However, she's more offensive in nature, so she's way more likely to toss fireballs. And the fact that she isn't afraid of Discord is decent proof that she feels with her new power, she can defeat him. She probably thought he was still in stone. Tirek owned his ass with telekinesis And that I believe was most likely due to the sudden betrayal. He could've escaped, but was too shocked to do it. Seriously though, in her demon form, Sunset wouldn't stand a chance against Discord. Maybe she could do something to him in her angel form, as she had the power of the elements of harmony. He's over a thousand years old, has had experience tousling with Alicorn royalty and is regarded as a significant threat by all of Equestria. He managed to corrupt the kingdom, turning it into a "chaos capital" and had to be put down by the the sisters, wielding the power of the Elements of Harmony. Then he broke free and did it all over again. Sunset stole a single one of those elements and used it to brainwash a group of highschool students, hoping to use them as a slave army to conquer Equestria. How exactly she thought this was going to work is anyone's guess. But, in the end, she was defeated by a group of highschool girls and had to fix all the stuff she demolished. So, even though Discord and Sunset Shimmer have the same weakness to the Elements of Harmony, their individual levels of power and experience are divided by a vast margin. The one reason Celestia and the Mane 6 defeated him was because he was so supremely confident in his omnipotence he let his guard down. Tirek stole his magic, yes, but I doubt he was actually capable of using it to its full potential. Sunset, meanwhile, had the power of the crown and nothing more.
