators really want to make it look nice. From the start, though, the animation was superb. Another reason why this show ROCKS!

Okay, first they shortened season 3 of My Little Pony is 13-ish episodes so they had time to create season 1 of Littlest Pet Shop, and now they are canceling episode air times of My Little Pony to make way for a Littlest Pet Shop marathon?

A while ago, I must admit, I was a younger girl and so I did buy Littlest Pet Shop figurines, but now, the toys and show are... Eww. I don't like what they did to one of my childhood toys, and the show is horrible in my opinion. It's not bad, but it's not the greatest show on Earth. Now, that same show that I despise is interfering with my favorite show on telivision.

It's really bothering me...

A while ago, I must admit, I was a younger girl and so I did buy Littlest Pet Shop figurines, but now, the toys and show are... Eww. I don't like what they did to one of my childhood toys, and the show is horrible in my opinion. It's not bad, but it's not the greatest show on Earth. Now, that same show that I despise is interfering with my favorite show on telivision.

It's really bothering me...

The reason why Season 3 was 13 episodes because the average show runs for 65 unless it is hugely successful and Hasbro still wasn't sure whether MLP would do well.  Ratings and merch sales probably convinced them that it could do a lot better so the next season they ordered was a full 26 episode one.  LPS has nothing to do with MLP beyond sharing voice actors and production crew; Tabitha St. Germain alone is involved in a metric feather-ton of projects so it's not like any sacrifices had to be made.

 

IIRC, MLP has had its fair share of marathons too; the Royal Wedding and Crystal Empire arcs probably took up the whole of the Hub's saturday morning program block.  I don't really remember.

RD: So then what about you?
Fleetfloot: Any Pegasus on the Equestria Games Cloudsdale team are exempt from taking the test.
Spitfire: I fought spit, hoof, and wing for that clause.
RD: I could have been exempt?
Fleetfloot: That's why we were trying to recruit you.
RD: Twilight! *Punches a cloud.*

...I'm not gonna let this spoil my enjoyment of the episode, but I just realized something.
The thing we learned about her in this episode (subconsciously making note of everything around her during flight) is a big retcon.

In the first scene of Griffon The Brush Off, she slams right into a huge mountain while trying to ditch Pinkie.
Where were the observational skills she used to detect the helicopter? XD

I know that i'm overthinking it, and that they weren't planning too far ahead in the show's early days,
AND that it's a kids show filled with moments purely included for comedy.
It's just that when i notice something like this, it bugs me enough to jot it down. Anyone else here know the feeling?

My Little Pony. Using a variety of musical stylings to get their point across. Pinkie Pie rapping nearly had me laughing out loud because it was so out of the blue... and yet oddly fitting. Just wait. Give them a few episodes and we might see Twilight rocking some dubstep.

 

We also learned that if Applejack needs to study, she fresh out of luck. Though how in hoof Rarity can study is beyond me. Learning through fashion?! I know clothes are your thing but no one does that. I was more confused by that method than Dash was by Fluttershy's interpretive play.

 

Ending was a little more heavy handed than I would've liked. Fluttershy and Rarity acting out the banishment? Good. Pinkie Pie pretending to be General Fairy Fly(?) with obvious name drop? A little much but I can deal. Random ponies flying about with nothing but a name drop? Ok, now that's just silly.

 

...What? Look, just because they spent the whole time teaching Rainbow Dash doesn't mean I got all the details. I more subscribe to Twilight's style: lectures and especially reading (no highlighting though). Throwing names at a wall and seeing if they stick ain't really my style.

My thoughts on the episode are probably similar to everyone else's, ones who have already seen it or even those only having read the synopsis-

The whole idea of slapping a, dare I say, school nerd and a laid back easy goer into the same study room is not too good an idea.

Which makes it an actually interesting episode, to know the difficulty of Rainbow and Twilight getting along with each other, it's sure to get some laughs, including laughs from me.

My god, MLP doesn't own the whole channel, guys. There's other shows on the hub, and think about all the marathons MLP has gotten while other shows (like dan vs) got placed in awkward time slots. Edited April 19, 2014 by crazitaco
