  1. Yes, you're right, it all is unknown before discovering it. I just had its rarity in mind. In the Everfree it turns out, that the magic randomly existed somewhere in the forest. Then in the shorts, that are the sequels, there was a magical device just randomly lying somewhere around Mane6's location. Who knows? Perhaps there's magic everywhere? So far it is handled pretty nicely indeed, though I'm starting to getting worried. Eh, not like it was a bad thing or something, but it just starts to feel kinda out of place. Welp, but it is true, that it's still just an animated show and nobody said, that it is actually our Earth and stuff, so there's nothing really to complain on. True, should have worded things differently. I wanted to create a quick summary of many factors (that would be a looong story), but I made it sound really bad. Either way what I said doesn't necessarily mean what you may think it does, though that's true, that the way I worded that clearly suggests otherwise. I was referring to some themes poked in the movies and stuff like this, where there are quotes like 'Humans think they can rule the world', 'Humans want to know and have everything', etc. etc.. Besides, I do admit, that comparing anything to our world was most likely a bad approach. We didn't really get a chance to see how the normal-everyday-day looks like. And this answers your question in the topic title - the magic is not bad in overall, it just can be used wrongly. And this applies to both dimensions, where in the human world is tends to be misused more often, due to its rarity and people being unaware of its power. The magic in Equestria isn't necessarily that wondrous and cool. It was used to cause destruction after all. There's absolutely no difference between human world and Equestria when it comes to bad vs good usage of magic. The ones using the magic makes the difference. Eh, I have a feeling, that I'm annoying. Welp, enough of that kind of discussions for me.
  2. Someday it probably will. Hah, I can imagine this.
  3. Hello there! OOoooh some professional artwork is happening there. Welcome to the herd!
  4. Hmm yeah, I think I went too deep with this. I was having both threads in mind and I can see, that what I wrote should rather go to your thread, not this. I see you've pointed only one fragment from there. My bad. Calling the thread as an argument is what confused me~ I guess what I said in your thread explains what I had in mind. Either way getting back to this topic, yes, you're right. That magic is dangerous in both dimensions, though humans seem to not handle it well.
  5. There I agree. Though it doesn't really explain, nor describe how the equestrian magic works, as pretty much everything works like this, even the fire as you've pointed out.
  6. I've read your topic and it doesn't convince me to anything yet to be honest. Equestrian magic in human world is pretty much the same as in Equestria. There are villains after all, so there are ponies/creatures, who used the magic to cause harm. The answer that convinces me more is just the humanity's stupidity itself. Humans seem to be way more hostile, than ponies, so that's why you can see the negative results in human world much sooner.
  7. Thread With a Wall of Text in OP Meets Reply With a Wall of Text Hmm.. I do agree, but there's a catch. Let's start with these questions.. 1. Why did the crown corrupt Sunset Shimmer when she put it on? She had evil intentions even before wearing this crown and she still had them when wearing it. So she wasn't corrupted by the crown, she only gained powers, that basically visually have shown her true form and intentions... magically. 2. Why did the crown grant Princess Twilight and the HuMane 5 anthro forms? In this case, it pretty much did the same as in Equestria. Since the crown yields Equestrian Magic (it's a powerful Element of Harmony, duh!) and the fact, that Twilight is actually a pony (if the word 'Equestrian' in 'Equestrian Magic' itself having something to do with ponies/horses wasn't enough), it just did what it did - Elements of Harmony, Magic of Friendship and ponies in general have encountered humans, so we got ponified humans I guess. Generally: Same as in the first question, but opposite to evil. Now the conclusion: The wearer of the crown is evil - is turned into an evil being The wearer of the crown is good - gets a nice colorful form and rainbows :3 And the real question is: Can Elements of Harmony cause harm in Equestria, like they can do in the human world? This is the one difference I can tell so far. Sunset Shimmer was able to use the crown to enhance her powers, despite the fact, that she wanted to use them for evil purposes. Could anypony or any other creature use these elements to cause harm in Equestria as well? As far as I know (though I could forget about something), none of the villains tried to steal these seeking for power, kinda like Elements of Harmony could be used only for good? But as for the Equestrian Magic in general, it can be used to cause harm in both dimensions. A simple example can be Tirek - he stole all the magic from the ponies and he totally wasn't going to just put some rainbows here and there. So in terms of good/evil usage, the magic works the same in both dimensions, everything depends on how the particular characters want to use that. 3. How exactly did Sunset Shimmer ponied up in the final face-up between the Rainbooms and Dazzlings? The Magic of Friendship probably had something to do with it. Staying by Mane6's side, something connected her with the others. Even if that was not the case, Sunset obviously had connection with Equestrian Magic before, which could just ponify her in these specific circumstances. 4. Why is it when Sci-Twi unleash the magic from her pedant, she turns evil, but Sunset Shimmer takes a powerful angel form? Same as the two first questions. In fact, Twilight wasn't really evil in the first place, but an instant boost of magic / power in general could wake up the desires deep inside her, considering, that she wasn't really aware of the friendship subject, she was kind of bullied instead. For a silly comparison, imagine a kind human in our world that would have tough times, if he suddenly would get a powerful magical power, he could use it to finally change something... or just have fun.. Same could happen in Equestria - there are villains after all, wanting power and whatever. The question again is - if the Elements of Harmony allow to be used for evil purposes in Equestria. All we know is, that they can in the human world. So far that's the only one difference I can think of. Now getting to the dialogue: Sunset Shimmer: Um, we're supposed to keep magic out of the Friendship Games, remember? Rainbow Dash: [scoffs] Rarity: Easier said than done, darling. I'm sure in Equestria, magic does whatever you want. But... Sunset Shimmer: This isn't Equestria. Huh? Can be there something else? What a mystery! "This isn't Equestria" itself can interpreted in multiple ways... But in this context we see, that the characters have difficulties with controlling their powers, but that doesn't have to mean, that the powers are actually different. You know, the equestrian magic itself can be 100% the same in both dimensions, but the characters have different forms, that lack of horns and they generally don't have experience with magic, except Sunset Shimmer-- but still she left Equestria when she was young, so she probably didn't know much anyway. So getting to the point: "In the Equestria Girls world, if Magic isn't used with good intentions, it can be twisted into something bad." Isn't this exactly the same in Equestria? Villains, raise your ... hooves or whatever if you have ever used magic to do something bad! Besides Elements of Harmony, all the Equestrian magic totally could be used by evil - even the same magic, just different intentions. "And that In the Equestria Girls world, if Magic isn't used with good intentions, it can be twisted into something bad." There's a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig catch in that argument. That catch being the Elements of Harmony, though still I don't recall anypony even trying to use these for evil, so you never know. Other than that it all does work the same in Equestria, doesn't it? Are there any other differences? Or is there something I'm missing? Of course, I may be unaware of many things, I can't deny.
  8. Oh, c'mon, such an original joke, no way somebody else could think of that before me! D: Just kidding of course, I can imagine, that this got really boring, if not annoying. Though I'm curious about the origin of your nickname.
  9. All I can say is, that the magic indeed is out of place in the human world. I didn't mind a little bit of magic in the human world in the first movies. Well, at the beginning there wasn't much of magic anyway - basically there was the only one - Magic of Friendship. No spells on command, nor anything - that magic was triggered by the friendship, which--- from some point of view exists in our world, but in the movies it was just shown in a more colorful way. It was nicely balanced- they all were pretty much surprised, that such a thing even exists. But then - - - it started to become a common thing in the human world, which quickly got to the point, where it became hilarious. They keep using their abilities all over the place, which made it all less magical than it should be. It looks like everybody is now aware, that the magic exists and they're just like 'woah, okay'. It just feels awkward I guess. Regarding if the magic is good or bad- it all depends on how it is used. The magic was used to cause harm in Equestria as well. Also I know it's still a show, but it still feels kinda disappointing. Hard to explain why exactly, just as how hard it is to explain why most of us even like the show in the first place.
  10. Hello Pvp! I prefer coop though. Just kidding! I hope you'll have fun here and greetings from your neighborhood, Poland! Welcome to the herd!

  13. Hello, hi! Welcome to the herd, Krystal!
  14. If not the restrictions for new users mentioned above are the problem, then it would be worth to check this thread to see if this mentions the problem you're experiencing:
  15. Hello there! Welcome to the herd!
  16. I actually have just bumped into the same problem, so I suppose I can confirm, that such an issue exists. The notifications clearly state, that multiple ponies have reacted to my status update, yet it shows nothing. Replies in that status update show reactions correctly though. My previous status updates on the hoof, also show reactions correctly, so it seems, that it tends to break in specific circumstances, if not random, though things shouldn't be really happening randomly when it comes to code. Of course, it's not a big issue for me.
  17. There are days, where it would be just better to not wake up at all. :sunny:

@Fluttershy Friend Yet another wall of text? :D Just kidding, thank you - I've sent you a wall as well.

  18. Ooh! The positive energy flows through your words! I like you already! Hello, hello!!! I hope you'll have fun! Welcome to the herd!!!
  19. I agree! Visual presentation always makes things more interesting, as it entertains our imagination I suppose, especially if things are explained in a way we like and can relate to. KSP is indeed a great example.

    Hi

Oh I see, that's nice, so do I. Sounds interesting! I actually have worked with RPG Maker VX Ace in the past and made few silly small games with it- though none of those were actually RPG's. Yeah, I didn't use the software properly, but it was an interesting science to code stuff in there in an uncommon way. Umm.. What I wanted to say is, that I can imagine how your game will more or less look like. Either way, good luck with your project(s)!
  21. Yeah, liking ponies may be risky. Hello there! Welcome to the herd!

    Hi

Oh, interesting! Personally I'm not a pro, nor a skilled programmer, but I like to make games and that's what I'm doing as my hobby. Though as for writing an actual program and stuff, that's the level of science I haven't unlocked yet. I'd rate my knowledge as basic I guess? I know enough to make a working game and mechanics I want, though I might get lost in more advanced functions and formulas, especially when it has something to do with system related things. What are you working on?
  23. Rikifive

    Hi.

Hello there! Sorry to hear you've been through tough situations- I hope everything will eventually get better for you in terms of friendship subject. I myself not have many friends I suppose. Everybody went by their own paths back then, well, I did pretty much the same myself.. Either way, welcome to the herd! I hope you'll find what you're looking for and of course, have a good time with other users.
  24. Heh, actually I felt stupid as well. I've bumped into sines before getting to the quadratic function, yet I ignored that and continued with unnecessarily complex stuff. It took me ages, but yeah. I was manually solving things on paper, breaking things into parts trying to figure out what where should be put, until I eventually came up with something, that worked. It would take years if not the help from an online tool, that was drawing the graphs for me, so I had a preview whenever adjusted anything. That's funny you mention that, because when I tried to put the function in the game, it actually gave funny results at first, due to wrong translation of the formula into code - kinda like typos, but in math. Sometimes interesting things happen when I'm making mistakes. Initially I didn't even know it will be that neat, but that's a nice surprise indeed. It sometimes does.
