Nintendo certainly won it. With a showcase that was actual gameplay for the most part, as compared to sony's and microsofts which here just showcases and cgi movies. Ubisoft did show some new farcry 4 gameplay, and that looks promising, but most of this years e3 highlights came from Nintendo.

From what i can skim through on gaming sites, this is pretty accurate.

You can't really say that the new Zelda is anything like Wind Waker, let alone a repeat of it. They didn't show nearly enough to say anything about it unless I'm missing something besides the reveal.

As for Hyrule Warriors...it's not a ripoff of Dynasty Warriors, it's being made by those same people. It's deliberately a crossover between the Warriors and Zelda series.

Wait. There was a Dynasty Warriors trailer? Was it the main series or empires? And wat system will it be released on?

Based on the fairly limited amount of footage revealed for the new Zelda, it didn't strike me as being like Windwaker at all (excepting, perhaps, what appeared to be cel-shaded graphics - which has no real bearing on game play).  Windwaker, while a great game in its own right (specifically, the Wii U remake), provided the illusion of openness rather than true open world, go-where-you-want game play.  Given how much they talked about the freedom of exploration that existed in the very first Zelda (and the vastness of an area in the upcoming Zelda), I feel as though we'll finally get a true open world 3D Zelda.

Also, the Gamepad is an integral part of the Wii U experience; many games utilize it to some degree (if only optionally) and some games are utterly reliant upon it.  Given that two of Miyamoto's reveals Project Giant Robot (sumo meets mecha) and Project Guard (frantic tower defense with shooter elements) appear to fall into the latter category (and Star Fox will at least include gyroscopic, from-the-cockpit controls), I can't see them selling the Wii U and Gamepad separately.  And considering that the Mario Kart 8 bundle is priced at around $330 and includes: a 32GB Wii U (originally $350), Mario Kart 8 ($60), a free game offer ($40) - unless that's ended, and a Wii Remote Plus ($40)...  I'd say you get a lot of bang for your buck.

A truly unique 3rd person shooter called Splatoon was revealed by Nintendo.  You're humanoids that try to cover everything with ink and can transform into squid form to quickly traverse terrain already decorated in your ink color.

Yoshi's Woolly World got its own segment.  I actually very much enjoyed Kirby's Epic Yarn, and I'm looking forward to the new yarn-ified Yoshi.

A line of figures called "amiibo" was elaborated on: the figures will be supported by Smash Bros. (Wii U), Mario Kart 8, and other future Nintendo games.  Data is stored directly to the figures, and touching them to a spot on the Gamepad (again, the Pad is essential here) will cause the character represented by the figure to "spring to life" in a compatible game.

Mario Maker will allow players to custom build 8-bit and NSMB-style Mario stages of their own.

There's a new claymation Kirby headed to Wii U.

A slew of interesting indies.

On the 3DS side: Pokemon remakes on the way (not actually revealed at E3), a new Fossil Fighters, a downloadable Yu-Gi-Oh! (hey, I've been waiting for that lol), a new Nintendo IP called Codename: S.T.E.A.M. that mixes 3rd person shooter with combat strategy (collab with Intelligent Systems, which is actually a wholly owned subsidiary / one of the early-on R&D teams of Nintendo).

^ Most of the above is 100% Nintendo exclusive.

And, ummm...  I didn't feel like watching anything from Sony or Micro lol.

Ah, I see. Well I only saw Nintendo showcase their stuff. The only thing I'm actually interested in. : P

I intend on watching the press conferences eventually. I did watch Microsoft's last night, and I liked what I saw.

Sunset Overdrive looks like PURE fun; I just worry about the repetitiveness.

You've given me even more reasons to get a Wii-U. Man, the Wii-U is the console to get this generation so far. Bitchin' lineup. People didn't believe me when I said that this was the year to reveal amazing games but man, Nintendo brought it.

On the note of the system's reliance on the gamepad...you can't expect them to make such an integral, and expensive, hardware piece and not have it be the centerpiece of a lot of game functionality. I suppose you could argue the necessity to have such a controller in a console but at least Nintendo is giving us options. Gamepad, Wiimote, Pro Controllers and now even a Gamecube Controller adapter...the other consoles give you a single controller you have to use unless a third party happens to make an alternative controller.

The Wii was an off-generation methinks. They had great ideas but people just happened to not like it no matter what they did. This generation they've brought the thunder and I'll be so incredibly happy to pick the new console up.

I really appreciate your saying that.  Really.  As a lifelong Nintendo fan, the nonstop conjecture, doomsaying, and negativity on the internet concerning the Wii U and Nintendo have been draining, but your post makes that other crap seem relatively insignificant.  There's fun to be had with a Wii U, and I know that's always what mattered to me.  Hope you enjoy the hell out of it once you get the chance to pick one up!

I've never been loyal to any one company but neither have I been overly negative towards any of them either. It's all about the games for me but sometimes a console does some pretty cool stuff. Nintendo consoles deliver on that front, even if their ideas go unused for one reason or another.

I also get really tired of all the anti-Nintendo crap out there. It annoys me more than anything when people won't even give them the time of day on principle as if they want Nintendo to lose without even giving them a shot.

You know what, screw it. I'm giving the gold to Nintendo.

Why?

Star Fox, baby. First one in almost a decade.

Although I was very happy about the Master Chief Collection of Halo, it's not Star Fox.
