  1. You shading is magnificent and you do amazing things in Crayon. I'm terrible with Crayon. Those WIPs are gorgeous I can't wait to see them when they're finished!
  2. Oh these are gorgeous! I wish I had your sense of movement in a sketch. They really do seem lively. Also yay Cheerilee. She's one of my absolute favorites.
  3. Thank you, everyone! You have no idea how much I'm smiling over here because of all of your compliments. For anyone that asked about commissions you can check out my DA, it has all my information on that there. But oh my goodness thank you guys so much! Also, sorry about getting back so late to the thread! I've actually been working on commissions since the last time I posted. Like this fanfic cover. And gift art for folks at Bronycon. And some commissions that I got that were nsfw so they won't be posted here. But yes! Thank you guys so much, it's nice to hear that people like my work.
  4. It's a particular favorite of mine as well. I've been meaning to turn that into a shirt design too. And this past con I got and idea for an absolutely ridiculous follow up piece. I'll have to make sure I post it when I make it! Glad you like it!
  5. When I was born I had the cord wrapped around my throat and nearly died. When I was around seven or eight I had a massive asthma attack and was in the hospital for an entire week (spring break no less!). I only remembered throwing up and blacking out but apparently my mother was freaking out because I was trying to breathe and all the was coming out was foam because my throat was closed off so badly. I spent the week on oxygen with regular blood tests watching Sesame Street and being homesick.
  6. I actually just made an artwork post in the fanart section. Had to fiddle around with it a bit to figure out the best way to go about it, I'm not normally a forums user.
  7. Howdy! I'm Shrineheart it was suggested I check in here and maybe post some of my artwork to share with everypony. So here I am. I mostly do commission based work for people and I get commissioned for ponies fairly often. I do had my own pony characters but it seems like I never quite get around to drawing them! Onward with the art spam I suppose! [spoiler=Show] This was a commission made recently for a Fallout Equestria fic. One of the prints I had available at Bronycon. (Minus the color background.) Possibly my favorite piece of pony art I've ever done, "The Filly in the Fireplace". You Whovians will understand. A commission for a papercraft maker! This one was a lot of fun. Before the Filly in the Fireplace print, everyone who knew me in the pony community knew me by this piece. And then we have this...horrible horrible thing. This is my pony, each rendition of her leading up to the current one on the right. That 2011 one is like physically painful to look at it's so bad. A commission for a Trixie fan. Another commission, this one was done as part of a set of contest images. Basically someone held a contest on reddit and I did all of the prize art. A very interesting take on MLP that a commissioner requested. Lava ponies! And of course I have to round the whole thing out with my personal favorite: I have this design in my shop, I am ordering it on a hoodie or something before next Bronycon. The line is an allusion of the musical "Barnum" and it just suits these two so well. So, that's me and my stuff. I'll just crawl back under my rock over here and be mortified that I posted in a forum. I am such a Fluttershy, it's ridiculous. I also have a Deviantart and a Tumblr for my art if for any reason you'd like to follow my work.
  8. 5'4" and 184 lbs. Need to lose some of the chub most likely just for future health concerns (and because honestly having a large chest is an aggravation I could do without). My fiance and I have been walking trying to help with that.
  9. Luvmysub.png I was so hungry, and then my mom showed up with random subs. SoHappy. Scuse' me guys, I'll just be nomming this while you hug, and AB plushie attacks my head. Aha! I was the booth right next to this one. I remember seeing you guys take this photo!
  10. Yup, that's me. And thank you! I'll probably be poking around the fanart section to figure out how things work first before hopping into the fray there. I do a lot of commission work so the posts will most likely be other people's ponies.
  11. I work on commission so...their money? Just kidding, I promise. Though selling art to bronies has been helping me pay the bills which I much appreciate! I just think that it's a really nice environment, moreso in person than online. Bronycon was wonderful, everyone was polite and nice and just really awesome! Tonight I talked to a brony and I was anxious because we have different political views in some ways but after like, a half hour and a game of cards we were laughing and joking around back and forth and talking about these things without raging. THAT kind of thing is just great. I mean being able to chat about things we disagree on without having a problem is wonderful.
  12. Personally I have no issue with Cloppers so long as they're not shoving it on people? Like I've seen a shirt that had something along the lines of a rape allusion with MLP characters on tumblr and to me, that's not cool. But I mean if you ship and you like to draw it and write about it and stuff and you're not insisting everyone enjoy it then it's like, okay cool you do that bro. One thing about the fandom at large... Why so much grimdark and why so much "there was a WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR" type stuff? Like, both of those things aren't so bad at all times but it seems like I come across a lot of it. It just seems very overdone and sounds like repetitions of the same old thing. The two things I tend to have issues with are over zealous bronies that turn people off from the show and bronies that don't understand what is wrong with certain kinds of behaviors? Like, I come across "Nice Guy" bronies online at times that complain about friendzoning and such and I can't help but wonder how they behave around females. There's also a few that act like women are some mysterious other species or something. I just feel like a lot of folks in the fandom, given the young age (I'm anywhere from 5-10 years older than a lot of ones I've met) don't have enough experience to understand to reign themselves back a bit and that what they say/do can be problematic and can scare people off. Getting to go to Bronycon and meeting a lot of awesome bronies, seeing a lot of girls and kids there rekindled my faith in the fandom though, I have to say. It was a really good environment with a lot of really nice people.
  13. Okay so, I love your points here! Physical mental disabilities etc is the BIGGEST thing for me. My fiance has a blind pegasus (he's an interpretation of a human character we have in another project) and he's not helpless, he might need an assist while flying but he's just your average pony. I also tend to dislike "They're just crazy/homocidal/etc". I have no problems if a pony oc has a mental issue be that mental disorder, disability, etc. But do your research on the topic if you're going to take it seriously. Personally the extreme introvert is kind of up in the air for me. I have a character who is like that but we found a way to work him into the roleplay and it wasn't an issue. It all comes down to how you play the character and how the character interacts. Death of parents is usually more of a problem for me when it's like "Oh yeah parents are dead" with NO explanation about it. Just they're dead because it's convenient. I've seen people who pull off characters being related to or knowing the mane cast really well but it tends to be rare. If I were going to do it personally it would be in a rather 3rd party sort of way? Someone buying a dress from Rarity, someone talking about the new Alicorn princess, etc. If I was going to choose someone to be related to one of the cast members it would be part of the Apple Family because good god there are so many it would be believable if they had someone from their extended family show up. Color palettes and designs usually do need work. One thing I try to take into account with ALL OC ponies is that most of them are first timer's attempts at making a character. It's their first time being creative. If people ask for feedback I hand it to them if not them I don't bother. I actually do commissions of various characters for folks and there's a lot that could use some work design wise but might have great backstory and vice versa. To add to the list of things that bug me about OCs? Overly. Complicated. Cutie Marks. Ohmygod. Personally, my OCs just sort of come about based on ideas I have about the world and personalities I enjoy. Topline, one of my OCs, does dressage which in our headcanon is a form of dancing (since dressage is an actual equestrian sport IRL) his cutie mark is two hoof marks and a top hat. Simmer Down is a food vendor and enjoys cooking. Her mark is a frying pan. Cutie marks don't need to be overly complicated to get the point across, even nebulous concepts can be portrayed well in the show style. People who are just making OCs tend to do everything to the extremes. They want the character to be cool and flashy and well known. But in doing so they often toss out what makes characters seem real, relateable and believable. For me, I'm much more inclined to love a character if that character seems to have a real personality to me. If a character is all flash and no substance I'm not really interested.
  14. I was a vendor at Bronycon this year! And oh my god it was only my second con and it was fabulous. I literally spent the whole time chained to the vendor hall BUT highlights include: - Sold a lot of prints and passed out a lot of business cards, also spent a lot of money (between three people). Got to meet a lot of nice artists and collect some nice con swag. -Met the artist behind Ask Crayon. She's adorable, British, can do the voice of just about all girl ponies, and was cosplaying Doctor Whooves. It was her birthday so we gave her a free copy of my Filly in the Fireplace print. She teared up. -We bought a Rarity and Applejack plush from Walmart on day two. A little girl passed by our booth and her father asked if the Applejack was for sale. We had hunted -everywhere- for ours but after a bit of discussion Rattles grinned and said "I'll tell you what. $15 and you get her and two Applejack prints." The guy looked so happy. He ran off the ATM, came back and bought them and we got to see the happiest little girl in the whole con hugging her plushie as they left the booth. It was adorable. -There was a really nice Elusive cosplayer running around. Turns out he cosplayed as Elusive because he was a Diamond sponsor for the con so, since Rarity/Elusive's cutie mark is gems he thought it would be appropriate. I offered to send him free prints post con. -Ran into three guys at the closing ceremony that were really excited to meet artists from the vendors hall. They took pictures with us, they recorded us, we arranged to send them prints. -Had several people see our work and go "Why HAVEN'T I heard of you before?" -Met some awesome military bronies (about 2-3 groups of them!) might be helping them out by offering art services for their projects. -Met Kilt Man and talked to his girlfriend online who was trying to get people to take pictures of him at the con in exchange for sketches of ponies. Passed out the information to people secretly since we were down about two booths from the booth he was working at. He had no idea what the pictures were for it was great. -Had three fellas from Oklahoma, two ladies from New York, a dude and lady from Louisiana, and a fellow from Pennsylvania staying with us for the duration of the con. Eight people in addition to our three. So it was a packed house and it was nice to hang out with them! I also learned, never say fun. Never. Pinkie Pies will descend upon you in a herd.
  15. Earth pony because I identify with Applejack. Earth ponies generally seem more grounded and such which suits me. I'm scared of heights and I just don't consider myself particularly magical. Though if sea ponies were around that would have been an alternate because I love the water.
  16. Thank you guys! I have to say this is the warmest welcome I've gotten to a forum in a long time! And yes I do post my work online actually, it's how I make a living at the moment. My deviantart is here. My shop is here. And these were the prints I was selling at the convention. I was at a booth with my fiance and roommate who were also selling their work.
  17. Hello, hello! I'm Shrineheart, Shrine for short. Didn't know this place existed before Bronycon! I was selling art prints there this year with my roommate and fiance and someone dropped off a business card for this site. I'm always up for chatting with fellow bronies so I thought it might be good to stop by!
