  1. I thought it was a great adaptation. You have to go into novel-to-film adaptations knowing that a lot will be left out, that's just how it the game is played. They can't make a 6 hour movie with all the fine details from the book. If you compare everything to the novel it's not going to be an enjoyable experience for you, so why do it? I just don't understand book purists sometimes! I did have some gripes with the film however: Shaky cam ruining the fight scenes. I guess this was done to keep their PG13 but honestly..it really took me out of the movie. Take out the violence and let me watch the fighting! Rue's development was marginalized. More time was spent mourning her then developing her relationship with Katniss... lol. Bad CGI. The fire, the mutts... oh boy. Overall though = B+ for a solid effort. Most young adult fictions don't get the same treatment.
  2. I like humanized ponies. Actual ponies though... no. They're just cute. I guess their personalities can be attractive. But that kind of stuff can be left to Rule 34 and furries alike.
  3. Halo Reach was a huge disappointment and I felt like it really hurt the Halo franchise.. I mean most of the Halo fanbase has moved on to Call of Duty or Battlefield or some other online multiplayer. Personally my hopes aren't high.
  4. Mass Effect Fallout: New Vegas Skyrim I basically just play RPGs on my 360 these days. I'm slowly losing interest in gaming.
  5. Debra Morgan from 'Dexter' Bree from 'Desperate Housewives' Alex Cabot from 'Law & Order SVU' Tali Vas Normandy from 'Mass Effect' I've had a lot of small little crushes throughout the years but these have stood the test of time. Love these characters and their respective actresses.
  6. Applejack: Didn't really find much interest in her from her intro in the pilot. Just seemed like a stereotypical valley girl with not much to offer to the crew beyond her accent. Now I know she's one of the more level headed of the mane 6. Rainbow Dash: I thought she was going to be my favourite, I love the tomboy characters. Then she became increasingly obnoxious with her ego in the pilot.. Pinkie Pie: Oh god. Annoying, obnoxious and senseless. Twilight Sparkle: Boring, thought she was going to be a typical Mary Sue who is the smartest and most resourceful all the time. Fluttershy: I actually liked her, really passive and quiet, what's not to like there? I thought she was adorable. Rarity: I thought she was going to be Twilight's rival tbh.
  7. Applejack has the most deserving reason. The others could really do without the invitation, they're just self-serving on superficial desires basically. In the scenario of the episode Applejack also expressed interest first, so it just seems most reasonable to go with her. It helps out her entire family financially.. or so in her perspective anyway.
  8. She's got those anime side-swiped bangs going on I approve. Her colours are beautiful as well.
  9. Basically any Lindt chocolate is A+ in my books. Cadbury Creme Eggs are also delicious. And marshmallow Peeps!
  10. Overrated is such a subjective term. It basically means "I don't like this as much as everyone else does." That really doesn't mean anything. MLP didn't luck out with it's large following. And no, it's not just about trolling or hype - with that logic any kid's show could have this success - but it's not. MLP is just a quality show. The shows you listed in the OP are also very quality, but they are shows that are from the past - not current. You can't compare. Internet fandoms weren't as prevalent then as someone else stated. Social networking has done wonders for MLP exposure. The state of cartoons today is a sad one. It's very rare to find one that pays attention to the details in character development and plots. MLP is a breath of fresh air. And there are many factors to why it's made it big, sure.. but the underlying factor is just that it's a good show.

  12. When I watched the pilot I thought it was solid for a children's TV show but really didn't understand the hype around the show with the older demographics. Afterwards I went back and watched more episodes and then fell in love. I don't think the pilot is a good example of the quality behind MLP. That's true for most pilots however. But it serves as a good introduction to the mane 6.
  13. I think it'd be great to have an episode where the mane 6 develops a crush or is the target of a crush. Romance has been established in the show already, so it's a possibility for the mane 6. I however wouldn't want to see anything long-term. More like a single episode type of thing. Leave serious romantic storylines to the fan fics, I agree with this sentiment.
  14. From the mane 6: Overrated - Fluttershy Underrated - AppleJack Just from who gets the most attention and who gets the least. I think the terms overrated/underrated aren't the best to use. There's a reason Fluttershy is the most popular with the fanbase and also why AppleJack is least popular IMO. Doesn't mean they are deserving of anything different. Although ideally they'd all have strong fan followings I guess.
