Creepy pony people! - Do you like anthro/human ponies?

I remember when I was in High School I picked up a book on drawing anthro characters. I was always fascinated with drawing- and something about anthro's just drew me in. To be completely honest there was nothing creepy about my fascination, after all we think goblins, demons, elves and all other fantasy creatures are awesome do we not? 

 

It's one thing to delve into art for the beauty, its another if its a more "personal" nature. Either way, neither one really crosses realms with the other unless you yourself go that route. If you don't like anthro's getting jiggy with it, keep you clean filters on.

 

Now as for Equestria girls- I think they made the change quite tastefully. They didn't make the world too human and the characters personalities were almost spot-on. Aside from that, it gives us humans ( ), a few ideas on how to create good costumes for BronyCan and BronyCon. 

I'm sorry, I was not trying to imply that people who liked anthro were creepy. I just think they are kinda creepy. I apologize about the poor communication. Everypony likes what everypony likes.

Don't like it myself, but I'm still gonna watch Equestria Girls in between finishing Season 3 and starting Season 4. Unless someone tells me it's not necessary to the series as a whole.

Which is also categorized depending on the relevancy of such art, not even mentioning the fact that private messaging like every forum has preferences you can establish for your own convenience.

 

Anthro can be found in groups such as Equestria After Dark or Anthro MLP. I'm curious as to what you subscribed to.

Anthro? Not a fan of it honestly. Human versions of ponies though? I'm fine with that. By that I mean just normal humans that are based on the designs of the characters.

I have no hate toward anthro, it can actually be cute depending on the artist. Sometimes they are super creepy, but I never voice that concern, because often the drawing in amazingly better than I could do. Plus it hurts peoples feelings when you call their work creepy.

I find this kind of anthro to be off-putting.

The more humanized-anthros don't bother me at all.

Though of course, the straight-up human versions of them is better

I seem to be the odd-brony-out that actually liked EG...and with EG2 coming up, I thought more would be excited that Vinyl Scratch is being featured more in it (obviously in human-form, but still, VS fans are everywhere and I would have thought they'd be excited!

 

Regardless, you can't beat the original FiM version of the ponies. That's how they were made famous, and is the basis of My Little Pony at any rate!

I have to agree with the Equestria Girls fans that the artists did the human counterparts very tastefully and very cute.  I was actually delighted at the human forms they came up with because they were so spot on!  

 

And if you think about it, if there was no degree of ponies to human that would sort of knock out most of the cosplay costumes for MLP and those can be a lot of fun. 

 

I agree with PE Brony about certain kinds not being attractive to me though. 

 

Being older and new to all of this I googled anthro to see what came up and I agree there is some art that I would not spend 2 seconds on.

for me it really depends on

 

• how it's done
• why it's done
• and how much clothes they are wearing (more the merrier, with the exception of one four panel comic i saw where it was more fitting but it was done in a way it was still G rated)

like if they are some sort of morph of human and pony like they are bipedal but still have hooves, then that's a no.

 

but if it's like cosplay then yeah that totally works

 

EG yeah I guess I'm ok with it. I understand why they had purple skin and stuff instead of black and white because then they would be branded racist no matter what they said or did because people are stupid and are "offended" by it. i.e. they want money.

I admit I was surprised when I saw the crossover with Equestria Girls, but I wouldn't go as far to say 'creepy'. It's not something I care for all that much, as I like the idea of ponies, so to make them humans seems...pointless? I guess, but to each their own.

I tend to avoid anthro, but turning ponies into humans is actually something that I like to draw every now and then because my humans suck and I need practice.

for me, it depends on how well its drawn. yes, to me, they look the best in their normal form, but i like some of the anthro and humanized pieces as well. its funny, cause before mlp, i almost exclusively liked anthro art.

ex. i always thought jenna from balto looked better as an anthro .

I don't like humanization of any non-human characters. But for some reason, I'm okay with the look of Equestria Girls... I guess because their skin is still the same color as the ponies But yeah, ponies lose their appeal when they're humans. One of the delightful things about MLP is that it's about cute talking ponies.

I don't have a problem with humanized ponies, hell I think it's pretty fun to see how some artists would interpret them if they were to translate them as humans...though chances are people will either turn them into generic anime characters or you'll see people trying to hard in interpreting them(anything from race related stuff to some ridiculous designs including but not limited to scanilty clad AJs, Fluttershys seen with a stupid huge breast size, or Rainbow Dashs that might as well be R63)

 

Personally I prefer anthros as I don't think they run into the most of same problems as humanized ponies and they still keep their pony features

I really like humanized ponies for some reason. I haven't found the reason yet. However, I don't really like anthro, and I don't understand why it blends with the humanized pony category when they're so different.
