Hell yes. Old Tool's the best.

GOOD GAWD YES! Though, I love EVERYTHING by Tool! <3 I have over 40 songs by them on my iPod~ Vicarious was the first song I heard by them~

Looking forward to their new album coming out in May? It comes out a few days after my birthday~ <3 Hopefully they'll do a world tour again and some to Scotland so I can see them!

I'll get the album if only to listen and see if I like it. I'm particular to the older material, and 10,000 Days didn't really impress me all that much. My first song was 'Sober' years and years ago, but Lateralus threw me for a loop the first time I listened all the way through.

I really want to see them live. I hear they're incredibly tight in concert.

Ahhh, to be honest there is only 5 songs on it that I like (Vicarious, Jambi, 10,000 Days, The Pot, Right In Two). The rest to me is mostly noise. Clever noise, but noise just the same.

Also, my mum just dissed Tool and said they were on the same level as children. 8l Dude, I'm shaking I'm so annoyed! I gave her a big speech about Lateralus and Vicarious and she left.

I won't deny that there were some songs off of that album that made me smile, either. A great deal, in fact. It just seems like they're losing that edge they had on albums like Undertow and Ænema.

Also, how does your mother figure that Tool is on the 'same level as children,' anyways? If there's one thing Tool as a unit knows, it's definitely songwriting.

Yeah I do see where you're coming from to be honest, the songs I usually listen to by them are mostly older ones, live versions and live covers~

Exactly. She's only heard bits and pieces of different songs by them whilst she's upstairs. I mean, the number of syllable for each line in a section of Lateralus corresponds to the Fibonacci numbers. Does Dizzee Rascal do that shit (yes she actually likes his song Bonkers, but on the plus side she also likes Marilyn Manson)? I doubt he can even spell Fibonacci, I doubt he even knows how to SAY it (he doesn't know how to say a lot of things properly, for example, it is not fink, it is THINK), yeah he did write Bonkers but it is TERRIBLE.

Excerpt from Bonkers:
"Some people think I'm bonkers
But I just think I'm free
Man, I'm just livin' my life
There's nothin' crazy about me"

Dat's sum srsly deep chorus ya gat der.

It's why I never bothered trying to show my mother anything that I listened to, because she always had some out-there comment to make about it that irritated me. Dream Theater? Talentless noise? No. Just no.

It's not intentional, she comes upstairs from time to time and can hear what I'm listening to. Like she does the ironing just outside of my room and my door is never shut so the cats can come in (Gizmo usually sleeps next to me on my bed).

FFFFF holy hell I can't believe she called Dream Theatre that 8| Honestly, I'm very picky with them but I highly respect them.

They had to cut over a minute of the song to make the video, but I love the video so I put this up instead of the full one XD <3

That's probably because of the growling. Sounds at a low enough frequency affects the rectal channel of the human body, I've heard. .

Citation, please?

Now, there are ways to mix electronic and emo into your metal and make it good.

This is NOT how to do it. I'm posting this here because I hate it, and I think everyone should listen to it and know for themselves how bad it is.

The mathcore passages aren't too bad, when they're used. Shame the rest of the song is garbage. The top comment said it best: "Enter Shikari had sex with Dillinger and then cheated with Dr. Acula".

The only The Devil Wears Prada song I like.

Needs more autotuned clean vocals.

I'm not a big KSE fan, but this album is awesome. Lyrically, it's very dark, and the production of the album is less clean sounding then As Daylight Dies and The End Of Heartache. Tracks like this and Never Again are pure melodeath, which pulled me off course when first listening, and tracks like I Would Do Anything are just plain awesome. I don't mind KSE, but they're not my favourite band either. This album, though...It's just awesome.

I pretty much liked all of thier albums, even the first one with Jesse Leach (who they got back with). This album though I really liked. It had so much of a different sound than thier other ones. I first started listening to these guys when I first got into metal, same with As I Lay Dying and thoes kinds of bands.

I've only heard the three albums from the Howard era, which were good, but as you and I said, the final album he did (Killswitch Engage) was awesome. I love the amount of experimentation on the album. The only song I didn't like from it was Save Me. I like AILD as well, their newest album (Not Decas, The Powerless Rise) was awesome too. But not as good as An Ocean Between Us.

From the new ETID album. It's...different, but it grows on you.

36 Crazyfists? I haven't listened to them, but the name rings a bell. What song do you recommend for a first listener?

Also...

The ONLY BMTH album that I actually like. Actually, the newest one wasn't bad.

I recommend Felt Through A Phone Line, At The End of August, Bloodwork, Elysum (fet. Howard Jones), The Back Harlow Road....this list would be forever, I just recommend all of it. BMTH was ok, but some songs I liked.

And for some reason I got 4 notifications for you quoting my last post...must have been an error.

Just listened to At The End of August. The harsh vocals are impressive, but the clean vocals are subpar. I don't have any issues with the instruments-the guitars have that bite that most metalcore seems to lack, so I'm impressed at that alone. The song was really good.
