gaming E3 2014 Prediction Thread

May be a bit early for this but what do you think and hope will happen at E3 this year?

 

Gonna be a big year for Konami between Metal Gear Solid, the end of the Lords of Shadow series and the fact that Suikoden II has been rated for PSN.

 

Some people are saying that this is pretty conveniently timed and that a new Suikoden may be coming. Especially since Konami said they would have a certain amount of games to announce this year and there's still quite a few mystery announcements to go.

 

I'm hoping we get a look at a new Castlevania. Lords of Shadow was only ever meant to be a trilogy so where will they go from here? I highly doubt it'll happen this year but I want the 1999 game.

The next upcoming games that will come out next year or later this year are going to be discussed in some press conferences, or in a showcase. Maybe, more info on the new games like Kingdom Hearts and Call of Duty.

That's a hell of a list there, actually. I dunno about the rest but I doubt we'll see much of KH3 until FFXV is released. That was the original plan, after all. I heard the announcement last year wasn't supposed to happen but it was leaked.

 

I know for sure we are getting some real Sonic Boom info though. A gameplay demo, perhaps.

I have a strong feeling that Halo 2: Anniversary is gonna slip in, along with another teaser of Halo 5.  Alongside that, Kingdom Hearts 3 (although im not too hype on that game anymore b/c Disney have become such greedy theives).

Generally speaking Disney doesn't have a lot to do with the Kingdom Hearts development process. It's all Square Enix.

True.......yet, everytime i see anything involving Disney.....it "disgusts" me. 

 

I forgot to mention, , that one other reason why im not overly hyped about KH3 is b/c the story itself has gotten a little corny and lacks certain abilities, like an online mode, or a custom character creation, like an MMORPG.

Some completely new IP's would be nice. The industry is getting a little stagnant. We need studios who aren't afraid to take a risk and do something new and brave.

I've always thought the story in KH was the best part personally. This'll be the end of the Xehanort saga but they've said they want to continue the franchise so I wonder where they'll go from here.

 

But expecting online and character creation in a game like KH? That's like expecting a beef burger to taste like fish. It doesn't work for the genre and I personally cannot stand games that go the "you make your own character" route. Give me established characters with established personalities any day.

 

I dunno why you'd want features of a completely different genre that would ruin the pacing and balance of the game entirely to be in a game that never has and never will have such features.

 

It's very hard to make a coherent story with a blank slate character that you created that will ultimately either end up silent or have a predefined personality and wouldn't have any reason to be created by the player anyway.

 

And even if you just mean an online multiplayer mode...that's a waste of time and resources. Not every game has any reason to have a multiplayer mode, especially not RPGs. Unless you can weave the multiplayer into the existing game without ruining the design of the main game it's useless. The KH series has had some online and multiplayer features already and all of them were little more than wasted space.

 

And if it wasn't obvious I like the KH series how it is and loathe forcing online into every game in existence. I prefer my games to NOT have any features rely on an online mode of any sort.

-Retro Studios new project, probably Starfox/Metroid/New game

 

-Ubisoft announces Second Prince of Persia reboot, Michael Ancel's new project (Either Beyond Good and Evil 2 or new Rayman), Assassin's Creed 5: Just Give it a Rest Already 

 

-Sony shows Uncharted 4 footage, more 1st party ps4 games, Killzone 5, Ratchet and Clank movie tie-in, LittleBigPlanet 3 etc. Solid games but no super amazing reveals.

 

-Nintendo does decently and tries to win back crowd. No Snoop Dog FPS with free Dewritos so Gaming Journalists hate it anyway

 

-Aside from 2013 success piggybacking EA mess it up somehow.

 

-Microsoft Show Halo 5 footage, 343 studios still don't know how to make games, Kinect is everywhere, Conker's Bad Fur Day 2 is Kinect only

 

-Nintendo will be seen as the failure no matter what they do, Sony get praised as usual, Microsoft get some fanboys back but still kind of a joke.

 

PS @Thunder-Wing KH3 Char customisation would make no sense with any of those as we already have a main character that can't be a blank slate in anyway, Online wouldn't really make sense unless they added like another Tron world with an virtual arena or something. Your suggestions are kinda like looking at Super Mario World and saying it should have Active Time Battling.
