Are there ponies with broken dreams because of their race?

I'm not sure how to title this tread, but I've been wondering: Do you think there are ponies who dreamed to be something or had a goal at some point of their lives and they can't achieve it because of their race?

 

For instance, earth ponies who dreamed to be Wonderbolts and at some point they discovered they can't cause they need to be pegasi.

Or Pegasi who once dreamed to be wizards and they can't cause they need to be at least unicorns.

Likely and sadly when it comes to that stuff it kind of sucks but all ya gotta think as a pony is you can do many things they cannot be proud of yourself do not worry over it.

I think Cherry Berry wanted to be a pegasus because we often see her in a flying machine.

Maybe she dreams to become a Wonderbolts?

LOL, I thought the same about Pinkie Pie, I see some hints in the toys that she wished she was a pegasus, like her helicopter and her other Rainbow Power figure where she's tied to a pair of balloons in flying position.

I remember a fan-fiction about Big Macintosh and his pegasi hopes. Fun thought. Though I seriously doubt fate and destiny in the My Little Pony universe are so cruel that they would give a pony an impossible or unachievable cutie mark.

Rarity was pretty crushed that she couldn't be a crystal pony.  I don't know what dreams she would have had with that, other than being extra beautiful.  But I guess that might be a dream of hers.  lol

She's a crystal pony at heart, but honestly, she couldn't get any more beautiful than she already is Dream accomplished

 

Anyway,  I think that a pony's race also plays heavily into their mindset. Different races are raised in different ways, and therefore they are molded into different mindsets. Pegasi are usually going to think differently than earth ponies because they're usually raised in a different environment, and therefore know different things and different types of knowledge means different ways of thinking, most of the time. Different ways of thinking means different goals, and if their race plays a large part in their upbringing (which also greatly effects the way one would think) than they're going to have ideals according to what they know, most of the time

 

While the scenario presented in the OP is certainly very possible, I'd have to say that isn't the case most of the time

The show reinforces being who you are and doing what you were meant to do and to carve out your own path to greatness that's unique to you.

Scootaloo can't fly.  She's not less of a pegasus for it it just means she needs to find what she can do right and do it well.

 

I'm sure this mindset exists but I think it's clear everypony is raised believing do what you can with your own abilities.

It seems like an interesting idea, but I highly doubt the show would touch an issue like that.

 

If anything, I believe non-ponies have it worse as they have to deal with everything from second-class citizenship to prejudice to subservience. After all, this country is named for the pony Master Race which controls everything up to the forces of nature.

While I agree about the gryphons, Changelings as a whole seem to have a sort of hive mind. Unless Chrysalis dies or they get a new, better queen, they're never going to do anything other than be fodder

Well that's the stereotypica unimagintive changeling. There could be subraces, branched off uniques, etc. Speaking in terms of show canon, probably not because no toy revenue could be made off of changelings in their eyes. But in fanon I feel as though they are much more than just insect drones with one sentient leader.

I think it's about realizing how to play their part, the way they are. Each pony race has their own unique and special job they do for Equestria.

 

I feel that once a pony realizes their race's special role, they would feel just as special as any other race, which they should.

Sadly to say, I believe that there probably is. I'm sure there's the earth pony who wishes she could be a Wonderbolt, or a Pegasus who wishes that she could be a farmer instead of a cloud herder. :/

undoubtedly, Equestria has some similarities to out daily lives, and broken dreams for being this or the other aren't unheard of in this world, so I won't rule out that happens in Equestria

Well, thanks to the law of averages, at some point in their universe there has been a pony who had their dreams and goals crushed due to them not having the natural ability to fly or be a unicorn. So to answer your question op, yes, at some point there has been a pony who's dream of being a wonderbolt was crushed by the sudden realization that they are a dirty mud pony.

But at the same time, we haven't really been shown just how good their transformation magic is, perhaps they can change race. But for the most part, since most of them would be raised in a culture that is specific to their tribe, I would not think there are to many mud ponies that wish to be wonderbolts.
