  1. Day 1 of becoming a musician: Struggling to figure out how Pro Tools works.

    1. Tacodidra

      Tacodidra

Good luck, my friend! :kindness: I'm sure the music you make will be amazing! :rarity:

  2. Hmmm...what should I record as my first demo?: "She Said" by Hasil Adkins, "Lucille" by Little Richard, or "I Can't Hardly Stand It" by Charlie Feathers?

  3. Check it out, guys! I finally made a topic for my music!:

  4. So, after much thought and admitted procrastinaton, here I am (finally) making a topic to post my music under. With that out of the way, let's get down to business to defeat the Huns and answer some questions you probably aren't gonna ask, but I'm gonna answer anyway. What kind of music do you make?: Horror/garage punk and psychobilly. What do you use to make music, and how do you approach making music?: I use Pro Tools First (for necessity's sake, since my cerebral palsy would make playing most instruments needlessly difficult); as for my approach to music, I operate on a practical "less is more" style - all my songs are built upon simple tom-and-snare drumbeats and chord progressions (50s, 12-bar, 8-bar, and 16-bar blues) and recorded in a quick, dirty fashion. I record in as few takes as possible (2 at most) and use little to no overdubbing, with the mixes being as raw as possibly feasible. What are your songs about, lyrically speaking?: Generally speaking, my lyrics deal with the common themes of my genres (i.e. cheesy B-movies, cars, women, and exploitative violence. They're not meant to be taken seriously whatsoever, and are VERY tongue in cheek. What bands/artists influence you?: The Cramps, Hasil Adkins, The Misfits, The Sonics, early Captain Beefheart, The Beach Boys, Tom Waits, Reverend Horton Heat, Tiger Army, Little Richard, Twin Temple, Devo, the B-52s, the Dead Kennedys, the Ramones, Green Jello, GWAR, Robert Johnson, The Mummies, Alice Cooper, the Rolling Stones...I think that's enough. ----- With that out of the way, expect me to post some demos real soon.
  5. So I'm finally gearing up to actually record some tunes - I already have a solid idea for my first single: "She Sniffs Glue"/"Chicken Walk" (the latter is a cover of a Hasil Adkins song).

  6. 3 months later, while I still identify as a member of TST, I also primarily consider myself a Hellenic polytheist.
  7. Main character descriptions for Club Penguin Adventures:

    Renegade:

    Quote

Renegade is not what you call a social butterfly. More like a social gadfly - he’s easily bored, and will often amuse himself by interrupting the tranquility and peace of Club Penguin Island via pranks and schemes to earn more coins. He’s not a malicious sort, though; he has his limits when it comes to his idea of fun, and will fix his messes whenever they inevitably arise. He cares deeply for his friends, especially Harletrix.

    Harletrix:

    Quote

A barista at Club Penguin’s local Coffee Shop, Harletrix is (surprisingly) somehow even crazier than Renegade; she tends to be hyperactive, chatty, and obsessed with theater and Halloween-type things. Yet these eccentricities mask an anxious, easily stressed girl who really just wants some friends.

    Jyger:

    Quote

a reporter for the Club Penguin Times, Jyger is the second closest to sane (the first being Goji). He’s often frustrated by the fact that not much is worth reporting on in Club Penguin - in fact, he often goes along with whatever Renegade has planned for that day’s misadventure because it’d make an interesting story (except when he doesn’t; just as often he and Goji have to be dragged into it).

    N. Harmonik:

    Quote

Jyger’s best friend and only other girl in the social circle, N. (most often called ‘Harm’ by the others) is a tour guide, ostensibly assigned to help other penguins get around the island - but, unfortunately, business is extremely slow (to the point she forgets she’s a tour guide at times) and thus contributing to her somewhat cynical views of her fellow birds. Harm does tend to come across as self-important and haughty to those who don’t know her very well, but she does tend to bring up good points when the need arises...when she isn’t spouting off incredibly obscure factoids or asking overly-specific questions about things most penguins take for granted and becoming needlessly frustrated when she doesn’t get the answers she wants. But she is reliable when things come down to it, and she does try to come up with solutions to problems even if they may not always make sense at first.

    Goji:

    Quote

the true only sane one of the group, Goji is a history teacher at Club Penguin University and looks the part - a tweed jacket, horn-rimmed glasses, black dress shoes, and a bag slung around him to carry his supplies. Generally, Goji likes peace and quiet; he’d much rather sit in the Coffee Shop with a good book and a steaming cup of joe than get caught up in comic hijinks. But befriending such an impulsive and unrestrained penguin like Renegade makes such impossible half the time. With a sarcastic streak a mile away, Goji is the definition of “jerk with a heart of gold”. Also has a well-hidden crush on DJ Cadence (but don’t tell him that).

  8. Folks I'm considering giving cameos in Club Penguin Adventures: @HawkbitAlpha, @The Wife of Hawks, @Emerald Heart, @Treeglow Flicker , @Cagey

    1. Emerald Heart
    2. Cagey

      Cagey

Oh? Thanks! It’ll sure be cool to read! :eager:

  9. So I'm gonna start on a project I've tried once before: a Club Penguin fanfic. This will be something new for me, on three fronts:

-It'll be my first attempt at slice-of-life.

-It'll be my first "script fic" (the central idea is a purely hypothetical Club Penguin cartoon, something I'm genuinely shocked that Disney never considered until very, very late into the game's lifespan).

-It'll be my first attempt at a PG rated fic, taking primary influence from 90s and 2000s cartoons like Rocko's Modern Life, Animaniacs, Ed, Edd, n Eddy, and a healthy dose of Phineas and Ferb's self-awareness. So expect quite a number of subtle adult jokes and maybe a mild cuss or two here and there.

  10. I'm gonna try and write my own interpretations and analyses on the Delphic Maxims; I view them in the same way as the Tao Te Ching - you can read them in as short as a minute or as long as a lifetime.

  11. Jason from The Good Place is my spirit animal.

  12. You are dead - there is no nice way to say it. You don't know exactly how you managed to kick the bucket, but the guy who greeted you, Michael, has that covered; in fact, he and his assistant Janet have all your accommodations covered. See, the afterlife isn't entirely like how the various myths and religions portray it. It's founded on a point system - every action you performed in your life had either a positive or negative value attached to it. For example, you see a homeless guy on the street, and you decide to buy him a couple cheeseburgers and a coffee instead of doing the usual "spare a buck or two" routine; congrats, you just earned 400 good points! However, because you wouldn't spare him some change, you get 50 or so bad points. Even good actions can have some negative effects. But that isn't what's important right now. What is, though, is that out of countless billions, you (yes, you) have managed to get enough points to get into the Good Place! You'll be assigned a soulmate (yes, they're real too, and they can be either platonic or romantic) and a house that represents the essence of who you were in life. You can have whatever you want at a moment's notice; just call on Janet. So welcome to the Neighborhood. Enjoy your eternity. -------- I've recently started watching The Good Place on Netflix (on Season 2 currently), and I had the realization that the basic premise makes for some good roleplay fodder. But in order to spice things up, I've decided to make this a multiversal-based RP, meaning you can use any characters, OC or otherwise, from any franchise. And, should anyone choose to, there's an underlying mystery to be solved (anyone who has seen The Good Place can see it coming a mile away, though, so shush, you!). I will be controlling the NPCs (Michael, Janet, and everyone else outside of the players). Now, before we begin, let me go over some rules. 1. No godmodding. 2. Tag whoever you're responding to; it makes RPing so much easier. 3. Swearing is...slightly complicated in the Good Place. There is an in-universe filter that turns any swear into a "close-enough" euphemism, as our characters will quickly find out. The most-commonly used euphemisms are as follows: Fork, shirt, bench, dink, ash, and cork. I'm pretty sure you can figure out what the "real" words are. 4. As this RP is going to only feature around 6/7 players, the slots are on a first-come, first-serve basis. 5. [SPOILERS FOR THE GOOD PLACE. IGNORE IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED. THIS IS YOUR ONLY WARNING.] -------- 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. -------- Character Sheet Name: Species: Homeworld (i.e. what franchise they're from) Age (when they died): Cause of Death (it can range from simple to hilariously audacious): Personality: Appearance: Other:
  13. Have started watching The Good Place  - might consider doing a "multiversal" RP based on it.

  14. For my first MLP-related project of 2021 (one of my resolutions is to get started on my writing, so this will not go to waste) is my attempt at a "1980s AU" for EQG: Don't You (Forget About Me). My primary influences will be John Hughes' teen films (specifically The Breakfast Club, reconstructing all the things it deconstructed), Saved by the Bell, and The Goldbergs.

      Sounds awesome, Renny.

      Happy New Year

  15. The history of Christmas and its pagan origins especially are fascinating - Saturnalia, the base for modern Christmas celebrations, is itself derived from Kronia, an ancient Greek festival taking place in late July-early August (so, in a sense, Christmas in July ). BUT the Greeks also had a winter solstice celebration - Posidea.
  16. OK, so after some thought due to gut feelings pulling me back towards it, I'm attempting to pursue Hellenic paganism once again; it helps a friend of mine has also been drawn to paganism, and has been helpfully encouraging me. To elaborate, I now consider myself an agnostic theist - meaning while I believe in the Greek gods and goddesses, the existence thereof is (currently) unknown and unknowable from our present baseline of knowledge about the universe.
  17. This is still my fondest memory of Suite Life.

  18. I'm primarily a rockbilly/psychobilly, punk, metal, and garage rock sort of guy, but I have a varied taste. Top 25 artists: -The Cramps -The White Stripes -The Beatles (particularly their pre-Sgt. Pepper material) -Iron Maiden -The Misfits -The Ramones -Hasil Adkins -Frank Zappa -The Beach Boys -Cheap Trick -Nobunny -The Shaggs -Nirvana -Captain Beefheart -Reverend Horton Heat -The Fuzztones -Cancerslug -The 5.6.7.8s -Twin Temple -Little Richard -Robert Johnson -Question Mark and the Mysterians -Screamin' Jay Hawkins -The Mummies -The Sonics
  19. You think "adventuring" (like, fantasy-style adventuring) is a viable occupation in Equestria?
