I picked Crash only because i have many memories of playing the older crash games on the PS1 with family members and it was the funnest thing we had to play easily!

We would also all wigg out when Crash would get the mask thingy lol

If we're going with a loose definition of Sony characters, Solid Snake.

Otherwise, Sly Cooper.

I feel like it should mean they got their start on playstation, so, at least for me, snake doesn't count...but that's just me

Vinsfeld Rhadamanthus. Badass of the century. Also a villain (if you saw my post in the Nintendo version of this topic. :D )

Tied with Irving Vold Valeria but for spoilery reasons I cannot say.

Definitely Cole Macgrath from the inFamous series. He may be my favorite character from any game, let alone from PlayStation. I was gonna be him for non-pony identity day, but I didn't have enough name changes left. ^_^

No Ratchet?

Anyway Crash Bandicoot 2 is the first game I ever played so Crash it is.

Sony has a lot of good characters tbh. Shame PS All Stars had a somewhat lame list (All the 3rd party characters were basically put in to promote a new game, Sir Daniel was deliberately made bad AFAIK, We didn't need 2 coles etc.)

Well, there was no Sony videogame console that existed when the first Metal Gear game was released.

Metal Gear Solid 2 in particular contributed greatly to the PS2's success, so in that way I would consider the series to be very substantial in terms of the history of the PlayStation brand.

But I digress, Sly Cooper it is then.

Gabe Logan from Syphon Filter and Legend of Dragoon's Dart.....

I really want a new LoD and SF :(

Almost forgot about LoD. It's been way too long. Incredible game! :squee:

A bit of a toss up for me between Spyro and Sly Cooper but I am going to give this to Sly Cooper because his series is still going quite strong while Spyro kind of veered off a bit and then the Skylanders thing came out which has Spyro as a character but is the furthest thing from Spyro.

... I was tempted to choose Crash Bandicoot but... seriously? Is NOBODY going to bring up Klonoa?

KlonoaFleeing.png

I mean, holy crap, this guy's main series games were something else.

The main series games (Klonoa: Door to Phantomile and Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil) are really deceptive games.

On the surface, they're very cutesie and innocent games. All the characters are little anthropomorphic animals, they speak a fictional language, reminiscent of Japanese, in adorable voices, with cute enemies, cute graphics, cute EVERYTHING. And there's no real indication of the contrary on the box; I mean, for goodness sake, it's rated E! Straightforward E-rated game.

But the fact is, these games have some dark and downright depressing themes in them that seem to go overlooked. I wouldn't DARE spoil a single one, but I swear to god, the ending of the first game nearly left me in tears that fell like waterfalls.

And Klonoa himself is just so... interesting. He's a youthful character put in some really unpleasant situations on quests he's more dragged into than anything for results that aren't really all that satisfactory. It's played off in a way that it still feels E-rated but... you just feel like he's too young to be going through what he is. ESPECIALLY in the first game, where he's designed as that collar-wearing cabbit you see there.

... Plus, his games kinda revolutionized 2.5D in a way that hadn't really been properly utilized before. So that's a thing.

Sadly, these games never really caught on in the Western market, but no matter what anyone tells me, little Klonoa will always be my favorite shota Playstation character.

My favorite is either Sora (Kingdom Hearts), or Delsin (Infamous: Second Son). But since neither are on the list, I'll vote for Parappa since he's awesome.

Cole MacGrath, Sly Cooper and Ratchet (& Clank) are my personal favorites on the list. But I do feel Colonel Mael Radec from Killzone 2 (arguably the best Killzone character) deserves some attention.

TBH, it was a close tie between Spyro and Crash for me. Since I played Spyro a lot more, I chose him. Doesn't mean I'm not ticked about how the Crash franchise is doing. :/

This is going to be a war of personal favorite vs. actual best.

Best: Nathan Drake, largely because of his development and growth as a character while still retaining the traits that make him a charming and likable character in my eyes.

Favorite: I would say Spyro, but he no longer counts thanks to the ole suits at Universal/Vivendi, but whatever. Ratchet & Clank currently take that spot. He may become the best character whenever I decide to give his games a proper play through.

@PathfinderCS, Spyro is currently with Activision now, actually. I don't believen Vivendi's still around anymore, TBH.

Oh, I know. I was referring to when Insomniac stopped making the games and Universal/Vivendi at the time was the owner. Activivision plays a part later; I know. :)
