Malinter: Fancy Mathematics

Malinter Fancy Mathematics     The day I stepped out of that hospital I was a whole new pony with the scars and the cutie mark to prove it. I had decided on becoming one of the Royal Guard. That meant I had to really push myself. I needed to smart. I needed to be strong. That meant exercising every day, studying every day.   And for the rest of the Semester that is exactly what I did. It made my teachers very happy but it also got me a lot mean looks from the under-achievers whe

Writing Updates (Please Give Feedback)

Hello, friends. I thought I'd give you a little update about what writing projects I have under the belt at the moment, and how far along they are. So here it is, my progress on the stories being worked on currently.   A Friend (Short Story for Pomfritter): I've been working on this one for a few days. I have it about 75% done. Be on the look for it sometime soon. It is a story that follows a moment between Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy while they were fillies in summer flight camp back in Clo

brohoof, brohoof, brohoof

lots of bronys on MLP forums are obsessed with getting brohoofs from other bronys which is great kind of like a sport. but some bronys when they get a certain amount of brohoofs lets say hundred send a thank you message to the brony who gave them their hundredth brohoof which is really nice. so every a hundred brohoof why not say thank you to the brony who made it happen, it will really put a smile on thier face. p.s saying can you give me a brohoof on the forums just looks desperate and wont he

Send in the Clown

Send in the Clown (G1.5 TV episode, September 4th 1992, 11 minutes)   Summary: Clover feels she cannot live up to her sister Meadowlark's career as a ballerina, but an accident forces Clover into the role of Harlequin alongside Meadowlark in the Nutcracker.   Nutcracker. I wonder what got altered to make it ponified.   Not much, apparently, if they include the pas de duex between the Harlequin and Columbine dolls.   That's not right. That's the music from Trepak, the Russian Dance from A

My Little Armory (Part 2)

Last week I talked about weapons that are in-show. This week, we do armor, and if I have time I'll dive into speculation about both weapons and armor.   There’s the Canterlot Guard armor, of course, with two variants the golden ‘Day Guard’, and the gray ‘Night Guard’. Shining Armor, as captain of the guard has an identical suit, but primarily purple rather than gold or gray. The guards of the Crystal Empire show up in identical designs, as do Luna’s personal guard (despite their batpony diff

Regarding Issues 11&12

I just finished issue 12, that arc should have been subtitled: The 80s Remembered.   Not that it's a bad thing, as someone who grew up with one foot in the 80s it actually made me smile seeing the writers give them a affectionate send-up. It was fun to see all the shout-outs and try and figure them all out.   Also, as small as it is the Highlander/Haylander poster in the one kids basement makes me happy because if nothing else I got one Highlander shout-out in MLP.

An Unexpectedly Profound Message From A Movie

I just saw the classic 80's movie The Breakfast Club earlier this morning and I was expecting it to be relatively entertaining and it was but it also had this great message about being true to yourself and not judging a book by its cover. It can best be summed up by this rather epic ending.

Malinter: Just a Hypothesis

Malinter Just a Hypothesis     I had been in the hospital a few weeks now even though I felt fine after the first few days. They told me they were just taking precautions. More surgery was performed during the last week of my stay to take out a few more pieces of the timber shards from my body. They had brought in some fancy doctor all the way from Canterlot to oversee the final operation. Seemed a bit much for a little earth pony like me. Once I was awake the nurses brought him

Birds of a Feather

Birds of a Feather (G1.5 TV episode, September 4th 1992, 11 minutes)   Summary: Bright Eyes leads her friends into the Old Woods to find the endangered Green Winged Songbird, and discover why this once plentiful bird is now so rare.   Not a bird person, but my uncle is, and he said there isn't anything resembling a green winged songbird in North America. I looked, and found a duck and an African finch, but that's it.   The Old Woods, that *nobody* has been to. Kinda mysterious for such a s

My biggest secret

I think my biggest secret is I love to cry.   I always have these pent up emotions that I feel like I'm struggling against. But I can't show any of these on my face because I'm supposed to be everyone's rock. So I swallow my emotions and act like the unfeeling stone everyone expects me to be.   After a while, I actually feel like I can't feel, and this scares me. If I can't feel emotion, than am I even a human? What if I lose my humanity? What will become of the people who rely on me? My fir

Name change, new phone, new... downsides

Hello, everypony. Now, in case you're wondering, I left my Heavyshy username and decided to go with Jon the Bronynerd now. I figured that it sounded quite fitting than Heavyshy and Jon the VGNerd. So, without further ado, I decided to make up a blog of my recent outcomes last night. Here we go:   I'll start off with the positive sides; I recently traded in my old Blackberry smartphone and received a brand-new Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini from Android, which I was filled with joy because it had a lot

Video Games: Then and Now

Today, I was having a conversation with my good friend, Shyflutters. We were talking about video games and he asked me about what console I was getting. I said the Wii U and I named off a couple of games I wanted for the system. One of them was Splinter Cell: Blacklist. He stopped me right there and he said that the game was a shame to the series. The Splinter Cell series is centered around stealth-based gameplay, where in this game, he said that if you're caught, you can pretty much just gun yo
