Replaying HeartGold and had something funny happen to me. None of my Pokemon had good Special Defense so against Morty, I was terrified and got my Croconaw(Adenino) pummeled by two Shadow Balls. I sent out my Pidgeotto(Cytomander) to try and stall....and then something amazing happened. I knew his Gengar had Sucker Punch, so I used Roost. After 5 Roosts, he couldn't use Sucker Punch. I ended up stalling him to death since he had no moves that could hurt me while I had Gust on my Pidgeotto. It took forever(he kept on sleeping me with Hypnosis) but I walled someone to death with a Pidgeotto

Asmodeus is a badass.

 

And I try to keep my team evenly leveled, this time, I'm theming my team after Gurren Lagann. 

Croconaw is Adenino=Male for Adiane, the General of Water

Pidgeotto is Cytomander=General of Air

Machop is Thymilph=General of Fire and a Big Gorilla(he's nicknamed Muscle from the trade though)

Kadabra is Anti-Spiral=Massively powerful psychic deity

Sandslash is Guame=General of Earth and a roly poly creature

Magmar is Gurren Lagann=Same color scheme and fire theme

 

I had my team at around level 23 and 24 so at first, most of them got stomped by Gengar. Croconaw was the only one who lasted more than one hit from Shadow Ball. Pidgeotto's ability to stall was the only thing that saved me along with Morty's lack of moves to hit Normal Types

He is! And still ranks as my top scariest villain of my childhood! Redwall was probably my second favourite show back then, the first being this little gem of a cartoon:

Ok... that is officially awesome... xD If you were playing Gen III, Torkoal would be a another great Pokémon for Guame! Viral seems to me like kind of a blonde Gengar!

I named the Rival Viral. Not only for being a rival, but also because their name is an anagram.

 

As for Guame, I personally think he just looks a lot like Sandshrew(when I got him). I was considering Geodude for a bit, but decided that Geodude is more like Genba. Thymilph I considered a Primeape, but dropped the idea for Machoke/Machop.

 

Adenine would be better as Drapion, but Croconaw is watery enough to work. Cytomander would work better as Altaria, but Pidgeotto isn't too bad either. 

 

Registeel would be a better Gurren Lagann, but Magmar definitely looks the part.

 

Random note, my HM slaves also have that theme. Boota for Rattata and Yoko for Bellsprout.

 

As for Asmodeus being the scariest...

Wow! You've put a lot of thought into each member of your team and their names! That is truly awesome! And Viral as your rival? Very clever! xD What about the Spiral King now? Any ideas? Boota I can understand the choice, but why Yoko?

 

Hmm... Slagar was intimidating, and more evil than Cluny in my  opinion (trying to doublecross his own "leader", now that's evil), but Asmodeus is still the scariest, even scarier than Slagar!

I was going to go for Machoke, but I thought it fit Thymilph better. If I wanted to get Lordgenome, I'd probably use another fighting type, maybe Sawk or something like that. As for Yoko as Bellsprout, I used Bellsprout to learn "Flash". 

 

Cluny was the most dangerous, he actually won for a little bit and Mathias had to cheat to kill him.

 

And I can see that. I still think Slagar is uglier. 

 

Cluny=Badass

Slagar=Ugly and clever

Asmodeus=Scary

Badrang=...He's kind of a pussy really

Mewtwo fits Anti-Spiral better, imo. Lordgenome(it's one word, go figure) was a brawler and his intelligence came from experience. Maybe Lucario would be a good fit.

In retrospect, Vigoroth or Slaking would also work for Thymilph. I also named my obligatory Togepi "Lagann"

Indeed, but I am a lazy bum, so I went with the Machop family instead of trading for a Vigoroth or Slaking. And I was tempted to name my character Kamina, but decided to go with Simon. Kamina's name is going to go to Ho-Oh

Mathias practically emobodies that. He has no problems double teaming villains, is perfectly fine with killing people, stole Asmodeus's stuff, and refused to take a challenge to fight a big guy without his sword(in the books)
