CosmicHooves 2,705 May 3, 2014 Share May 3, 2014 (edited) We always say we're 20% cooler. What about the other 80%? For me it would be 20% cool, 30% swag, and 50% pure sexiness. What about your other your other 80%? Edited May 3, 2014 by SC00TS

GaleFenrir 281 May 3, 2014 Share May 3, 2014 But, that isn't how the phrase works. It's not saying that the coolness is 20% of the whole. It means the coolness in question is 1.2x the coolness of something else in comparison.
Scootalove 10,692 May 3, 2014 Share May 3, 2014 I don't believe there is an 80% to the 20% cooler phrase, it's just a phrase that is said to describe something that is a little cooler than normal. Credit: Moony © Forum FAQ Forum Rules

User07832407840 177 May 3, 2014 Share May 3, 2014 Technically, "%20 cooler" means "120% of the coolness of something." So you take a fifth of the coolness of something and you add that amount back on to the original. Which is interesting, actually, because it means if something is not very cool to begin with, it won't have much coolness added on to it, just a little bit, but if something is already really cool, then it gets a huge boost in coolness. And "20% cooler" only takes into account coolness, it's independent from the amount of swag, sexiness, etc., unless one of those factors has a relationship to the coolness factor, which I don't think they do. Rainbow Dash was clear in "May the best pet win!" that there is a big difference between radicalness and awesomeness, so the same probably goes for coolness, so they are probably unrelated factors.
Scoots and Dash 208 May 3, 2014 Share May 3, 2014 I believe the phrase is referring to having 100% and then adding 20% on top of that to make it ultra cool. Callisto 1,877 May 4, 2014 Share May 4, 2014 Well, this is it. We've run out of topics. We've dried the well. We've emptied the barrel. It's over. But, to stay on topic, the 20% isn't part of a whole; it's a 20% increase in coolness. But, to answer the question, the breakdown for me would be: 1% evil, 99% hot gas 20% cool 50% unmotivated 25% funny 5% intelligent 1 Y'know, I've been on this site for almost ten years and I've never had a proper signature. Ain't that something?
