Let's get the Coop on FiM!

As some of you may know I absolutely love Alice Cooper, and I've had this thought before "Wouldn't it be great if Alice played as a guest character on MLP?!". But it hasn't gone away and it still seems like good idea. So I'm making this thread to see if anyone is interested in trying to get Alice as a character on the show for at least one episode. Some of you may object but here me out:

1. Alice Cooper can write songs that are both funny and family friendly: The Song that didn't rhyme, Department of Youth (mostly family friendly ), and Schools Out.

2. Alice would be good as either a good intentioned but misunderstood character, a funny character, or as a Villain (although that would be too obvious to me ).

3. Alice has proven via his songs and albums that he understands what makes a good story and character; therefore he could actually contribute to the episodes plot he would be in.

4. In real life Alice is a kind hearted, funny, family man that would be undoubtedly find the prospect of helping with a show that teaches good morals to kids; he would also probably get a kick out off it :muffins: .

5. If you doubt that the Coop can do a kids show, I present exhibit A:

http://youtu.be/VbLG7KvzmmY

So if your on board obviously we need to do two things A ) get The Coop on board and B ) get DHX on-board.

Which means we will need lots of people tweeting sending emails asking about and/or suggesting this of course. I think if someone sent Alice a pony OC they made of him he would re-tweet it easily if he liked it ( I've seen him re-tweet similar stuff, like an Alice teddy bear for example ), which would probably help get some attention for it. In fact sending fan-work of an "Alice Cooper" Pony ( one that is cute and funny, a bat pony type thing for example ) via tweet, facebook, and email may be the best way to start out.

Anypony other than myself think this would be a good idea and want to help? I know it's unlikely but I would like to know I at least gave it my best try than and failed than have not tried at all. :)

Though I love Alice Cooper, I dunno if he'd like a pony-him. x)

It would be great to have him on the show. But is it his style?

I mean...I could try, we all could, like a mass-ponificaton...

A forum-wide project.

post-25260-0-36326000-1398493923_thumb.jpg He posted that on his facebook page for Easter and I think he used to sell a Teddy Bear with his trademark makeup design on his sites store. I don't think he'd object to someone ponifying him, especially if it was well done and witty. ;)

Cooper's a pretty cool guy from all accounts I've heard, so it may just be possible. Been a fan of his for years, and I remember the Muppet Show he was on fondly. Who knows?

It's great, to see some support for this so soon; and here is hoping to see more soon.

Anyway, any suggestions as to how to approach this would certainly be welcome. I all ready listed some possible methods of approach during my initial post, so at the moment:

1. Could anyone do or know someone that would be will to do a fun Pony Alice OC to send to him? He is the type of guy that if he finds some fan work interesting and fun he will re-tweet it or re-post it, it seems.

2. A good # thing for twitter might be nice, so if anyone has any ideas please share.

Do we want to force him to become a Brony or let him come to us though. Bombarding him with requests might just piss him off. Subtle things like "Mr Cooper, i drew you as a pony from MLP:FIM. What do you think?" If he likes it then slowly encourage the behavior more and more. If he doesnt, let it go.

It could make a really good episode on not judging a book by it's cover. Terrifying looking pony who's actually a big softie at heart. (We had that with Zecora, but it's the kind of lesson which ought to be refreshed a lot.)

I think he'd be totally on board with it, as well. He loves this kind of stuff, and a guest appearance on a quality children's show is right up his alley.

This would be quite a rad idea if we could pry him off his daily 18 holes of golf. Maybe we could get him in for a Halloween/ Night Mare Night special involving Princess Luna. Perhaps they could perform a duet of "Welcome to my nightmare."

While it's not a bad idea to message Cooper directly, the better idea would be to send the idea to DHX or Hasbro and have them make the request, much like how they got John DeLancie to play Discord. Unfortunately it probably wont be during season 5, as Cooper is doing a co headlining tour with Motley Crue, w/ festival dates during the summer and arena dates during the autumn.

I don't think the Coop will become a Brony ( although if he does get on the show, just for fun he might call himself a brony, that wouldn't surprise me  ), I just want him on the show to do a cameo, although I wouldn't be against him becoming a recurring minor character or villain. The reasons he might do it versus others are as follows:

1. He is just a fun guy and doesn't mind laughing at himself; so even if he didn't get on the show if someone drew him as a pony in a fun and witty way, he'd show it off online on Twitter I'm sure ( I'd take that as a minor victory actually even if he decided against trying to get on the show ). And he might just decide, "I've been a lot of things over the years but not a pony yet, sounds like fun" and give Hasbro a call.

2. He is a good family guy and if he finds out about a show that is both entertaining and teaches good morals to kids ( especially this part, he is quite the moralist ); if he thinks he could contribute in some way, he'd likely do it for that reason alone. :)

It's more of a campaign saying, "Hey Alice, there is this great show teaching good morals to kids and is fun as Christmas; we remember you back on the Muppets, why not hang out with some candy colored equines for 22 minutes?"

Although to get Hasbro on board we may have to form a picket line or call in a favor from the Mafia :derp: .

That's actually along the lines of what I was thinking for a plot maybe, considering that's kinda the Coop's career as an artist in a nutshell :P . Maybe his OC should be a batpony?

The episode must be titled "Heavy metal friendship on the crazy train express"

And that must be the theme for the episode, but sung by the person who did the normal FiM theme.

Speaking as a lover of lore and a hoarder of head canons, if it can canonise the Bat Ponies as a distinct race within the show, then YES PLEASE, someone make this happen!

Bleh, no bat ponies.

Coop will be a good 'ol Earth pony in my drawing.

And he will be panty-droppingly awesome.

I meant that only 1 or 3 people should do it. Not every person bombarding him at once. If he likes the first 3 and welcomes it then slowly open the floodgates.

That's probably the best idea, also it only would take like one retweet before ponifying the Coop became the cool thing among Bronies that like Metal Music, so yeah best to start slow  . Which bring me to my question, could someone do an OC for the Coop? I can't draw my way out of a wet paper back unfortunately. I think a good design might be an Earth Pony with his classic white top hat, make up, and suit maybe... Also the Black Widow hour glass sign might be a good cutie mark. The first one should just be more of a fan work dedicated to the Coop that he would get a kick out of, not a proposed design for the show I should think. :)

Did a request thread here http://mlpforums.com/topic/97383-art-contributions-to-the-lets-get-the-coop-on-fim/ hopefully I can get the attention of an artist, who would draw "Alice Pony". Because if I do it, it will be stick figures basically.

Status updates:

1. I do have one pony who says they would be interested in doing a ponified Coop, will take some time though. But that doesn't mean others can't contribute in this area or do possible OC's ( the coming storm of Ponies and Metal will be magnificent! ), the more the merrier I say.

2. Haven't been that active recently due to personal affairs but things should settle in a week; then I can begin pushing for this again with zeal.

3. From what I can tell, the most likely way to get in touch with someone close to the Coop or the man himself, would be through his twitter account associated with this http://www.nightswithalicecooper.com/ or the contact section of that site itself. His regular twitter account seems to be dedicated to announcing tour dates and the like. Not sure about his facebook page however.

Alright everypony, I know I haven't been campaigning very well lately but... when I discovered that google is showing a number images from my posts from me just being a major Coop fan. I do have some cool Woona dressed in a Cooper outfit requested, and I might just pay for an awesome commission of a ponified Alice soon; but in the meantime post my pretties! Post about Alice! We will use google to campaign for us! So in the meantime and to get the ball rolling...:

My uncle's stepdaughters went to school with his kid, my uncle lives practically down the road from him, and he has had the chance to personally meet him and his wife before, said they are some of the coolest people he's met. I'm a huge Alice Cooper fan, and while I think it would be much cooler than Weird Al, I personally am going to go against the grain in that I don't think it's a good idea.

Sure he could come on and voice a pony, sing a song, and teach a lesson about something... but I first off don't think he fits the target audience. Kids are more likely to know who Weird Al is when Hasbro plasters that he is going to be a guest voice. My Uncle's step kids just thought he was some old guy, and this was several years ago, doubt the younger ones know better. Second, I think fan servicing is taking place enough as it is, bronies don't need to be trying to petition/beg/bother the creators into catering more to their interests and ultimately flood the show with stuff that with stuff that detracts from the original reasons we all started watching the show. It was just fine before the easter eggs, they don't need to be taken over the top.

I understand what you mean and I honestly share your concerns about that being the case. But overall I still think it's a good idea, and actually for some of the same things you and I might view as negatives.

1.

I first off don't think he fits the target audience.

A ) If a show has a guest star once, they will likely do it again. And the only individuals that the "target audience" will recognize, will be pop stars who by and large either are or become horrible role models ( let's think on what Bieber has become ).

B ) So if they are going to do a guest star I would want someone who understands how to act, about storytelling, and knows how to be entertaining. I imagine that's why they picked Weird Al, as some of the target audience might know who he is; but I doubt many 7-10 yr old kids listen to his music.

C ) Kids don't care that much about names and who people are, but rather who does a good job entertaining them. Probably why they picked Al over a young pop star.

2.

A ) There will be more fan service in the future of some sort and Fandoms always beg for stuff, the key is that it is the right kind of things for the right reasons ( more on that in a moment).

B ) A cameo by Alice isn't over the top I think; Larry King did a cameo on Gravity Falls but that didn't hurt the show.

C ) Let's be honest, a show can only go on for so long before the writers can't come up with anything further to do with a set of characters. So reasonably, I think we should hope for just six seasons, a FiM movie, and if we are lucky a spin-off series featuring Celestia and Luna as youths or the CMC a few years down the road. Meaning the writers can't go overboard with fan service as they are on a deadline.

But onto my personal reasons, as well as why this would be, "The right thing to ask for and for the right reasons". Which boils down to two things which leads into my rather idealistic reasoning about this thing. Because of my job at a cinema, I see kids being brought into movies that I wouldn't want someone I despise to watch; because they teach their viewers to view people as a means to an end, to fight evil with greater evil, virtue is just a silly sentiment. In short it chips away at the viewers humanity and for a child who is trying to learn how to act or behave in general... for many, any sense of goodness ( or whatever you want to call it ) was just plucked out before it was allowed to take root.

Also, society at large treats kids like garbage. People say they are doing things, or list things of but I don't see jack being done to help them. And a telling thing about this state of affairs is how little people view things made for kids. I remember in an interview with, I believe it was with Lauren Faust or Amy Keating Rogers, that they tried to approach celebrities to do cameos in the show; but they got shot down immediately. I have to wonder how many didn't want to because it was a "silly kids show".

So to me Alice Cooper and FiM are actually rather similar in message ultimately, they simply differ in methodology. Both effectively say to value those around you, don't fight evil with evil, in fact overcome it with this silly thing called virtue that others scoff at. Alice Cooper is one of the few guys alive I consider a personal hero and inspiration to me; and FiM is a show that reminds me to do better as a human being. And kids should be able to have that type of positivity in their lives.

So let's get the Coop on Fim because:

1. If it takes a silly bunch of fans of a silly kids show, to get an aging rock star on a said show, for some to take pause and think," maybe we should start getting involved in kids lives for the better, or trying to set a good example for them", let's get the Coop on FiM.

2. If a silly episode of a silly show helps someone who watched it as a kid maybe get through a difficult situation, or reminds them to do the right thing; let's get the Coop on FiM.

And if someone reading this thinks I'm being foolish for thinking this way or something; I ask you, are you thinking that because I am indeed being foolish (which is certainly a possibility), or do you not like what I say because I'm right, and this means striving to help others by all of us, and in particular by doing something that some would call us silly for doing?

I actually think this is a great idea even though I don't really know who Alice Cooper is (Im only 13 and I don't watch the muppets...)

But what Im worried about is the little girls who actually DO watch MLP take my 5 year old sister for example, wouldn't his style sort've scare kids like that? I mean if they can find a way to make it cute and cuddly for a pony show I don't mind that at all....

But overall I think I might do some fan art for this..if its alright with you of course, this thread is sort've fairly new and I don't know if someone already beat me to this idea.

Here is examples of my art style just so you know what it looks like

But the fact that I have never done the make up-ish style he has, it will give me some practice as well! So it will give us both a upside to this idea

@, Wow, thanks for the offer sure if you want to give a shot at it by all means. And if your worried about it scaring the kids, don't worry, they could write and draw his character in a way that wouldn't be any scarier than say one of the bat ponies or Nightmare Moon. Plus he does know how to adjust his performance for younger audiences, otherwise he couldn't have been on a show like the Muppets which is geared towards All Ages ( I put up the episode he was in on the first page, and just the first music number he is in gives you an idea of how he can easily be family friendly ). And I can provide some reference pics for you:

The Quintessential Coop look would be this

post-25260-0-80772400-1399519479.jpg

And here you can see how he moves around a bit with his cane

Let me know if you want some more examples and what not ( feel free to send me a PM if you like ).

So as some of you may know, Alice has a nightly radio show, which he reads some of the fan messages he gets on the air. All of the messages do get read by someone close to him, but a select few do get read on the air.

....I sent a message asking if he might do a cameo on a show like MLP ( along with other stuff, like how he has influenced my life personally ), so there is a chance he might read that portion asking about the MLP thing over the next couple nights. The page that provides links to places you can listen to his broadcast is here http://www.nightswithalicecooper.com/on-the-air/listen-now ,he plays a bunch of types of rock music and tells some cool facts and stories, so it's a neat show to listen to anyway. But if I get a reply or something, I'll let ya'll know, as well as everyone else on planet earth  :muffins: , after I regain my mental faculties after temporary loss from excessive fanboy squealing. :derp:
