  1. @@Randimaxis, Is it weird that I understood far better what you said compared to the OP? :awuh: Guess what I've just said already says it all, but slang isn't my cup of tea. Doesn't help that English isn't my mother tongue.
  2. Hurray, got unicorn! Just like I thought I would! With that, I just got one step closer to my favourite ponies...
  3. I had forgotten that Rayquaza didn't need no stone... And yet, perfect IV Mega Rayquaza with Choice Band using Dragon Ascent only has 6.3% chance to OHKO a perfect IV Wishiwashi with EVs on HP and DEF and a DEF boosting nature. And Wishiwashi has then a guaranteed OHKO with Z Ice Beam. I still dislike the absurd OP-ness of Mega Rayquaza. Anyway you're right, Wishiwashi does become much weaker when low on health but only after the turn is over. That means it'll still be able to deliver one strong attack in the worst case, as it's quite hard to OHKO it. In the story, I'm abusing Aqua Ring and Dive to regenerate. Haven't taught it Protect yet, alas. Otherwise what do you think of Lycanroc midday form? It's pure Rock but it has high attack and speed. Think it'll see any use? Since Rock is a rather good offensive type.
  4. True that, but there are still some out there to look out for. My current favourite has to be Wishiwashi. This little fish is just insane! Low speed and hp, sure...but its other stats are godly! I've run a few simulations and Wishiwashi can survive a Psystrike from Mega Mewtwo Y no problem (2/3 of its HP lost), as well as a Thunder from both Mega Mewtwo Y and a Mega Manectric if you spend all EVs on HP and Sp.Def with no Sp.Def boosting nature! That's crazy! And of course, since there are now Z-moves, that means little Wishiwashi can retaliate with a move that will OHKO said Mewtwo or Manectric. Actually, if not affected by Manectric's Intimidate, it can OHKO it with Earthquake with a 50/50 chance without EV and a Brave nature. An item like Muscle Band, Life Orb, Expert Belt or Choice Band can make it 100%. There's also Toxapex that looks quite nice with its Protect that inflicts poison against contact moves and its ability that guarantees critical hits against poisoned targets. Couple that with Venoshock and you have an absurdly tanky beast that hits like a truck. Tsareena (and forgot the other one) counter Trickster. There might be more but yeah, that's already some potentially interesting stuff there. PS: actually, been thinking about something. Know that new Pokémon, Passimian? What if, thanks to its Receiver ability, it received the Wonder Guard ability? Immune to all but fighting-type moves. Though one teeny Roar and strategy broken...
  5. Lurantis is slow and pure grass, which is a bad defensive type - 5 weaknesses, 3 of which are common - and not that good offensively, 2 of its 3 super effective types being covered by water already. That said, it can learn the awesome ability that is Contrary. Alas for Lurantis, so can Serperior. Worse, both Pokémon share very similar stats with only 2 notable exceptions: Lurantis has more attack than Serperior and Serperior is more than twice as fast than Lurantis, its speed being on the high end of the scope. This means Serperior is the better candidate for the Leaf Storm + Contrary strategy, since Leaf Storm should downgrade its own sp.atk by 2 levels but Contrary makes it increase by 2 levels instead, all the while dealing insane damage. So... Lurantis looks fine but so far, it won't bring anything new to the table. Though maybe once we have established more info about its moveset, we'll be able to see something interesting, who knows? PS: if you didn't know that Leaf Storm + Contrary strategy Ganondorf, Leaf Storm is a special attack move so it's right up your alley.
  6. Eh, if given the choice between an ugly, hateful, contemptuous old woman and a random guy, I'd probably pick the random guy. Despite being heterosexual. Because that doesn't mean I'll love all women, nor does it mean my brain won't get confused by some men. Then some guys would find men are generally more attractive than women, and others wouldn't know what to answer... And they would all be right. There is but a single right answer for you, and that is your own answer. Any other answer is wrong for you, and yours is likely to be wrong for others. So don't sweat it. If one day you're attracted to the same gender, so be it. If the day after you're not anymore, so be it. Love can be fickle. Just be honest with yourself, do not be at odds with yourself.
  7. Good thing she's not perfect I'd say. If the Mane 6 had done or not done a lot things, many problems could have been avoided. I'd say Chrysalis is skilled enough already. She likely didn't accept that apology because she was fearing having her cover blown. A slip-up. But it's only thanks to her few slip-ups that the day was saved - by a hair's breadth both times, might I add. And the 2nd time, in spite of the ponies being wary of the changelings. Certainly takes some skill there.
  8. She certainly regretted saying that the moment Discord started talking, realising he could actually make it happen. You can just see her face saying it all, like "oh wait..." As for Chrysalis, she's so far the one taking the most time to reform - if she does end up reforming. They can handle it in a way that keeps her "arrogance" like you said, as well as shifting toward a friendlier self. In fact, she may transform as she helps the Mane 6 as an unlikely ally and afterwards, she's at a loss with herself and runs away because it's altering her sense (no hunger for one) and perhaps her personality. I'm just throwing an idea here. Regardless you're right that saying "she was nice all along" wouldn't exactly cut it. I concur she's trying to do what she thinks is best - perhaps dismissing any other way in the process - but just like Discord, she has actually done some evil deeds against great numbers. Starlight was lucky that it was limited to a village that chose to forgive her after she voluntarily stopped herself. Discord was forced into reformation and it's possible that Chrysalis is headed toward a mix of the two. Accepting Twilight's apology? Have I missed something in the show?? Don't you mean slapping Starlight's hoof away? For the Mane 6 impersonation, I'd say it's to dumb it down for the younger audience, to make it glaring. The one posing as Twilight was quite convincing. The one point hard to argue against is ignoring Starlight... Though I suppose she didn't think of her as that powerful (the time-travelling having basically never happened) and even if she were, the throne would null her magic so no threat. And she was right to think so, since her defeat came about due to some completely unexpected phenomenon. She can't kidnap everypony but yeah, this oversight cost her all she'd built. Err... Sorry if my thoughts are a bit jumbled up or something, I'm getting a tad sleepy so it all comes out...it all comes out as it did, don't know how to qualify that.
  9. Outdoor shoes: the ones you wear when going to school/work/whatever. Indoor shoes: slippers or flip flops or whatever.
  10. @@Zumbuh, If you think spending money to play the games early isn't worth it, it's your opinion, not an argument. It can't be proven wrong nor right. Also, that "handheld PC" is basically just a console. I don't see myself writing documents on that for instance. Or writing on forums like I'm doing now. So it's an additionnal cost to a home PC. Also, what's the upgrade stance for it? Will it allow parts to get changed/upgraded? Speaking of parts, won't it need really specific parts that wouldn't fit on a home computer/laptop? And you exclude handheld consoles? Fine then. Home consoles allow for several controller ports, making it possible to play together with your friends. Super Smash Bros has already been cited, so I'll cite it again. With PCs, you need every one of them to bring their own computer and set up a LAN. It takes more time and it's definitely not the same as all being on the same couch(es). If you enjoy LANs more than that then good for you, but regardless it's an opinion. Others prefer the simplicity and closeness of playing on a home console. PS: Err... From that SMACH Z website: So those games on smartphones and tablets are not "real" games then? Besides, aren't gamers people who play games? Why would the people playing on smartphones/tablets not be gamers? Much elitism... PPS: Remember this is not a "consoles are better than PCs" thread. It's a "both have their pros and cons" one. Throwing that in, just in case.
  11. @@Zumbuh, Right, because emulators allow you to play games on your PC totally legally. To be clear though, emulating is legal, but there are things to know. Firstly, some emulators require you to provide them a BIOS. Said BIOS is not provided because it is protected by copyright laws, meaning that the BIOS you provide should be the one from your console. In other words, to emulate the console, you must own said console. I don't think I need to point out the absurdity of that. Secondly, there are emulators that need no BIOS (or managed to get past the need for a BIOS). However...let me copy pasta this little text here. In other words, you must own the game you're emulating for it to be legal. And lastly, emulators take a lot of time to be developed to a level where they don't crash, manage to actually play the games without bugs and finally come close to the performances of the console they're emulating. Not to mention an emulator will always need more resources than the actual console. So yes, you can play your games on your PC thanks to emulators but only if you have bought said games and possibly said console. What was the point again, saving money? So much for that. Being able to do what consoles can? You can emulate them yes, after several years. After all, those games haven't been programmed on consoles but on computers. Only makes sense computers can run them... But let's face it, emulators are almost exclusively used to play pirated games, so you're not making a real point here. Still, let me provide another point your PC won't be able to do - playing during a trip on your handheld console, like in the bus or in your car. Even laptops are too cumbersome to do that.
  12. @@Envy, Being whatever elitist is not exactly a good thing to begin with. LoL elitists vs DotA elitists, Windows vs Linux, Star Trek vs Star Wars, PC vs consoles, and so on... It's just dumb. Why try to establish that there can only be one? Can't they accept different people have different tastes?
  13. @@Zumbuh, Try playing Pokémon Sun/Moon on your PC. There, that's one thing. Also the PS4 has more games than those 2 you've cited. They may be the only ones that appeal to you though, in which case it's probably not worth the while for you. However, that's not proving the OP is lying in any way.
  14. @@Frosty Frost, Chips exist to bypass the authenticity check. Then you burn your DVD and voilà, free (illegal) game! It's harder when it's cartridges like for the 3DS but stuff exists for that too. Point is, of course piracy exists for consoles. However, OP said this debate should not include them so yeah. @@Zumbuh, What exactly did OP lie about? @, Yup, for many games people don't even know the developer, only the publisher...when they actually pay attention to who the publisher is. Pokémon could have been developed by Sony, Microsoft, Sega, Capcom...it'd have still been Pokémon, and that's all that matters. Same for a lot of things actually. I listen to songs or themes for which I don't know who the composer is. And I don't care. Nor do I care if said composer is a rapist/murderer/high on drugs. I like the music, don't usually care about the rest.
  15. @@idunnomaybe, Huh... Can't say I enjoy the way Chrysalis is depicted in the comics then, and can't say she sounds like the same Chrysalis either. Feeding off dead ponies is something the show will never endorse to begin with. She also made the Mane 6 mad at each other in the first comic books but it's completely against her own interests. She feeds off love after all and her plan didn't appear to be anything like her usual modus operandi, sitting back enjoying herself in a couch and...not doing anything aside from watching Twilight and her friends proceed on to the location she gave to them instead of you know...capturing them when they were separated and plotting Celestia's capture when she was at her weakest because of the astrological event that forced her to defend parts of Equestria? Chrysalis was depicted as base and a bit stupid and completely self-confident when in the show she's none of that. Getting her hooves dirty and plotting are her fortes (with her plots being successful both times, only foiled by a Deus Ex Machina) and she knows she has limits, being afraid during her confrontation against Celestia and shocked at her victory, and in this finale too, when they start evolving and konws things are spiraling out of her control. I'd heard she was great in the comics and was looking forward to reading the other chapters she appears in, but from what you told me I'd probably not like them. Not to mention that the show just contradicted the comics here - had she truly been loved by that pegasus, she'd have stopped starving the same way Thorax did. At any rate, you've only cited comics Chrysalis for the evil depiction, nothing from the show. Comichryssy appears to be painted as an embodiment of evil, but it just doesn't seem to fit with Chrysalis from the show. So...I'd like to know, do you think show Chrysalis is also meant to be an embodiment of evil? If so, why?
  16. Eh, Chrysalis isn't evil I find. I guess YMMV here, but I view her as a ruler who values her subjects and does what she believes she has to do for her people, even if that means trampling others beneath her hooves. But not evil. Tirek is painted as the embodiment of evil, not Chrysalis. She has been shown to have some morals at least, was genuinely angry at Thorax for betraying her and the hive and genuinely angry at Starlight when she talked about that solution against their constant hunger (what does she know?!). To me, it's obvious she too would prefer to be rid of it once and for all from her reactions. Mixed feelings fighting inside of her, and anger+revenge got the upper hoof in the end.
  17. Either the comics are canon until said otherwise, or the comics are not canon until said otherwise. In both cases, the show takes precedence and the canonicity of the comics is shaky. At any rate, Chrysalis does have her subjects' well-being at heart in the show. However, they've (all?) turned their back on her...she's lost a lot in that finale. She's not abandoning them, it's them who are opposing her, rioting against her, ready to fight. Of course she'd just up and leave, there's nothing she can do right now and there's a lot of thinking waiting for her. Imo (that's just my opinion) she won't be able to digest it all like that and will reappear as an antagonist, but eventually will be reformed and lead the changed-lings once more, with Thorax at her side. Either because Thorax will not be that capable of a king, or because they simply don't care how many rulers there are, just like they did with Celestia and Luna. Nothing states there should only be one, that's an assumption people tend to subconsciously make.
  18. I actually enjoyed her short relapse. It was meant to make people angry at her. It's not as easy as one might think to reform. The end though didn't quite manage to do what it was supposed to do, especially the 5-10 seconds per Mane 5 character to "bond". Without dialogue. Yeah, that wasn't too well handled. That said, give her some time and I'm pretty sure she'll prove her goodwill is the real deal, like in the finale.
  19. Remember that Sunset used to be as well. She went from hated to polarising to loved by most. So far, Starlight has been hated on, then polarising now. Who is to say she will not be loved by most next? Also, Sunset is further ahead redemption-wise. It's like comparing the first attempts after the design phase to a finished product. Not exactly fair.
  20. I don't like you because I don't like tanks. Please stop liking tanks and I'll like you... Nah you're cool in my book! /)
  21. That's precisely what I meant when I said that this belittles the villain. They're a foil and nothing more. Freeza had a bit more going for him than Tirek - the Saiyan were a menace to him. He actually had a reason to act like he did. Sure, he was a a cold-blooded murderer and all tht, but he had a minimum of depth. Not that much is needed to have a compelling villain, in fact. Now this is where it becomes a matter of opinion: to me, MLP shouldn't follow that "villain (with ot without depth) is evil, defeat is the only option". However, I can't deny a (very) few people on earth cannot actually be redeemed, whether because they love what they're doing or because they're suffering from some mental illness. Tirek alone doesn't cut it, there needs to be a repeat of this lesson. Yet, I can't find the movie being appropriate to do that. Its job is to reel in newcomers. Either it stays in their comfort zone by offering an average villain, or it shows them a specificity of MLP. Both could go, but my opinion is that they should give them a taste of reformation, MLP-style.
  22. Thing is, this belittles so many aspects of the characters. It is hardly ever so clear-cut, with on the one side the "good guys" and on the other side the "evil guys", and the "good guys" are always good except when they make honest mistakes and the evil guys are always evil and will always kick the puppy whenever they can, just because they can. I'm sorry, but this kind of villain is quite plain and boring. They can have a personality to go with it, great for them. It doesn't change their plainness. I mean, is Tirek really that interesting a villain? Don't you find Nightmare Moon, Chrysalis or Discord much better already? Or heck, even minor antagonists like the Flim Flam brothers are more interesting than Tirek! The only advantage such plain villains have is to allow the viewers to endulge in enjoying seeing a villain suffer and lose. That's not really a good message, and since shows/books/etc shape people's minds and values, it's dangerous to have that. Want proof? Look at how many here want to see villains get banished to Tartarus or killed, sometimes in what comes close to torture. Pray tell how is that a "good" thing? PS: might as well throw in an example of a non-MLP former villain that got redeemed and that is widely loved and acclaimed - Prince Zuco from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Now that is a character with a real personality. Compare with Tirek now.
  23. Twilight in particular is of great help...even though she kinda fails at times. It's hard both for Twilight who had to guide them, as well as for them to accept their own mistakes try and change themselves - and oh boy is that last part difficult! Reforming someone is probably easier than that someone reforming - having to face their mistakes, the others, keeping this heavy burden that they'll forever be unable to erase... You can only admire Sunset and Starlight both for holding up despite the pressure, and their friends are to thank too. Still, we're lucky Twilight has never been the one needing redemption, who knows what would have happened.
  24. @@PiratePony, Thanks! I can't believe I didn't notice that "Full Editor" button... I guess that's what happens when you post right before going to sleep.
  25. "The past is in the paaaaast! Let it gooo!" Sorry, you were saying? And last one because there's no need for any silly Sunset vs Starlight feud! Friendship is magic, remember!
