  1. Hi! I'm wondering if anyone else thought there maybe should have been a more efficient way to handle the autographs at BABSCon? I don't know because I haven't been to any other conventions, but I felt bad that the room had only a certain number of people at a time, and most of them were in Ashleigh or Tara's line. That meant that a lot of the other voice actors were just sitting there with nothing to do. Maybe it's unfair, but it seems to me that if the voice actor wasn't one of the main characters of the show that the price of the autograph could maybe be lower? I mean, $20 is a fair bit of money, especially if there are 7 or 8 people in the room. If you add in a picture for $10, it would have cost $240 per person just to get them all. Not that I'm cheap, but I had my 2 kids with me, and I just can't spend $750 on autographs. In the end, my little one only wanted Andrea Libman, so I gave all my vouchers to my oldest and she got almost everyone she wanted and a photo with Brynna Drummond. Also, the voucher system? There was no one selling vouchers that I could find except a single person, and she went down that huge line and I never saw her again, so even if I did want to spend $750 on autographs, I couldn't because they only took vouchers (except Tara only took cash.) This seemed very clunky to me. Either make the vouchers available in the room, or online, or make them optional. Really, why wouldn't someone take cash except for security reasons of course. Maybe if some of the more minor characters were only charging $10 or even $5 they might have had a nice line too, and then instead of only a few people paying them $20, they could have had hundreds of people paying them $5 so it seems like a win-win to me. They looked so bored and kind of sad.
  2. I wish Golden Gate was on the shirt. Why can't I get a Golden Gate shirt BABscon people??? This shirt is cool but it doesn't even say Babscon on it. pardon my french but wtf.
  3. @Diva Pony Sacramento yeah! It was at Sac State University. https://www.facebook.com/SacBronyExpo Unfortunately it turned out to be a one shot event, but it was very intimate and very fun. Lots of great people and friendship abounded. Big name guest star was Dusty Katt who was totally awesome as always!!
  4. It was fantastic! Nowhere near as intimate as the belated Sac Brony Expo, but still it was fantastic. I was just in a daze for a second there in the autograph room realizing I was just standing there in a tiny room with Ashleigh, Tara, Andrea, Peter, Nicole, Cathy, Brynna and Brian Drummond! I mean, I know it's sometimes not cool to think of them as their characters, but I was in a room with 5 of the Mane Six, Spike, Big Mac, Princess Celestia and Babs Seed! *swoons* So Awesome!! I can't wait for next year and hopefully we'll go the full monty with a hotel and staying for at least 2 of the days instead of only one.
  5. 45 and I love the show so much. I brought my kids also who are 8 and 15, though, so we only average age 22 ;P
  6. We went today (Sat) and had a great time! VA Panel was awesome, Sherclop Pones were amazing and fantastic, got Ashleigh Ball's autograph!! Wonderful. Unfortunately, had to leave to meet my inlaws for dinner right in the middle of The Voice competition. Judges were Tara Strong, Brian Drummond (He did say, "It's over Nine Thousaaaaaaaaand!!!" a couple times) and Nicole Oliver, with Peter New hosting. er.. please, any help? I was enjoying the competition so much and we had to leave. They wouldn't say what the prize was until the end of the show, but said it would blow your mind. So... who won? What did they get? Thanks for any help -Frank aka guy with a FlufflePuff shirt on and 2 little girls with him edited: oh! I see that @heartlessomega won! He was awesome!! Did anyone see what the prize was?
  7. Gods... or pegearthacorns. Seriously, though, the original post was brilliant. I totally love it.
  8. I took my 2 daughters to a brony con (Sac Brony Expo.) It was a small one, I should say, but we all had a great time. My youngest was 8 and my oldest is in her teens. There were a few kids there, and they all got special treatment from the panelists. I think we saw a panel from the Everfree NW podcasters, and they gave out free stuff to any kid they could see in the audience. My little one got a free Trixie doll and was ecstatic. She also got a free poster and a free hat from other bronies. There was nothing untoward, and they weren't unwecome in the least. The only caveat is that littler ones get bored easily, so it might be better to have 2 adults so they don't have to stand in every single line? There wasn't any sort of kids area, but she went to various panels about brony music and fan art, etc and had a good time. In a couple of months we're going to BABScon, which is going to be a monster. I hope we get to meet at least one star for an autograph, they'll be thrilled.
  9. You do, honestly? Gosh I wish I could introduce you to my father in law. He lives to argue, much to all of our chagrin. Maybe you should be a lawyer, that could end up being a dream job. I mean, if you have to work, it may as well be at something you love doing!
  10. Derpy!! I'm so glad you came back to race for Ponyville. Where were you for the last 6 months?
  11. Wow, this post really affected me. I was just reading it and then suddenly in tears. Thank you for sharing this it's such a profound story of how one person really can reach out and help another, and then it just carries on from there.
  12. I wish I had a nice my little pony pillow pet to cuddle with. I don't date any plushies, but I do have a blind bag Misty Fly I got in my stocking expoxied on the handlebars of my motorcycle. I ride about 2 hours each way almost every day commuting to work and I feel better having a "friend" with me on the bike rather than just being alone. My motorcycle mechanic saw it and just said, "Co-pilot, huh?" and smiled. Misty Fly - http://www.strawberryreef.com/Index/Name/mistyflyFIMmini.html
  13. You could try a craft store and get some fabric paint? Might be good to do a couple of tests on some scrap fabric, then paint it on any old shirt you want! Alternately, there are people on ebay who do custom airbrush shirts who I'm sure would be more than happy to negotiate something with you. I've gotten quite a few custom shirts for me and my kids (just the mane 6) and they are fantastic and unique!
  14. Wow thanks everypony! If I get a chance I'll take some pics of my bike (Suzuki VX800) and put them up. I've got a couple more MLP stickers on order from ebay to put on it when they get here. I love watching every episode just as much as the kids and we all have MLP and flufflepuff stickers all over our laptops. Going to the Sac Brony Expo was a great experience for all of us and we're looking forward to BABSCon soon!
  15. No, not at all. You know your horses very well, too. I truly enjoyed your original post and this entire discussion. What's not to like about ponies, after all.
  16. If by "all technical" you mean accurate, then again you can't say that "horses are extinct in the wild." There are horses in the wild, so no. You can say that perhaps the ancient wild ancestor to the modern horse is extinct, but not all horses in general. And, again, Przewalski's horses are truly wild and by DNA are considered to be possible ancestors to the modern horse, but that's neither here nor there. My main point is that "ponies," can exist in the wild and "small horses" can evolve on their own, so your original assumption that humans must have existed in Equestria to "make" ponies by breeding larger horses into smaller shapes is not a valid argument. You're saying it is cause and effect: "Because ponies exist, humans did because the only way ponies exist is for humans to make them." In fact, as you know, nature "makes" animals by exerting environmental pressures and the animals who survive are those which adapt, regardless of what they choose to eventually call themselves. I do agree, however, that ponies which call themselves ponies, seem to have horse relatives, as evidenced by the song, "Hearts as Strong as Horses."
  17. Przewalski's Horse are still in the wild. They apparently were reintroduced to the wild but are completely undomesticated. And I wouldn't say that horses were extinct in the wild because there are domesticated horses that escaped into the wild and are thriving quite nicely in the US, Canada and Australia. They thrive so well that they have to be culled.
  18. I resisted the term at first and I still don't call myself or think of myself as a brony, but I know that technically I AM a brony because of the definition. So, I'm just a guy who loves My Little Pony, and if anyone asks if I'm a brony I say yeah.
  19. I liked the theme from Arthur when it came out but I've since grown tired of Christopher Cross, so... MLP Daniel Ingram is simply amazing. ... and yeah, I know.
  20. Um, hate to bring reality into this, but species can evolve without being specifically, "bred." Look in the mirror for an example. Also, ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pony ) from Wikipedia: "The ancestors of most modern ponies developed small stature due to living on the margins of livable horse habitat. These smaller animals were domesticated and bred for various purposes all over the northern hemisphere." So according to that horses evolved into smaller statures on their own to meet the demands of living in a certain environment. Only later did humans domesticate them, breed them and use them. Animals living in a magic world? Who knows what kind of environmental pressures they might have evolved under and you can't just say, "Ponies could not survive in the wild," because that simply isn't borne out by the available data. There are wild pony herds living in many places on earth right this second.
  21. I see what you're saying and what others are saying, and I guess it makes sense to me, too, because when they show the 3 main CMC running around doing things it wouldn't make sense to put Babs in there because she lives pretty far away and so she doesn't actually run around with them doing things. I hope they bring her back just once in a while to show that she still exists.
  22. I find it very sad that someone would shred their original art just to keep people from seeing it. You should think about putting it on ebay or dA. I live in CA so no one really hassles me about being a brony though I don't go around shouting it. The only time I've worn a pony shirt in public was when i went to a con and I did feel very selfconscious about it until I got to the con and saw how everyone there was the same. Cons are great because they are a place where you can finally feel that you are a normal and welcome part of the world.
  23. We bought ours at Raley's grocery store. I've also seen them at Rite Aid.
