  1. I've had a fun first day here, everyone! I think I'm gonna head off to the ol' stable for for some shut-eye now though. Catch you all tomorrow!

    1. Twilight Sparkle ✨

      Twilight Sparkle ✨

Glad we made a good first impression on you! I look forward to seeing you around in the coming days and weeks, Legendary Emerald. :-)

  2. My favorite song used to be "Art of the Dress", but I think "Smile Smile Smile" might overtake it now. Least favorite would be "Winter Wrap Up". For me, at least, it was just very forgetable. Actually, now that I think about it, the episode as a whole was pretty forgettable.
  3. Before FiM, ponies were still My Little Pony to me. My sister used to have DVDs of the 1980 pony show, and I'd see her watching them. I remember one of the movies she had featured Kath Soucie* voicing a pony named (according to wikipedia) Princess Tiffany/Starburst. I watched the rest of the movie with her just to hear that voice come out of a pony. I find this hilarious nowadays, because Kath Soucie's voice is a lot like Tara Strong's. I used to confuse the two's voices quite a bit when I first started paying attention to the voices in cartoons, until I learned to recognize the difference in pitch that was usually present. *Voice of Sally Acorn in Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM), Lola Bunny in the Space Jam , Phil. Lil, and Betty DeVille in Rugrats, and many more.
  4. Before I'd actually watched the show, I'd told my mother about how My Little Pony had become a huge thing on the internet among people my age. She called all bronies a bunch of perverts, and I had to tell her that it wasn't quite what she was thinking. My mother is pretty cool though; she and I used to watch Tenchi Universe and Tenchi Muyo when it was still airing on Cartoon Network. My father is mostly ambivalent towards my love of cartoons so, I doubt he'd care much. The only reason I haven't bothered to tell either of them is that it hasn't ever come up in conversation. I'm away at college, so I don't talk to them all that much.
  5. Right now I've been mostly playing League of Legends and Left 4 Dead 2. Simple mutliplayer stuff that I can play with friends. But I'm also a big fan of the various Mega Man series, as well as Devil May Cry, Ratchet & Clank, and pre-XIII Final Fantasy (avatar is Squall Leonhart from FFVIII as a pony; big thanks to the original artist). Hah, this post appeared right as I was responding to the last. I love me some metal, though in the past five years or so my tastes have diversified quite a bit. I still headbang with the best of them, though, even if it is to bands most people haven't heard of outside of Germany and Japan. I'm enjoying this site already. I really love the design, in terms of color and the layout. It's very familiar to me, and I already know how to do everything because I'm on another forum that uses the same scheme. Also, the fact that everyone here is so friendly doesn't hurt either, lol.
  6. I was going to try out this game just now, but instead I ended up just idling on the title screen, listening to the song loop over and over again. So this is what insanity feels like...

    mega thread Metal Thread

A metal thread, you say? Kickass.
  8. Well I don't usually care for what society thinks of me, but I there are quite a few games I enjoy that people would like to call me insane for playing. Good examples would be Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), Duke Nukem Forever, and Final Fantasy VIII. And I have the SpoonyOne to blame for that last one; it was such a respected game until he crapped all over it, lol.
  9. Thanks, I'm sure I will. Because if nothing else, the emoticons are amazing! Hah, I was wondering how long it would be until someone officially rolled out the welcome wagon! SSMB is the Sonic Stadium Message Board; they had a thread on FiM which I avoided like the plague, until one day when I was very bored. I asked for a single episode to watch, and I got my wish. After that, well... here I am! Also, my favorite Sonic character is probably Blaze the Cat.
  10. My sister is around 11 years old. She laughed at me when I told her I watched FiM. She said that the My Little Pony she used to watch on DVD and VHS looked better than it. > ? ...nope. My sis is insane.
  11. 7.5 out of 10 I've never really listened to much of Beck's music, outside of his work on the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack, but this was pretty sweet. It was a nice mixture of grunge and indy, and I can respect that. My turn! Here's where everyone learns I have weird taste in music. And yes, most of the music I post here will be foreign to you, in both language and style.
  12. 1.Do you believe in an afterlife? Nope. It just doesn't make sense that one would exist, both from a scientific standpoint, and from my own personal thoughts on the matter. 2. Are you a religious person and if so what does your specified religion state about death? Nope. Been an athiest for many years now. See my answer to number 1 for details. 3. Are you scared of death/oblivion Yeah, I guess. I just think that, at least in my case, life and consciousness is always preferable to death and unconsciousness. I don't spend much time worrying about it though, because there's nothing that can be done about it, and I'd rather just live my life and have fun than worry about the things that are out of my control.
  13. Hello! I'm planning to ask some people to pre-read what I've got so far before I post it for everyone to see. This will be the first fanfiction I've wrote since highschool, and I want to show improvement since then. Heh, thanks. I'm pretty terrible at introductions though, really. I keep telling myself I should just write a uniform one and copy it to every website I join, but I never get around to it. So instead I just end up winging it everytime I have to introduce myself again. Lol, I haven't heard THAT one before. I really haven't though. Huh, that must make you wittier than 80% of the people I've met. You've correctly guessed the source of one part of my username, anyways. The other part is a bit less obvious, or maybe its more obvious. Either way, it relates to the Mega Man Legends series, so, mystery solved!
  14. I saw the episode yesterday, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. The intro sequence was a bit confusing for me, as I haven't seen many season 2 episodes yet and don't know the story between the two baby dragons. But that didn't matter too much, because next up was an extended musical scene! One of the better ones in the series too; I'm still surprised by the fact that there are still cartoons today that have musical numbers that aren't absolute trash! In fact, I'm now going to listen to the song from this episode again while writing the rest of this post. ... Awesome! Okay, so, the rest of the episode. To be honest, the song number sort of overshadowed everything else for me. That's not to say there weren't some hilarious moments, though. The line, "this donkey is really, really, bald!" had me laughing out loud in particular. A large chunk of the episode's run-time was dedicated to Loony-Toon style antics, and it was fun to watch the animators try to out-do themselves in getting across the manic nature of the enigma which is Pinkie. I guess my only problem with the episode was the pacing. It officially starts with a 3 and a half minute song, and the rest focuses almost exclusively on two characters and their butting heads; despite the chase scenes, quick editing, and inclusion of even more song, its very slow paced, and perhaps a bit uneven as well. The episode felt padded, as if there wasn't enough time to tell the intended story, there wasn't enough story for the required time. I'm sure the plethora of songs included in the episode had something to do with it either way. To me, the episode felt less like a TV show and more like a short stage-play, right down to the musical numbers. Which isn't a bad thing, really, but its not what I prefer, I guess. Other than that though, it was a solid episode. I just don't think it'll end up being one of my personal favorites. Except the song. That's definately going into my mp3 player.
  15. 11:39. PM. I've just registered an account on a My Little Pony based forum. Hmm... yup. I'm a brony. Hello everyone, my name is Legendary Emerald! I only started watching ponies last month, but since then, it's taken over a signifcant portion of my time. I suppose that's just normal though for a show as fun and enjoyable as FiM. Doesn't stop my friends from ragging on me about it all the time, but what do they know? All you really need to know about me is that I'm a cool guy on the internet who loves animation, music, videogames, and fanfiction. My favorite pony is Fluttershy, my favorite episode is "Over A Barrel", and I don't ship any characters. I've also been writing a fanfiction based on this show for a bit now, but that's a topic for a different thread. My plans for this site are to have fun talking about the show, meet some cool people, and discuss writing. Hopefully this forum can provide that for me, and I can provide you all with... well, me! Because I'm such a valuable commodity, don't you know? Also, a special "hello" to any members of the SSMB who might be here; if it weren't for you absorbing all the Sonic fans into your fold, I'd have never gotten into the series. Thanks for that.
