Should I be more tolerant of certain sections of the fandom?

I guess you mean the clopping section.

 

I don't clop myself, but i don't rule the possibility out for the future. I have the same respect for cloppers and noncloppers, if people want to clop to characters from the show, who am i to judge them? It's a completely imaginary thing, does not hurt any animals or humans. And maybe you should try to be a little bit more tolerant of it, because clopping will stay part of the fandom.

 

If we shun the cloppers, are we really better than the brony-haters?

You really should, though. There's nothing wrong with being more accepting of people's differences. Of course, if they cause direct damage to you or others, than by all means.

 

What people fail to understand about cloppers, though, is that every fandom has a group that finds the characters attractive. Anti-bronies just use this against us. It wouldn't be any different if cloppers didn't exist; they'd still find reasons to hate us

Being in the same fandom as me does not qualify someone to be my homie.

 

A psychotic serial killer, could be a brony, but that doesn't make him my homie.

 

A guy who is just unlikable in everyway, may be a brony, but is not my homie.

 

People should stick together like that based on the merits of each others character, and while having a common interest may pull them together, doesn't mean that they should stick together just because of that.

Yes, we should all strive to be because we may not agree with certain behaviors or they might not be our cup of tea but that dosen't mean that people that do these things should be demonized or cast aside. With clop it is about what people masturbate to which is something that has very little effect on the people that don't participate in it. Yes it is unfortunate that google's safe search sucks but there are plenty of other sites out there that have effective mature filters like deviantart, derpibooru and fimfiction where people can search for fanworks without seeing that stuff unless they want to and same goes for grimdark.

If you wanna hate on elements of our own fandom because they are different then you are just as bad as the haters who won't bother to listen or understand. I've met some wonderful people in this fandom who are gay and transgender and I wouldn't treat them any differently then any other members of this fandom. They've certainly got a right to feel welcome and at home here.  I've met plenty of wonderful people who love clop and grimdark and that doesn't mean they are any worse as human beings or as fans. Now if that's ALL you talk about in the fandom then you need to rein it in as it makes others uncomfortable if they don't share those same interests. Otherwise just stop hating groups of people who you don't identify with as its divisive and judgemental.

If so, then yes. While I don't personally agree with clop art and such, some people do enjoy it, and that's something I can honestly respect. They're still Bronies, just like us. Love and Tolerate, enjoy the show, we're all the same on the inside. ^^ (\

To paraphrase the message of an episode of South Park ( I believe it was called "Death Camp of Tolerance" ), Tolerance simply means I put up with something.

But to be closer to my actual feelings in regards to tolerating people in general I think are involved in something wrong or immoral or what have you; I will still show such an individual love and kindness, as I would anyone else, and it would behoove me to be even more loving to such a one.

Now I do not do these things to put myself on a pedestal and look down on others, quite the contrary as I'm far worse by my own ethical  standards, so if I boast in anything, I boast in my own weakness. For part of love is doing things for the benefit of others, the band Boston was indeed correct when they said Love is "more than a feeling".

 

And as an observation: Why all the focus on merely "Tolerance"? "Love" is far greater than "tolerance" and in fact includes it, along with a host of other things, such as patience, kindness, and etc. The Beatles said "All you need is Love" in fact. Can't we just say, " I'm gonna Love the crap out of you!"

 

Anyway I hope among all that stuff, something maybe helped answer your question.
