The one thing I dislike about them is they show up as a notification, making me think I have responses to my topics. I'm fine with people using them, but I don't really have anything to say personally to people I don't even know. I was never one for chat rooms, so I don't care for statuses or visiting others.

It's you again, Fluttercry. I notice that like before you like drawing giraffe necks. Maybe Twilight has a neck stretching spell so she can see her high-up books easier. I don't really mind that. It's interesting you bring up only having supplies used by your average third grader, as the bookshelf feels like it was made by a third grader. It just looks like a mishmash of colored rectangles. Can I borrow some of them for tetris? Maybe if you just drew some thin borders and/or some scribbles that look like titles they'd look more like books. I really don't mind crayon coloring, but with the rest of the picture looking good the bookshelf really stands out. Other than that I like it. Keep up the good work. BTW what is a WIP? I'm assuming the P stands for picture...or pony. You know, sudden long necks are canon going by lesson zero. We can just say Twilight is sitting down instead of standing.

Getting close, or so I'd like to believe, to finishing my fanfic. Just when I thought I had everything planned out, I got more ideas and now it's coming out even longer. I want to just take a break from it but I know myself too well. If I take even one day off then I'll lose the momentum along with my inspiration. It always happens. and I still have three more that I need to do, one of which two people are waiting for.

Actually it's really not too far off. While she may love her closest friends, and indeed everybody, she has also been shown to be EXTREMELY insecure at the same time. Take Wonderbolts Academy. She spent half the episode insistently checking a mailbox every few seconds for a letter from Rainbow Dash, becoming convinced that after only a day of no letter that Rainbow Dash had forgotten all of them already. You kinda need look no further than Too Many Pinkie Pies to see how important her true friends are with the whole watching paint dry competition. Having to do something extremely boring, sit absolutely still and not letting a single thing distract her, all breaks from her usual character. If you think about it, the way Pinkie's mind works makes it all make sense, though. When she first saw the Sonic Rainboom she felt intense joy for the first time in her life, and so she tried to share it with her family. When at first they seemed to not like it she felt some of that happiness leaking away until they showed they did like it. Now that she was successful at that she earned her cutie mark, and made it her life's work to do the same for everyone she meets, to try to bring as much joy and laughter and smiles to every single pony and brighten their lives, just like the SR did for her. The big issue with that though, as has been demonstrated in several episodes, is that she can be emotionally immature and relentless in her pursuits, showing that she's sure she knows whats best for others and trying to force it on them without respecting their boundaries. Case in point, Cranky. He rebuffed her attempts to befriend him, something that's hardly happened for her. In Pinkie's mind, she HAD HAD HAD to be his friend, because he was an unhappy donkey, and she COULD DEFINITELY cheer him up, because that's what she was best at. And if she wasn't his friend than it meant she was failing in what she perceived as her calling, of bringing joy and happiness to others. You could also look at is it that Pinkie has a psychological need to be friends with everyone, because to her she has no enemies so everyone should be glad to be her friend. However, if someone doesn't like her, even one single pony, donkey, etc, then it probably brings her mentally back to her original unhappy joyless, friendless days at the rock farm, and she feels she MUST rescue them from themselves with her talent, again forcing her beliefs onto others because she thinks she knows what's best and doesn't want to go back to those sad times. And in regards to the actual question being asked in the topic, parties are a great place to bring people happiness. I don't know how popular this fanon idea I read once, but someone said that they thought that Sonic Rainboom messed with Pinkie's head, considering she's the only one actually shown to have an appearance change from it. Hey, maybe it's where she got her fourth wall breaking powers.Okay, getting back on topic. So it's not too surprising that she had a mental breakdown and overreacted in such a fashion, because a party without any guests is a very lonely experience that, again, probably brought her mind back to the rock farm, and she couldn't handle that. Her friends all lying and making excuses to avoid her, her very best friends out of all of them would of course have a powerful impact on her, and despite the lesson she learned in the episode Party of One, Pinkie herself says in another episode about losing a friends trust is the fastest way to lose a friend. And maybe that's where her insecurity came from. She's lost trust slightly in her friends. Even if she eventually found out they were lying to her for her own benefit so they could throw her a surprise party, they still lied to her. And if they did it once, why not again? However, at the same time, the thought of losing her closest friends is unbearable to her. So at the first sign of trouble, of her friends possibly not liking her anymore, she begins to panic because she doesn't want to lose them, and has to do all she can to hold on to them. Thus. she sits at a mailbox for a whole day, wanting to write back to Rainbow Dash the second she gets her letter so she isn't forgotten by her friend. Heh. If you couldn't tell already from my username, I'm sure you know now that Pinkie is my favorite and I'm pretty big on analyzing her where I can. Sorry for the speech. Got a little carried away. But I hope that it satisfies you and gives you the answer you were seeking.

I've been trying to find the theme that plays at Diamond Tiara's cutecenera and during the Crusaders going all around Ponyville trying things to a musical montage, but I can't find it. Trying CMC theme gets me their performance from the show stoppers. It's such a catchy tune. Is there an instrumental track for it?

If you look at the area around the camp, there are scattered clouds all over the place, with absolutely no 'safety net' to protect the little fillies and colts who enroll there. Granted the camp may try to run under the bird principle of trying to force out talent for flight by putting you in a situation where you have to use it, but for really weak fliers like Fluttershy, whose wings lock up when she gets scared, that just doesn't apply. She was knocked off her cloud, heading right for the surface hundreds of feet down. Not only did the camp leaders not try to save her, they don't even come to check on her later, giving her enough time to sing an adorable song and get her cutie mark. And if it hadn't been for a lucky batch of butterflies we wouldn't have Fluttershy as part of the mane cast. No wonder she moved into a house on the surface with conditions like that. Who knows how many near misses or actual deaths may have come up from the serious lack of safety features. I'm sure Fluttershy isn't the ONE, SINGLE pegasus who has flight anxiety. Then again, it is called Junior Flight CAMP, meaning it may be less about teaching Pegasi to fly better, and more just like a summer camp for pegasi kids.

Sweetie Belle DOES live with her parents. Remember in Sisterhooves social where it was stated that Sweetie Belle was due to stay there for a week, and Rarity started panicking? Add that to the fact that she brought a million things over. Why would she bring so much over if she already lived with Rarity? And if that isn't enough for you then just look at one bad apple. It's a bit easy to miss, but right after Sweetie Belle's infamous 'tea kettle' crying, it shoots to the outside of a house with her dad outside fishing, then to the inside where we can see Sweetie Belle's room. And it definitely isn't Rarity's place, as we see from 'Green isn't your color' that she lives at her boutique.
-
Nope. Rarity showed Sweetie Belle the silk she was going to use. Right after Fluttershy and Crusaders showed up and Sweetie Belle showed off the capes Rarity panicked and went to the silk, and there were now three square holes in it suited to the size of their capes and she had to visibly struggle to pull the material from the sewing machine, meaning it had just been used. I just rewatched that part of the episode to double check that before I posted. Sweetie Belle says she made them herself.
-
In the episode "Stare Master" from season 1, Sweetie Belle created capes for all three girls, even managing in the like 20 seconds that Rarity was distracted by Fluttershy to cut out and line three capes perfectly with the gold silk Rarity was planning to use for her dresses. However, the next time she tries to sew something in THE VERY NEXT EPISODE, their costumes for the talent show from "The Show Stoppers", they come out horrible with an extra leg hole. It just seems like one of those things the writers had to do so that all three of them would suck at what they were working on but wanted to do.

So this is really bugging me. Speech incoming. You were warned. In terms of the three CMC, Sweetie Belle gives me the most difficulty in painting a personality. I have two fanfics in progress, one focusing on Applebloom/Applejack as well as AB/Diamond Tiara, and another focusing on Scootaloo/Rainbow Dash. With canon and fanon their issues are pretty clear and easy to revolve around a story. The basis of any story needs a conflict and have the characters deal with that conflict to be interesting and pull the reader in. While all three get attacked, Applebloom is the main focus of DT and SS's bullying. There is also her not having parents as well as her sisterly relationship. Scootaloo has her fierce desire to be accepted by her idol Rainbow Dash, along with the fanon that she's an orphan/can't fly. Sweetie Belle only has her occassional spats with Rarity. Although I don't know if this is a common opinion, I read on one site that some people believe she has an abusive homelife because of the way she reacted when Applejack jumped at Applebloom, seemingly to attack Applebloom because her sister spilled grape juice on her. In terms of speaking/thoughts, there are things you can do with a character where, without any other context, you can name that character right off the bat. For Applebloom it's her southern drawl. For Scootaloo you can throw in a fangirl Rainbow Dash comment or a tough girl act. I can't think of anything distinct for Sweetie Belle. In terms of personality, all three have an idolization for their sisters. Applebloom is the one most bothered by her lack of cutie mark, given their bowling trip where Sweetie said she still had fun and Scootaloo said it was just a cutie mark. Scootaloo has her scooter, trying to pull off tricks to look cool and being a tomboy Rainbow Dash fanatic. Really, in terms of the three, Sweetie Belle is my favorite in the show, because she's just so adorable, has an amazing singing voice. But trying to write her as a character, I just can't think of anything to write about with her. Outside of arguments with Rarity, she really doesn't have any conflicts to resolve. Maybe it's oversimplifying, but her general role in the CMC is basically to react to things and, well, be a sweetie. It's like her only real purpose there is to be cute and adorable and not much else. She's usually the happiest of the CMC, and really, without Rarity, she tends to only get upset along WITH the others, not by herself. Really, I'm curious, outside of a Rarity match-up, what is it that people write about with Sweetie Belle? What problems do they give her to overcome, because really she's got me at a loss.

request I'd like an injured Scootaloo for my fanfic.
Never2muchpinkie replied to Never2muchpinkie's topic in Requestria
That would be SO AWESOME! Sorry. Couldn't resist. Yeah, if you could help with that it would be much appreciated. Poor scootaloo gets a lot of grief and keeps getting pulled back every time she starts getting ahead for much of the fanfic, but she gets her just rewards at the end. It only needs another few hours. -
Well, I've finally buckled down and commited to finishing at least ONE of my four MLP fanfics. It's your typical Rainbow/Scootaloo fic which deals with Scootaloo struggling to fly because of a wing condition. The two most common fanon interpretations of Scootaloo seem to be orphaned and/or can't fly, so I'm addressing them both with one event. Basically Scootaloo's real parents were not from ponyville/cloudsdale, and flew too close to the everfree forest at night with baby Scootaloo. They were attacked by something, she went flying, her fall only just being broken slightly by her blanket getting caught in a tree, leaving her to be found by a kindly old mare. The fall damaged her wings which never recovered properly because she was so young when it happened the delicate little bones in her wings didn't re-set properly. I don't think I'll actually USE the picture in the story, as it seems a little too sad to see an injured baby and the actual fic itself is told from Scootaloo's perspective, so she was too young to remember it and just informs the readers what she was told about it, but I'd just like it for myself. For a model I quite like this picture from a My little Dashie trailer on youtube. I'd like her wing to damaged, maybe sticking out at a weird angle, with dust and scratches on her body. For the background I'd like the everfree forest towering menacingly over the unconscious filly, one of the trees having a blanket stuck to it and blowing in the wind, maybe a moon and stars overhead.

This is off-topic but I love your profile pic. It's about time Celestia dropped her royal demeanor and just slept in the shade of a tree. You know, looking at that it makes me wonder if her hair still 'flows' while she's sleeping. Hey, that gives me a topic idea And totally made it too! http://mlpforums.com/topic/77439-do-you-think-celestialunas-mane-still-flows-while-theyre-sleeping/

Yes, from an OUTSIDE perspective we know they are dead. However, it's not going to be said IN-UNIVERSE because that would be too sad of an episode. Glad you like the line. I'm on the downward arc for that fic, having cleared the top of the mountain and getting ready to coast down the other side. In other words, it's over half done. =) I'll be glad to share it with you when it's ready if you're interested.

Well, not necessarily dancing moves. She shows she has a definite athletic ability. I think, giver scootaloo/scooter that she's going to have a scooter related cutie mark. That is the episode I'm most looking forward too. Scootaloo has shown that she can at least hover with her wings for a very brief period, compared to an earlier episode where she could only lift the back part of her body while her head was in the dirt. Well, people think that because I read that was Faust's original intention with Scootaloo. But just like with Applejack's parents being dead it can't be implemented in the show because of the candy and sweetness world they lived in would make that too sad. I'm making a fanfic about this where Scootaloo gets a scooter cutie mark, and even after she can fly she still mostly uses her wings as an aid to her scootering because Rainbow Dash, after the whole becoming sisters thing, told her that she should find her own legend instead of just being a clone of her. "I don't want your legend to be in my shadow. I want you to stand beside me in the sun."

Okay, I think this comic here perfectly illustrates the topic title. We can pass off Pound Cake being able to fly as just going by instinct like Pumpkin, but...this. Right above. I know he's a joke pony and some have compared his wings to being the result of the pony version reaction to steroids, but how can you not think Scootaloo is disabled with Snowflake around?

I already made a topic on this, sort-of, asking about why Cheerilee can be such a bad teacher sometimes. From what we can tell, she either knew but did nothing and waited for them to realize they were doing wrong, or paid no attention to the work her students were putting out and somehow heard absolutely nothing despite the paper growing in such popularity that it made it's way to Cloudsdale. The simple answer I got was that it simply would end the conflict too easy. If Cheerilee had stopped the CMC after their second article then the drama would end and they'd have to find some other direction to go for the episode. And there was a suggestion I saw on another site that Featherweight was the one who told Cheerilee about the blackmail. If you look at the scene you can see Featherweight outside at the window taking a picture.

Well Pinkie is the master of not respecting boundaries, and Rainbow Dash usually just shows up because she crashes trying a trick, but I see your point. However, my point still stands. Some of the pictures he took would have been humiliating enough even without a Gabby Gums article to go with it. And all the ponies themselves talk about how there is no respect for privacy. And, in part, it may be the pictures themselves that gave the CMC ideas for an article. As I said in my first post, he was probably just following orders and may be young enough not to realize he was doing something bad. However. even though DT got to stay on as part of the staff after what she did, she got demoted to the messiest job on staff. Featherweight not only didn't get ANY flak for what he did, all the blame going to the CMC. he got promoted on top of it to the highest position. That's where my issue comes in.
-
At the end of the episode the printing guy got promoted to photographer, so no, I don't think he wanted to be a journalist. I think they just picked him because he had a name. Seriously. Outside of the CMC and DT, he was the only named side character in the episode. And it wasn't all just the CMC and DT. Things like Pinkie at a party or the Cakes with their babies going shopping were public enough, but the pics of Big Mac and Applejack were on their farm, and Celestia was probably eating in her home, as given her polite and royal demeanor I doubt she'd be eating like that in public. Same thing with the mayor's 'mane-dying scandal.' So to get those kinds of pictures Featherweight would have to enter their private property. And given the attitude of the town after the identity of gabby gums came out, they most have written columns about just about everyone in town, as why else would they react that way if they loved her columns so much? "Oh I love your columns, but I hate you."
-
This was one of broken lessons that show up in the show. I mean, he probably had no ill intent. After all, he was just following Diamond Tiara's orders to 'document everything', but to do that he still had to invade people's privacy and was really no better than the CMC in terms of embarrassing others because you can't claim a picture as a lie like you can with words. Since the technology in ponyville is simple, there definitely isn't photoshop in their world. Things like Celestia's atrocious cake eating manners, Big Mac with the smartypants doll. He helped to ruin ponies reputations, and yet at the end of the episode he gets PROMOTED to editor-in-chief. Again, WHAT???
