Emerald Heart

I remember division used to be my mathematical bugbear back when I was in infant school. Adding and subtracting? No problem! Simple multiplication easy! Then division came along and I was like huh? Finally understood what it was when the clods actually explained what the word division meant. Why not just say seperate things into neat and orderly piles of equal amounts in the first place. Sheesh! Would have saved my childhood self some bother.

I just searched for Quotient to see if I remember correctly, and wow the images shows Quotient being on top of a funny looking thingie I have never seen before. Okay, why can't people just choose one way to represent division, instead of making new confused ones!

Seriously, that maddens me

@Splashee The more we elaborate our means of communication, the less we communicate. That lesson is going to kick the human race in the crotch if it keeps trying to get too clever with terminology and overzealous with inventing new words for things that already have words to describe them.
