How does "normal society" treat people with natural-born pink hair?

If there are some pink-haired people who are actually born with pink hair (also proven with medical tests), how are they normally treated in society? How will you treat one of them?

Oh dear, I guess I was inspired by EqG Pinkie Pie when I came up with the idea ...

How are they normally treated?  Idk.  Probably fine, because people dye their hair all sorts of crazy colors, and it's acceptable.  If someone was born with hot pink hair, people might think it's strange, but how would they know?  As for me, if someone was born with hot pink hair, I would ask her to marry me, assuming the person was female.

Sometimes, I would assume if the same person comes from a warlike culture (with pink-hairs as only a self-isolated minority full of homemade military training and honor codes, a la Japan), whether is he/she a boy or a girl.

It'll be much more fun anyways.

It is hard to judge how "normal" society would respond for two reasons: first there are multiple different societies with different cultures, which would yield different reactions, and secondly, the reaction would depend on the rate of pink hair occurring. If pink hair happened in 15-20% of the population over a couple generations, it would likely be treated as any other hair colour, perhaps with a few jokes and stereotypes the same way there are blonde jokes. If it suddenly emerged or only occurred in a small fraction of the population, people would likely assume it to be dyed and act towards the person as they would towards anyone with an unusual, dyed colour. Young males would likely opt to dye it a different colour, especially when school aged, as well as people seeking professional careers where such a dye job would be frowned upon.

My treatment on a pink-haired person would also depend on the commonality of the trait. If it is common and no different from any other hair colour or if I knew it to be natural, then I would treat the person normally. If it was a rare trait, I would assume it to be dyed (unless told otherwise), and while I might initially think of the other person as a bit weird (which isn't a bad thing at all), I wouldn't treat them differently for it.

In young childhood they could very well be bullied for it, or at least mildly teased, just because anything that's possible to tease someone about, will get picked out.

Gosh. I gave up on normal society so long ago, I don't know. I'd treat them normally. I mean I thought my friend's hair was naturally black, but she just dyed it that way. I still treated her the same.

I know I wouldn't treat someone worse because of something like pink hair. If there is one good thing about me being  a social outcast, it's I'm open to being friends or getting to know anyone if we have similar interests. The person may get bullied by others but who knows for sure.

Society is full of a bunch of pricks... Society is not going to change for no one and its always going to be mean in the sense you are always going to come across people who want to drag you down and all. Go your own way and be happy with who you are and don't give a f*** about others out there. That is the mentality you have to get.

I've never heard of people being born with natural pink hair before. It's quite new to me. I for one would think it's kind of cool, but seeing how some red/orange haired people are picked on these days I'd expect there to be trouble in the schoolyard.

Once you're an adult, nobody really cares anymore.

in my honest opinion, hair colour shouldn't be something that tears you away from people and society.

  • 2 weeks later...

Now, what if these same "pink-hairs" come from a culture that glorifies violence and military service (despite being in a modern setting), and some of them are divided between:

* promoting violence and retaliation, to "restore the honor lost in pink hair"

* reject the social mores of their corrupted environment, and risk being "disowned"

* fear everyone who does not have pink hair, as if they all want to exterminate them

* integrate their native culture into the rest of society, believing that there is still some uncorrupted good in their background amid all that violence and paranoia

Now, how will society treat anyone from such a minority as this, as they encounter this kind of dilemma?

This entire post is discussing a "What if" scenario. Normally, natural pink-hair is not a reality, but this entire post discusses a fictional setting where such a thing takes place.

Now, how will society treat such people (if natural pink is real), if they come from the violent culture I mentioned earlier?

Hi there, @HorsesandMOARGaloar. As the primary focus of this discussion does not involve Equestria Girls or MLP, I have moved it from the Equestria Girls forum section to the General Discussion section.

The former is for discussion of Equestria Girls and related media, while the latter is for non-MLP/EqG/brony-related discussions that do not fit in other forum sections.

Now, back to the topic.

I know that most of you think that dying hair pink can be awesome, but what would you think (aside from those who have answered) normal society will do to anyone who is actually born with natural pink hair?

What do you mean by normal society? What are you considering as normal?
